Epica. Epica is pretty good. Oh, and then, of course, there's also Epica. Did I mention Epica?

In the rock world, I can't live without Rise Against, Chevelle, and Breaking Benjamin.

For something more mellow and atmospheric, I couldn't live without select pieces from the Chrono Cross soundtrack. Nobuo Uematsu gets most of the fantasy nerd cred for making the soundtracks to Final Fantasy 1-10, but I think that Yasunori Mitsuda's work in Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears sets him apart as a composer with very evocative and atmospheric music.

I absolutely cannot live without symphonic metal.

Look up Within Temptation - Solemn Hour for example.... Too good... Too good...

I'd go crazy if I couldn't listen to any of my Post-Hardcore or Metalcore bands that I love so much. I honestly would go crazy if I couldn't listen to The Devil Wears Prada, We Came As Romans, Attack Attack!, Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, August Burns Red, or Underoath, and any other band in that genre that I love.

How about some nice Southern Rock. Go look up Black Stone Cherry. I just posted two of their songs on a different thread but here is one of them.

Damn you that song was kinda sad, very good also.

Thank you.
I am pissed at myself right now I cannot find that CD at all. I have it its just MIA currently. Also if you can find a good version like on playlist.com I would suggest listening to You. Their new CD just came out a month ago and it is also very good.

Seeing as how music is not one of those things that is necessary for human beings to stay alive, the question seems a little redundant, but if we strip away the hyperbole and this just becomes "Music you really like and would be bummed out to see gone"

Barenaked Ladies, Voltaire and Lady Gaga (yeah, I like her music. Got a problem with it?)

Also Weird Al.

Awesome! Usually my friends only like 1 of them but not 2 or 3 so it's nice to find someone who has such a varied taste in music like me.

These are my favourite song from my top 5 musicians...if you like any of them then check out more of their songs because there are MANY good ones from them all. I know I am barely mixing things up (everyone more or less has heard of all these musicians) but thats for a good reason because they are all awesome!

That's asking for a lot, there are so many bands (mostly classical) that inspired and improved the industry. It would be a very different world with out artists like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beethoven, you get the point.

Honestly, I can live with out all of them since it's not really a necessity. However, I want to mention some songs I absolutely adore.

First of, Karn Evil 9 (3rd Impression) by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. A 70s progressive rock group. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJaEYIQzm30
If you listen to this the whole way through you will notice it just keeps changing, it repeats most parts twice and then straight onto something different. If that's not creative then nothing is, and I can't go with out saying that this is the second most powerful rock song I've ever heard. Also, I love it because they choose a different topic (with help from Sinfield) to sing about other than love or religion, or something similiar. Nope! This about (even though I'm not 100% sure. Probably about 98%) artificial intelligence supporting humans fight a war and then something changes at the end (I'm not spoiling it).

Second, One from Metallica. 80s I think thrash metal group. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzgGTTtR0kc
A song I discovered when I was very young through Napster (I don't download anymore, I was pressured into it. SHUT UP!), and I'm glad I did because I probably would have only found about them at the age of 20. Possibly the most chaotic song I've ever heard switching from moody dark melody to dramatic to ballistic, so you can't say it's not different. And it's also very powerful through the lyrics and the melody on it's own merits, lyrics being about a war-time novel which is about how they you used to experiment on limbless but still alive soldiers. It's the first non pop rock song I heard and it inspired me to find more interesting songs like it.

I am a very big fan of Voltaire. I really like his style particularly God Thinks from the album Almost Human. <youtube=HkXPyY9Wo_A>
And I just remembered Stuck With You from the album Ooky Spooky. <youtube=_FNHM4WDE8E>
