Easy answer, Interstellar 5555 album from Daft Punk. Each music video is one part of an entire movie.

Always liked this one, much better than the movie it came from:

Rammstein are a good band for music videos. The lyrics for Ohne Dich are about the pain of losing someone. Rosenrot is another music video they've done with a clear story behind it.

I totally agree. It's basically a cartoon movie broken up into 14 (?) music video's. Each clip has it's own song setting the mood for that part. The music is a bit hit and miss imo, but the story is the best I've ever seen in music video's.

Other songs I can think of:
I find this one pretty relevant to the last few years:

The story is pretty nonsensical, but still uses interesting visuals and I always like watching the clip. Some others of this band too:

I can't access Youtube since I'm on my lunch break on my work computer, which blocks Youtube (and Facebook too :p), but if I can post the videos later I will. Basically, anything from 30 Seconds to Mars. The frontman, Jared Leto, is a Hollywood actor and director/writer as well as being a musician, and he's been in some pretty decent films (Requiem for a Dream and Lord of War, among others), so he's well placed to come up with amazing videos for the band's music. Every video I've seen from them is awesome, but honourable mentions have to go to the following:

- The Kill (a tribute to 'The Shining', with a story about the band caretaking at a haunted hotel)
- From Yesterday (where the boy emperor of Imperial China transports the band to play for his birthday and they travel through the Forbidden City)
- This Is War (the band are soldiers in the video as a mix of real news footage and filmed material present a scathing attack on war and conflict)
- Hurricane (a 13 minute epic sampling other songs from the same album, though the plot of the video is pretty damn confusing...)

By the way, always make sure to watch the full, UNCENSORED versions of 30 Seconds to Mars' videos. MTV have a habit of censoring them and cutting them down for the other music channels, and for Youtube, so it can take some tracking down to find the uncensored original videos. But it's well worth it.

There's too many to mention, and I'll be sorry I missed some better ones but off the top of my head...

Korn - Falling Away from me: For engaging the topic boldly.

Slick Rick - Behind Bars: For art style, and abstraction of his take on what happened.

When I think of music videos with good stories, this is the first one that comes to mind:

I really like this video and the story within. This second song, although most videos by Lordi have a nice horror themed narrative, I'm spamming alot at the minute, so I feel it deserves being shown.

This is fun. Now if someone could start a funny music videos thread, I've already got one in mind. ;)

Without cheating, see if you can figure out what the plot behind the video for Childish Gambino's "Bonfire" is.

The Openings and endings to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are really just four minute mindfucks, but they're actually quite symbolic in their odd ways, considering the oddly religious imagery. They just make a lot more sense if you've read the last chapter of the manga... particuarly the full version of "No, No, You Can't Dance" which is otherwise 4 minutes of weirdness.

They're not really music videogs in that sense, seeing as how they're openings and endings, but I suppose they're downright psychotic and cryptic enough to be appreciated.
Because of my inability to do anything, I can't redirect you to the song through this comment without someone dying. Sorry.

Edit: Found one that's pretty neat, and even better, won't instill psychosis in someone.

Come on people. This is Serious. I know this one made me a little delirious. Bare witness to fish eye lens and clipped frames galore.
