I own a Sansa MP3 player and it is pretty good. The drag and drop feature is nice.

I've always wanted one of the Creative Zen ones, that are like the size od a credit card, with a nice screen and stuff.

I wouldn't reccomend iPod, because the sound quality isn't at all as good as many others.
Explain this to me.
Explain what?

If you mean the iPod sound quality... I've had an iPod Classic, a Nano, and a Shuffle in my time, and none of them compared in sound quality to even one of the £30 MP3 players from Argos or wherever. You're really paying for the brand name and the fact that iPods are 'cool'.
I have one of the new iPod nanos and the sound quality is great. I actually upgraded from a "£30 MP3 player" that sucked balls.

if you have a small music library then go with a Sony MP3 player, if you need a big mp3 player go for an iPod (since sony only makes smaller gig ones now from what i have seen)

I'm willing to admit that the apple MP3 and MP4 players take the prize almost hands down on the aesthetics prize. Also their functionality is good but if you go for the standard iPod, what's the point apart from the nifty wheel it uses its functionality can be mirrored by any other MP3/MP4 player on the market with better stuff.
Apple considered the success of their little pet as an excuse to charge extortionate prices for something whose novelty wore out around the time humans could talk, about how ordinary it was.

If you posses a burning desire to get an apple product get the iTouch, pretty functional, the touch screen is sensitive, without being so sensitive that when using Google Earth you end up in Japan when you aimed for Norway. The accelerometer is good and works well with most tasks but can be a bit difficult to get used to, or in this case a bit insensitive. Finally due to its ubiquitous nature there will always be people making applications for it.

However I recommend any Sony Walkman as they produce some of the best sound quality on the market, are functional and simple to use without strange features that you will likely never use but still pay for. Also they are reasonably priced as they haven't had Apple's success. As all Apple kit is overpriced.

But whatever you do don't get the iPhone!

Zunes are pretty good. They are designed to be better than iPods. I know the creative line has its strengths though. I haven't done my homework on them at all, but they have piqued my interest. My next MP3 player will be either one of those or a Zune.
I just read Zune works with Xbox. Anyone done stuff with that?
Umm, yeah, you can play music, movies etc off them. You can alway play music off an ipod if you have one of them too.

Mind if i cut into this argument? :p Quality is always an important factor to me. I've had in my time an Iriver H320 which gave astonishingly good sound quality in its time; I then moved onto a Zune, which was ok but the quality didn't have the same wow factor that my H320 had. I then bought a macbook, and as people will know Zunes do not work with them and i was effectively forced into buying an iPod Nano. I have always stayed away from ipods because their sound quality has always been below par in my opinion, but the latest outing surprised me; its not that bad. Its not amazing or anything, but its still pretty good, above average. The quality is better than most Mp3 players on the market that i have listened to, and whilst its not as good as say that of a Creative, its not so far off that its worth disregarding it for the average user. I love it, and its awesome 'shake' feature is something which i love so much about it lol (when you shake the ipod it shuffles the track, how awesome is that! :p)

A good one that's easy to use and not too expensive in the 4GB Creative ZEN. Not the Stone or Micro or all their spinoffs. Just the ZEN. It's reliable to me and hold a fair amount of songs.
The only thing bad is that the videos are a ***** to compress...

Just be normal and get an iPod.
Why Not? Because in this case normal means more money for things other MP3s offer, I mean they're pretty reliable but don't just arbitrarily follow the masses or you'll never find out if there's something better.

Furthermore Microsoft got sued for monopoly of the market, and I agree with the decision, I don't think the punishment was great enough though.

And on the same tone this is why Apple can charge extortionate prices, because everyone buys it. But we need to appreciate that there are other ideas and things outside the iPod, or we might just miss the chance to see a revolutionary idea trampled neath Apple's mighty tread. No competition, no innovation. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I like my iPod. I must have the only iPod and xbox in existence that does what it's meant to. I've got an 8GB iPod Touch, and apart from only have 7GB of storage (fucking firmware), it's a nice reliable little thing. If you're willing to spend the money, I would. If not, the Sensa MP3 players are great things too. I had one and it was fantastic until I dropped it one too many times. Whoops.

Yeah. It's a bit of a downer.

But on the upside, it plays pretty much every format known to mankind. (Even that dreaded 'Apple proprietary format'.) It's pretty swank.

Zune is a great mp3 player. Much better than the iPod lines.

I would recommend a Zune or a Sansa.
I recommend sansa because it has very good quality for the price, and For the sansa clip, even if the screen cracks, you can sill use it. unlike almost any iPod.

Not gonna lie, although the iPod touch is expensive, it's really a good MP3 player. I can't use one becuase I need my 160 GB iPod.
Definitely. I got one right after they stopped making them for 300 bucks, and it was well worth it.
