Hey, you're the same guy I had a discussion about Warpaint in another thread. It seems like only us two know of this awesome band.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:OP, sounds to me like you need to prescribe yourself some Jazz. There's an entire world of instrumental music of dazzling beauty and intricacy, that not only will make you smarter and help you study, but will also get you laid and make you ten times cooler.
John Coltrane: A Love Supreme, Miles Davis: Kind Of Blue, In A Silent Way, The Brecker Brothers, Cannonball Adderley: Somethin' Else, Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius: Bright Size Life... there's a whole world of amazing Jazz music out there that will provide exactly the soundtrack you need to become the smartest, coolest cat in class.

Pretty darn awesome. These guys speak the truth. Heed their words.Jazoni89 said:I think you need more Warpaint in your life.
I don't know what it is, but their's something incredibly beautiful about their songs, and soothing too.
They are an all-female band as well, which is quite the rarity in this day and age.
Here are some songs.
It's all about Jenny Lee Lindberg for me. Beautiful woman, and one hell of a bass tone. Practically purrs out of my speakers...I absolutely adore this band, I've seen them twice already, and even shook hands with all the girls. Emily Kokal is one hell of a woman.
Well, what I mean't to say is in this forum however.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:Indeed. Well, not strictly us two. I doubt they'd be touring like they are if it were only us two who were aware of them.Jazoni89 said:Hey, you're the same guy I had a discussion about Warpaint in another thread. Hey, Emily and Theresa are pretty damn hot too. No disagreements from me there. Not that that's how I judge them or anything, but the fact that they're great musicians and all pretty dang pleasant on the eyes... hopefully more women will be inspired by Warpaint. Because more beautiful women with guitars is exactly what the world needs right now.Funny you say that, everyone I talked to seemed to have the crazy hots for Jenny Lee at the Reading festival. Maybe I'm not seeing it, or something, but I've always been a Theresa, and Emily man.
Ouch, it really hurt reading that, but yeah I guess so.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:Damn straight. They write their own songs, they play their own instruments, and pretty well at that for an indie band, and they're making it big on their terms. That's what being a musician is all about, whether you're a man or a woman, and kudos to them.Jazoni89 said:That's what I like so much about Warpaint, it's a huge middle finger to all of that overly sexualized female pop music. It's this strong female music that should be more prevalent in the industry, and hell warpaint would make better role models to young females than Rihanna or Lady Gaga will ever be.
-_-PJ Harvey is another artist leading the march for strong female music. There should be more of this kind of music, and it just depressing how much of a hard time females get when they are doing something other than pop or soul music. PJ Harvey has been making music for twenty years, Twenty Motherfucking Years! and in that time, she has done all sorts of genre's, ranging from her early grunge albums, to her more recent folk music, and she's still not as popular as she should be, but she don't care, she just loves making music, which is what bands like warpaint are striving for. The sex is the music, and not the people in the bands, granted it's a nice bonus to have, but it's not why I liked warpaint in the first place.
...so, you're a PJ Harvey fan, huh? Well, I suppose there are worse things to admit to.Like being a Bieber fan
Ok, that was unkind of me. Let's just say that, while I respect her artistic stance and unwillingness to compromise, I cannot stand PJ Harvey's music. Beige waffle of the highest order. Compared to the divine likes of Joni Mitchell, Billie Holiday and Sandy Denny, she's really not that special.
I'm ranting. Let me stop. I should simply say that in my opinion, what you see as twenty years still without the deserved recognition, I see as twenty years of passable music that have resulted in two Mercury prizes and a lot of recognition over other, better artists.
...guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, yes?
