I don't consider any type of music noise, only because you don't understand something doesn't mean its garbage. I don't like chart music but some people like it and that's fine by me. To each their own.

You have obviously never heard a live recording

OT: Keisha (auto tune is making it not noise, her live recordings are shockingly close to noise), gangster rap (I quite like regular rap if it has meaning), dubsteps (having a drill as an instrument is just noise) and some experimental new age stuff. A lot of John Cages work is just noise

Emo
Screamo
Death/Black Metal
Various other hardcore stuff.
Modern hip-hop

All music is noise it just depends what you like. Personally i dont like a lot of music, although i would never devalue anyones music by describing it as 'just noise'. Its music i dont like.

Death and Black Metal is beautiful art.
To each their own I suppose. Thrash metal is about as high as my extreme-o-meter goes, after that to me it becomes unlistenable.

Every. Single. Rap song. In existence. EXCEPT. Except, "Row Row, Fight da Powah".
Satanic metal.
Scream-o metal.
Pop.

I love instrumental metal. I love orchestral. I love Jazz. I love Rock. I love some Techno. i love very little Country. I love Normal Metal. I love Japanese Rock (You know you love it). I love soft things.

I cannot STRESS how much I DESPISE Rap music. It's just a beat and some guy RANTING, No, I don't call it singing, I call it RANTING, RANTING into a mic or a synthesizer, most likely a synthesizer. A Badly hidden synthesizer, while ridiculous girls in the background make noises like they're having an orgasm.
Satanic metal is basically some dude ripping his larynx apart to rapid-fire electic guitar and drums.
Scream-o metal is basically the same, only in the opposite direction of pitch.
Pop is just teenage girly shit.

Hell yeah. I'm a hypocrite. I'm human and can't help it, and I don't care :D.

And guys, stop dissing on Sunn O))). It is an objective truth that they are awesome. Everybody's narrow-mindedness regarding music here is really disappointing me, because only my narrow-mindedness is valid, which is also an objective fact.

Yes I'm aware that it has rhythm and such, but breakcore noises are just so... Noisey.

Screamo= Exactly what the name implies; Screaming. Its just noise. Noise that actually manages to creep me out.

I also dislike most rap (I like a few Eminem songs) and stuff like Miley Cyrus/Justin Beaver is just awful.

Edit: I'm going to throw Techno into my awful noise list as well.

Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's not music.

But really, really, really heavy metal is just noise. Once you get past the level of Devildriver it starts getting a little shit.
Its not noise, its you hearing noise.
Well if we're going to be like that about it all music is me hearing noise.

What I'm saying is that when you play notes that quickly, that low, and that distorted it just turns into a mess. Not all really heavy metal is like that (I don't like it, but still), but a large proportion of it is. Which is a shame, because lots of them have the potential to be really damned good.
And if you want to get tha specific, all music is sound. Noise is the un-interpreted vibrations in the air before entering your reverbrating, and being interpreted as sound by the brain.

Iron Maiden is Noise? Hammerfall, Storm Warrior, Dream Evil, Kamelot?

Listen to those bands? Sure they're power metal, but with HUGE heavy metal influences... Lyrics and meanings...

Gotta say I love the "Just because you don't like it doens't make it music... But heavy metal is just noise"
Read the damn post again. And possibly read this one too. Hammerfall and Iron Maiden aren't "really, really, really heavy metal". Surely there must be a point where if you play music really heavy it becomes noise? Wouldn't you agree that a song that is 600bpm and distorted as hell is just noise to human ears?[/quote]

So you're confusing heavy metal with metalcore and death metal. Got it.

You misunderstand me. I don't mean "really, really, really heavy-metal", I mean "Really-really-really-heavy metal". There's a difference, right? Deathcore etc are still heavy. Heavy metal (oddly) isn't really the heaviest metal around. I'm referring to the kind of metal that's too heavy to be coherent.
