Listen to the soundtrack of the new Alone in the Dark. While the game may be a flaming pile of flamingo shit, the soundtrack is a masterpiece. The guy who composed it has this uncanny curse of doing really great music for really terrible games (he also did ObsCure, if anyone knows what that game is.)

I'm not big a fan of Halo, but I was really surprised when Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away came on during the game in Halo 2. I was rocking out on the Covenants faces when I heard that song.

Also, the Snake Eater theme from MGS3 was pretty awesome.

I always wondered why Nintendo never released an album with orchestrated music from the Zelda games.

The best music in a game series? Legend of Zelda.
Other games that have nice soundtracks include Halo 1-3, Kingdom Hearts 1-2, Megaman X5-6, the Elder Scrolls 3+4, Silent Hill 1-3, Banjo Kazooie 1-3, Sonic Adventure, and Dynasty Warriors 4+5.
Black had an interesting soundtrack for an fps; full on orchestral music during firefights.

I'm somewhat surprised no one brought up cover bands. I'm a bit interested in finding some. There was this great band who I can't remember the name of who basically covered all of the well known Zelda songs in the Pittsburg area. They aren?t a cover band The Black Mages do have some great FF songs. "Maybe I'm a lion." although I don't see the comparison to their version of "Otherworld".

As I mentioned sorry if I restarted a dead thread lol. Didn't occur to me to search soundtracks.

So I didn't see anyone post a thread on this but I just watched the newest escapist vid on music in gaming and its a bit ironic to me since I was just telling a friend to get Persona 4 because of its sound track.
So any of you have some fave songs from gaming? When I think of music in gaming i think of Vice city, Persona, Mega-man 2 (You know you love Metal man's theme) and of well.. almost all of the SquareEnix big titles.

Anyways, I'll just post what I said in that thread. I really like the music from the Half-Life (Which I've already pointed out several times in other threads) and the Pikmin series.

Fallout 3's soundtrack was stellar, a great set of songs that stylized the whole experience.

The music from Flatout is amazing (although they werent made for the game). My favorites are The Flatout Theme (ok that one was), Back on the Radio by The Hiss and Baby With Two Heads by The Killer Barbies.

Oh and The Plants vs Zombies music video is hillarious.
