Or, to be more specific, in your circle of friends, are there any films you like that your friends hate?

Most of my friends hate westerns, and some of my friends hate Fight Club, American Beauty, Mel Brooks films and The Big Lebowski. All films I like, incidentally.

How about you guys?

I watch a lot of old exploitation and slasher films. This confuses my friends. I guess it is an acquired taste.

I...actually don't know which films I like and friends don't.

So instead, I will post ones that critics dislike but I enjoy.

I liked Constantine, yeah the religious aspects were a bit of a mess, Keanu's acting wasn't exactly oscar material, but the cgi was really well done, the plot was followable, enjoyable, and had a proper character arc for Constantine, Shia LaBeouf was in his element as a whiny sidekick, and Rachel Weisz was in it. Which is always a plus in my books. I also didn't know anything about the graphic novel, so even though I heard a lot of people complain it massacred it, I didn't know.

I liked Zardoz and pretty much everyone ever hated that movie.

I also hated Dazed and Confused, which apparently is strange for someone in my age group.

I also liked the Blair Witch Project, which pretty evenly divided my friends. Those of us that grew up in the woods loved it, friends from more urban backgrounds didn't seem to understand why.

I was surprised to realize how unpopular Cloverfield and District 9 were.
I was actually one of the few people (who I knew) who was satisfied with the ending to Cloverfield.

I loved those movies, my friends think they are stupid, and it seems I'm always at odds with what the critics like. Pardon me if I like movies that don't always have to have a fucking meaning behind them.

Does Transformer count? I mean yes there are many flaws to the movie but it still serve as a good action film and it did push the 3D effect to full effect. I mean come on a 3D Autobot and Decipticon in real life is awesome.

District 9 is unpopular?! I love that film, as do all my friends and my parents. It's fantastic in every single way

OT: I like Titanic, okay?! I could watch that film every day for the rest of my life. It is awesome! ...well, it's not... but I love it!

Also I greatly enjoy The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou which most people I've met have either never heard of or never seen or dislike.

Surprisingly I loved V for Vendetta. However a lot of people around me became confused by watching it due to their limited understanding of V's vocabulary. I really enjoyed it. But everyone else hated it :(

I thoroughly enjoy movies that are a little campy or whatever if they have some redeeming qualities so I've got a lot of these, but to simplify my main two are:
Johnny Mnemonic <- I LOVE this movie, seriously one of my all time favorites.
Waterworld

I liked 2012. It wasn't amazing, but the visuals were entertaining enough.
