so just a few hours ago kotaku Australia posted a article announcing that ME3 will have multyplayer, Now when i read this i had a little nerd rage all over my facebook page (cause my friend liked it to me on there) but as i calmed down i thought that bio ware make excellent games and the combat in me is all ready fun to play so whos to say the the multyplayer wont be good. so i was wondering if any one share this opinion with me and who is gonna be all like "lets boycot me3 now that its going all cod like" with out actualy knowing what it is actualy like to play.

Honestly don't care. I don't buy mass effect for multiplayer, and probably won't touch it.

The point of MP in ME3 would be what?
It would never be balanced and 99% of the people who buy ME3 won't give a shit about MP they are buying it for the story, complete and total waste of resources which would be better spent making the SP experience more awesome.

I see absolutely no point in it at all.

We've got through 2 without MP and I really don't see what good it's going to do for the game or how it would fit in but nevermind.

I won't be buying it for the multiplayer anyway so it means nothing to me.

This could be so much fun, and I'm always up for fun! I have the feeling though that there might be balancing issues if it is pretty much an all Shepard free-for-all. (His Shepard can snap freeze people with shotgun cryo-rounds , my Shepard can mess with your skills and snipe you, and yours can roger others with biotics etc. etc.)

But who knows! It could be something WAY different. I'm sure they will come up with something at least satisfactory. Bioware is by no means perfect, but they have kept me sufficiently entertained with both mass effect games.
Just hope it is not trite and ends up feeling tacked on... Ohhhh I could be setting myself up for disappointment...I don't really know how to feel about this yet. Bleh

As long as they don't put too much effort into the mp at the expense of the single player and story, then fine.

I will give it a look when I get the game if this story is true, but it definately won't take too much time away from me playing the single player elements of the game (which is the main focus of the series after all).

I can't really say anything conclusive before I have more info.

I will say this however, a competitive multiplayer just does not make sense. The combat isn't so strong that I would like to try it in a pvp environment. A co-op could be more interesting, IF they manage to put it in the or a story: including conversations etc. They're doing it in SWTOR, so if they infuse it to ME3, I wouldn't be as upset about that.

Essentially I do think that the time and effort should've been used in enhancing the singleplayer.

Time to have this discussion again, huh?

Allow me to save everyone time and effort by pre-emtively summing up the rest of this thread right here:
- "Noooooooo! Why?!"
- "Eh, no big deal. I'm just in it for the single player."
- "EA, please remove your dick from Mass Effect."
- "Hey, maybe it'll be okay. There's no telling until we get to try it."
- "Fuck you! I'm not buying it now!"
- "Multiplayer is ruining the games industry!"
- "Well shit, this is going to remove resources from the single player."
- "Uh, game development doesn't quite work like that."
- "Yes it does."
- "No it doesn't."
- "Bioware sucks now and has totally sold out and started giving blowjobs on street corners."
- "This actually sounds potentially fun."
- "It's DA2 all over again! Another abortion of a game coming up!"
- "Hey, extra feature. Score!"
- "I didn't care anyway, ME2 already ruined the series forever."
- "Call of Duty sucks!"
- "It's all Obama's fault!"

Yup, that should about cover it.

Oh well, least it's actually confirmed now.

My personal opinion? Unconcerned. Whining about the addition of multiplayer to Mass Effect would be like a Gears of War fan getting pissed off about having 'Beast Mode' in Gears 3. "Oh no, extra features! My world is ending!"

... Ugh.

Maybe it'll be good, I don't know, but I see no reason for it and just really hope it doesn't take away from the single-player experience at all. We'll see. Seriously though, what idiot even said, "You know what needs multiplayer? Mass Effect." Blech.

Well I actully read the article now and it seems that EA has decided all of their AAA game need multiplayer, the article itself say's so.

I mean it could be good but really? Did we really need to put multiplayer in mass effect when everybody gets it for the singleplayer?

5 years later. Mass effect 8 is the best multiplayer game out there but it is the same as mass effect 4,5,6 and 7. It also only has a singleplayer consisting of one 5 mile long corridor filled with enemies and only lasts for 3 hours.

Meanwhile COD: Atlantic Gash At Inner North america or Cod: AGAIN comes out with a 30 hour long single player and is reputed to have the greatest plot ever conceived of. However multiplayer was cut to dedicate more resources into the singleplayer which now has over 10 radically different endings.

I still think people think at MP as deathmatch which i think it's not the case in this scenario, but some sort of weird co-op play, something like Pineacle Station but online(2-4/8players maybe) with world wide best scores and stuff like that.To be honest I'm neutral towards it if it's like that, and it's would not actually be a bad idea since ME has such a huge comunity aftger all.

So if it's smart MP like that would be pretty nice,on the other hand if it's just a cheap deathmatch mode ala quake live with shepards jumping around shooting each other would not only be dumb but would probably give bad publicity even to the single player game no matter how good will be.

Oh, for fuck's sake, EA really is a profit hungry monster.

Why do I think that? Mass Effect's strengths lie in its story, its characters, and its world. The combat is average, and to base a multiplayer mode around it is not only stupid, but a waste of resources as well - resources that could be better used to further the single player.

How would the multiplayer be good anyway? I can't imagine EA creating interesting new modes, and the old ones wouldn't work in a crappy, completely cover based system anyway.

Yeah, just strikes me as pointless. its the third game in a three game series based entirely on single player. and has been said above, the combat in ME is at an "eh" level, rather than anything good, so i just dont see the point.

But...WHY?

Look, rag on me ALL you want, but the gameplay is crap. The gameplay is passable. I don't play Mass Effect for the decent combat. I play it for the story, the characters, the choices, the music, the RPG elements.

My guess is that MP will strip pretty much all of that. I'm not jumping to conclusions, but I really feel it to be a unnecessary addition.
How funny would it actually managed to have dialogue in the multiplayer?

There are no such things as "extra features". That would imply that Bioware got "extra budget" and "extra development time" in which to implement said features. Any man hours spent on multiplayer were spent at the expense of single player. If the end result is an enjoyable game without the kind of corner cutting we saw in Dragon Age 2 (even though I actually liked that game), then fine. But if we get an unpolished, padded single player experience, then I will join the ***** and Moan Brigade.

Will it make the singleplayer experience any worse?

If no, then I don't give a damn. If yes, then I do give a damn. Knowing BioWare though, I doubt it will.

And who knows, maybe it's fun. They said Splinter Cell couldn't have a decent multiplayer, and turned out to be wrong. They said Assassin's Creed couldn't either, but that did have a fantastic multiplayer experience. Who knows, we might be pleasantly surprised.
