Because this list is for the first year philosophy students. The drooling morons who don't have a single bit of class in their body and think taking philosophy will let them do something other than teach philosophy.
Wow, that's abit of a harsh over generalization wouldn't you say? I agree that the kiddies who take a philosophy course so they can feel that they're just as smart as Nietzsche, and impress college chicks with their smart taste in movies are annoying as hell.

But (and correct if I'm wrong) it seems like you're lumping all philosophy students together as horrible mouth breathers. And the idea that the only valid reason to take philosophy courses is so that you can get a job teaching philosophy is depressing. Philosophy along with science is our windows into truly understanding the world (obviously on two different levels).
Yeah.... but you never really hear about successful philosophers in this day and age compared to scientists. I just don't understand the point of investing into something in which getting a return is rather difficult/unlikely. I mean, what can you do with a philosophy major that nothing else could get you beyond teaching the matter at hand?

And plus, after a few classes, one could probably pursue those philisophical pursuits in their free time anyway. I don't think anyone really NEEDS to be taught how to think/ponder/philosophize/etc.

I don't think anyone needs to take a painting class to paint either, in fact I'm a natural artist. I started young and I've done well. With that said, majoring in fine arts has done wonders for my art. I think philosophy courses could do the same thing, teach people skills to help them work in ways which are conducive to philosophy.

But yeah, philosophy (like art actually) only yields a return if you're really the creme of the crop. It's not half assable, or it's useless. You can't be just good at what you do, you need to be one of the best or your not contributing (beyond giving your friends raging brainers).

Would you care to explain you reasons why?

I understand that the film somewhat explores some important questions however personally it's not the best of Philip K. Dick's work (film conversions)

Minority Report or A Scanner Darkly held better values towards philosophy imo( have'nt seen/read all of Philip K. Dick's work yet..)
Well philosophy students, this is a total generalisation of most I have met, tend to care less about whether the film is actually entertaining or not. It's meaning moreso than content.
That and whatever sounds impressive, name dropping basically.
To be completely honest I'm not a fan of any of the three, but if I was making the list that's the one I'd put down.

'What does it mean to be human?'
I suppose so...

What about the implications of humanity wiping out every other living thing on the planet?
the implications weren't explored very well, Resident evil:Extinction did a better job even though it was brief

the crappy, sprawling, pan-cultural wasteland of a city, and what it says about the society of the future?
it's a generic sci-fi fantasy feature

Another movie I've only just watched recently and am embarrassed to say so. I was pretty impressed though. Though apparently I am in the minority
Takes a while to get your head around that movie, doesn't it? To me, it's just this amazing sumptious visual feast.
I agree dude. I was pretty taken by the visceral plausibility of the urban world created for that film. Nice
It's amazing just how singular Scott was about his dystopian world, and the sheer level of detail you can find in it amongst the background.

That's what I love about the man- visuals are critical to him, and he really does his homework when it comes to research.
