I usually listen to music while drawing/painting. If it's a specifically action heavy image I like to really throw in some heavier/faster music.

What I was painting:

What was listening to when making:
^My favorite band

^My brothers band.

So yeah, I was doing an action thing so I wanted something more umph-y with my music to keep me motivated I s'pose.

Do you have a specific thing you like to do with your music? Example: Jogging while listening to the Rocky OST. Share some tunes while you're at it!

I can't play video games at all without my own music. I can't walk around town alone without listening to music. I can't play drums without listening to my music.

Come to think of it, I can't do many things without music.

Really? ...Hah I can't play most games with other music over it it just throws things off or something I guess. Unless the music is particularly bad. Burnout comes to mind, ah yes nothing quite goes together with exploding cars quite like emoish bands.

I do just about everything with music, and more often than not just simply find myself deciding what to play next while listening to what's on. I've certainly done good these past couple of years making up for a particularly long sonic drought.

It's absolutely essential to my existence now, at almost all times.

When playing a game for the first time, I'll sacrifice my music just for once. I agree that the music could be distracting if you're trying to get a full experience from a game.

I usually play my own music while playing Oblivion, Crackdown, CoD4 Multiplayer, World of Warcraft etc.

I usually listen to music while sitting in the train,
or sometimes while playing games.
I try not to do that to often, though, since it completely blocks out the rest of the world.
Right now, while posting on the escapist, I'm listening to this:

A Hermit's Cave
Depends what kind of music...

Baroque - writing
Rock - FPS multiplayer, and really loud
Foreign (any genre that I may possess) - reading
Instrumental (a genre that I can't quite place, but think Rob Dougan and similar) - sparring

I tend not to listen to music while gaming...

Some of those fair enough, Oblivion? What kind of tunes do you listen to in that game?

I think there's 2 games I've ever dropped other music on. EDF:2017 (because that game NEEDS metal) and Sonic Unleashed, there wasn't very many fitting Sonic songs so...I just grabbed other Sonic songs and that was that haha.

I do a lot of things while listening, in fact I do most things while listening. Many would argue that you can't truly appreciate music if you don't consider it on it's own with no distractions, but I disagree somewhat. I do believe that you get more out of music if you play close attention to it, and if you have a larger body of musical knowledge(history, theory etc) you can sometimes find enjoyment in different styles for different reasons. However, I think people undervalue what you can experience by listening while doing other things, as the doing of those things could influence your perception of the music and potentially even make it better.

I've heard someone say that but I always felt it can go either way, Music can be used to enhanced something else or it can be to just enjoy while sitting back. I mean music is an art form so why not do it with some drawings/paintings? Makes sense to me!

I've usually got my eyes shut and my butt planted firmly in my seat when I do listen to music. I can't really concentrate on much when I listen to music, so I usually get my fix through Youtube when on the computer (and I can't even go onto other websites and do things with music playing :/).

Playing a game that doesn't require audio to enjoy, like Rogue Survivor, a great zombie roguelike RPG.

Well during most games I just use any music. My favourite genres are Classic Rock, Metal, Punk. I have some classical stuff and even a few rap songs (Eww), just for diversity.

But during Oblivion I like listening to prog rock! My favourite band is probably Rush. They have all sorts of surreal and experimental songs. I find their music very appropriate while exploring caves and walking around the world. Playing Oblivion while listening to Rush 2112 is amazing,

I prefer soft and relaxing music while playing RPGs usually.

Pretty much everything. I normally have it playing as background noise.

I listen to music pretty much all the time, when I play games, tidy up, go to bed, wake up, sometimes even when I am watching tv I stick a headphone in and listen to both, but the best time to listen to music is when I am cooking.

Doing homework, reading animé reviews, and listening to Frank Zappa. Lots and lots and lots of Frank Zappa.

At least, that's been my routine for the past couple of weeks.

I usually listen to music when riding on the bus or when I'm working on a model in my design studio class. Sometimes I play air guitar if the song warrants it, which leads people to give me weird looks.
