I think an FPS on Wii might be pretty cool. Using the Wiimote to snipe at people might be pretty awesome, but I dunno. It doesn't even have to be like other FPS's, all blood and guts realism. It could be cartoonish and fun. Moviebob posed "Mario Paintball" in one of his Game Overthinker reviews. Or maybe like a Super Smash Brothers: Reloaded kinda deal. Who knows? The Wii really does have a lot potential if it could just get out of the way of itself.
A bastard offshoot of TF2 would be interesting.
Where you would have to actually swing the Scout's bat to hit people. It might be AWESOME... or it might be stifling and tedious...
True. I think it may be satisfying to lay into someone with that bat, but might be a bit much for it to be mandatory. Perhaps an alternate control style would be necessary.

Go with World at War seriously. It's the best s*** you'll get out of Wii. It's not half bad either. If you debate me on that then your obviously a 360 addict that has his/her eyes taped to the t.v. screen. But any way World at War is really fun on Wii (if you like wii) It's like a last resort. Like me I tried to get it for my PC (which is s***) so it failed. So I got it for my Wii. Which I don't regret. I only regret the fact that I bought something in which Treyarch didn't put enough planing or effort in to it.
Or you are just a Wii fanboy trying to defend the shitty graphics of your console.
hey, hey.

360/ps3 troll. The grownups are talking. Hush up.
A wii fanboy being a grownup that hard to belive

Personally, i don't enjoy the flicky, waggle the remote controls, sometimes they don't even respond.
Maybe that would work better with the new full motion add-on.

Yes it looks pretty but it doesn't make it (only in the non-technical way) STOP THINKING GRAPHICS MAKE UP FOR S***TY STORIES! STOP THINKING 360 IS THE BEST BECAUSE IT'S NOT!

Agreed.
Why does the mention of the Wii automatically start the console wars?
*sigh*

When I play a Wii game where everything looks like a brown turd, by contrast to great looking games like Metroid Prime 3, I'll give you a call and give you the satisfaction of being right.

I don't see any reason why they can't work. Nintendo just need to improve the Wi-Fi service by making it more like a community, like LIVE, rather then just searching for random people you can't talk to or searching for friends. I am pretty sure that it is part of Nintendo family friendly image, but Nintendo just needs to drop the safety protocols, and parents just need to know that using the Internet is only for mature people. Plus profiles and such would not hurt. The hardware also needs improving. Metroid Prime Hunters was decent in terms of online connection, so the Wii can do better.

I agree, the online system needs some work.
For instance:
Brawl works pretty badly online, mario kart is much, MUCH better.
It's pretty hit-and-miss it seems.

I don't see any reason why they can't work. I never played Red Steel multiplayer because I only have one Wii-Mote, but apparently it is doable. Developers just need to stop being lazy. If anything, developers just need to add some kind of calibration system in each game to detect where each player is sitting, and even that may not be needed.
There we go. I agree. Whenever people talk graphics I just point them to The Conduit, and tell them that's not even the best the Wii can muster. Not everything has to be brown and gritty.

I think high Voltage Software and a few other companies show that developers are being lazy. Look at Resident Evil 4, technically every Wii game should be looking like that by default, but developers just don't put the work in, and if they get good sales then they have no incentive to bother in the future.

Friend, I've been trying to figure that out for a very, very long time. You find that out for me and a toffee is in store for you. Just report the trolls and hope that the bans come thick and fast.

I agree that the online system needs work, however fighting games is a bit different. They need a bit more work than say a shooter. With an fps you see them teleporting about and their movement is choppy, and that's fine. But in a fighting game that's not possible. In fighting games it has to lag the button input in order to keep it fluid, or else you will get people teleporting around the place, and that's a game breaker. Some examples of this are Soul Calibur IV, and Street Fighter IV, however people have now used lag as an exploit, especially with Zangief players.

It's bad enough with a two player game where button lag comes in, but with Brawl you have four people in one place. The button lag will be horrible. There are fixes for it, but now it's a case of whether Nintendo will put measures in place to fix the problem.

But yes, things like mario Kart Wii and online FPS work fine, and will continue to work fine, but fighters will have problems unless you give them as much care as possible.

I have the answer.
Everyone thinks their view is correct, and everyone else is wrong.
Ever seen the southpark where cartman goes to the future?
yeah...
where's my toffee?

Edit: sorry about the quote pyramid... still trying to figure out how to manipulate them.

I'm taking no offense, and honestly i'm not sure how well it will work either.
Yeah I'm not trying to rip on the idea or anything, I just find that I absolutely cannot play a shooting game on the Wii. I just...can't do it. I mean I sometimes find trouble playing shooters that lack mouse control, but this is something completely different.

It's in the mail, but the courier company has a 33% failure rate. If it gets to you I hope you like Thorntons!

Also I edited the post above slightly to talk about online fighting games, I don't know if it notified you.

While playing metroid, i found the most effective way to play was to... *gasp* stand up!
I'm with you on the mouse control thing. Computer shooters are so much easier to aim with!

Halfbreed: yes, a cookie should be plenty. Make it peanut butter.

If they made a Mario FPS, something inoffesive like Mario Paintball or a Mario FPS that had you throwing fireballs and hammers at people, would anyone play it? Or rather, would anyone be really REALLY excited about it?

I have no legssssssssssssss just kidding that's a horrible thing to joke about I'm going to hell.

But mouse control is definitely better for shooters.

While pc's are the master fps race, I have a lot more fun shooting with the Wii than fumbling the xbox like a robot prostitute.
