I used to listen to "3 Inches of Blood" when I would play as the Undead in WoW. It just worked.

The Liars album "Drums Not Dead" seems to work with any game at the moment. It just has the right mix of ambience to give any game, space to take over the experience and work well with the music.

Depends on the game. A game that has people speaking I won't usually listen to music during so mI can hear the dialogue. Otherwise, a little rock or metal can make a game leagues better.

Listening to any music during online play means two of two things:

1.I can't hear other squaddies talking.
2.I can't hear enemies moving, getting in vehicles, shooting, missing near me, or anything.

So I only tend to do it in singleplayer or when I'm lone wolfing.

J-Pop. Just replayed the last level of Halo 3 to find the 'secret' mongoose vehicle with a bunch of J-pop blazing in the background. I must say I found it better than the Halo theme that's usually playing when I do that level.

Depends on the game but I rarely do it because I have not found a streaming solution for my 360 that does not suck ass.

Only two times I have done it, first was playing Kameo just to try it out, but the music in the game was fitting so I stopped it.

Second time was playing Dead rising attempting to alleviate the boredom of getting 50k (or something) kills for the achievement, also to turn off that bloody terrible music the convicts put on whenever I went to get a new sports car.

WC3 mods= Iron Maiden, Dio, The Doors, The Beatles, Etc.
FPS= FPS game music is usually pretty well done, fits the mood.
MMO's= anything BUT game music.
Anything else=Everything else.

I don't have teh Box of X.

Rammstein (and different songs thereof, work well for any situation).

FPS: Du Hast, Ich Will, Mann Gegen Mann or somesuch.

Something slower-paced like an RPG: Rosenrot, Reise Reise or Mutter.

Most of the time i listen to Disturbed and bullet for my valentine but if i am doing single player mode on Starcraft for example i turn it off so i can hear important things being said but it annoys me now that i cant have the game music on because the disk is scratched and when it gets to a certain point of a certain song it freezes up. And most of the time game music can be quite nice...

I really do enjoy playing playing outside music while I play games. Like Until It Sleeps by Metallica while playing Silent Hill.

My friends usual play inconsistent music when we play games. When I finally heard the song "Indestructible" I was revealed. The funny and ironic part is the person who played that got his ass kicked while the song was still playing.

When playing Stalker not too long ago, I was playing Mutant Messages by Juno Reactor. It worked better than I thought!

I tried to play WASP's Neutron Bomber as TF2's Pyro but it caused the game to crash so no music there:(

This thread is incredibly convenient for me as I'm trying to create different play list for games and books.

Hm... Well, I don't have a specific song or genre that I listen to while gaming. I usually play a bit of Radiohead to gemme relaxed and in the zone. At the moment, I'm playing MarioKart and I'm blasting Turning Japanese. It all depends on how I'm doing in the game combined with my mood etc...

It's been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it in BeverlyHillsNinja, which I think I first watched... 3+ years ago ? It's so catchy though. I can't helping singing the chorus n.n

Depends on what I'm playing. If its an MMORPG ann I'm grinding, probably jazz, somethign to keep me entertained. Racing, generally avenged sevenfold, disrturbed perhaps. And FPS's I dont know why but i love classic rock while doign FPS'. Somethign about voodoo child playing in the backgroudn jsut feels...wicked.

Disturbed for any FPS and nothing for RPGs. RPGs need that extra focus. Not to help with gameplay, just to make it enjoyable.
