Well I listened to this and it's uh...Different. Sounds like it belongs on Animal Crossing...In a good way.

Here's my recommendation from a criminally under-rated and truly epic band, Fair to Midland, and I don't use the word "epic" willy-nilly:

That was awesome! I actually really, really enjoyed that! Thank you.

This is a very atmospheric piece of music from an European metal band. I don't like most of their other stuff, but this is beautiful. The clip is shit though :/

That's because It's the theme to the character in my avatar. She's a really big cat person

Subsource kinda bugged me but I've never really been a Metal or Dubstep fan. I admire the balls it must take to merge the two genres together though.

I love ska but this band didn't do it for me I'm afraid...not enough energy for my taste...the vocals were grating as well.

God I love this guy...I've known about him for so fucking long but never picked up an album...I really wish I had now. Great stuff from a musical talent with an amazing story behind it.

Many of my friends from college loved this band but it was never my thing... I've tried to like them but it's just not to my taste...they do make some pretty rad videos though. Also, the acoustic in this song is pretty awesome.

Ok, so my contribution is going to be a guy who's quickly becoming my favourite artist of all time...out of anything else I listen to. I would just like to point out that this is quite a feat considering my main musical preference is punk, hardcore and metalcore; fast, angry and loud. Without further ado, I give you Astronautalis, whose most recent album This is Our Science broke the iTunes top 10 hip-hop chart on word-of-mouth alone, without any expensive marketing or advertising help

A song about the history of a con artist.

A song about teh Battle of trenton during teh American Civil War.

Footage of Astronautalis freestyling at one of his shows. The idea is that he gets the audience to shout topics for him to freestlye about and then he picks 5 of them. It's incredible, especially considering the things he agrees to do. This one features: The Nercromancer of the year, Unicorns, "Tha 90s", The Light Bright and the 63 tacos you should eat before you die. All dedicated to the corpse of Kanye West's mother. Even if you dislike rapping...this is pure genius.

EDIT: added teh freestyle video in...which i orginally forgot lol.

I was so, so tempted to RickRoll this thread. But I'll play nicely this time.

If Im honest, I did struggle to understand what was said, but it's not a bad song. It certainly wasn't bad enough to make me stop it before it finished.

I'm sure a couple of people- probably more, given the Escapist is full of the target demographic- have heard of Tim Minchin, but if you haven't heard him then listen to this.

PS Yes, I am aware of the irony in not understanding one Australian band and yet recommending another Aussie. Don't know why I can fathom one but not the other.

I checked out this link, and I gotta admit, its pretty friggin rad. Quite a cool fusion, and I have a soft spot for upright bass.

Subsource
A metal/dubstep crossover band, one of the best live acts I've seen in the last few years.

I've got to recommend Pendulum, an amazing Drum & Bass outfit. Just discovered them a couple of weeks ago, and have been listening to it almost exclusively ever since. Amazing music, great vocals. They strike me as a cross between The Prodigy and Faunts. No music has obsessed me like this for a long time.

My love to you sir, been a fan for 6 years, but only saw them live last year! D:

Oh, and I have to recommend William Bevan aka. Burial.

It's hard to describe in words.

And that deadmau5 remix? Fucking brilliant. My hats to Sokratik.
