The most recent band I discovered was this russian metalcore band that I like. I can't understand what they're saying but I like it anyway.

Your avatar is frightening on SCP Containment Breach levels, bro.
I know that and that is one of the reasons it is my avatar. But it's mostly since I love dolan duck and I love the dolan face :p

While searching Pantera on youtube I found Dixie Hustler, Texas Hippie Coalition.
I recently was introduced to Gogol Bordello (Ukranian-New York Folk-Punk), for me a logical progression from Alestorm (Scottish Pirate Metal) and Turisas (Finnish Viking Metal), what can I say, I like the obscure genres

Well, I came across this band a while ago. A Japanese band that plays Swedish trallpunk. Blew my mind... not only did I think Swedish trallpunk was unheard of outside of Sweden, but they (try to) sing in Swedish as well!

Bonus song to spread the genre some more;

Hm, who's the last band I discovered? A friend posted a Turisas song this morning that was pretty good. Haven't checked out their stuff yet though. I went to a live show a few weeks ago with a band called The Program Initiative. They play instrumental post rock/metal from behind a screen where they project a video tying into their overall concept. It was kickass.

But if we're talking about well known acts, probably Gojira, goddamn can they put on a live show.

Since Spotify finally became available in Germany a few months ago I have done a lot of exploring in terms of new music and bands. And today I visited Youtube to get myself a taste of the latest Diablo Swing Orchestra single - and guess what? I've been clicking around cool new music in the last 3 hours or so....

Anyway, here's some recently discovered awesome stuff

Well, that happens when you follow up leads from the Diablo Swing Orchestra....

Some rather normal progressive stuff...

....and then some awesome instrumental stuff

I really need to buy all their albums now - EVERY SINGLE ONE:

...and some random art-rock stuff

...and some random Mike Patton stuff I discovered recently. The makers evidently decided just to put up the whole album as a live concert on youtube...so enjoy...

The album Cities from The Cat Empire is just insanely awesome....

...as are Ravel's Miroirs.

*tips hat* Now back to lurking....

I just started listening to some Jeff Buckley. Not in the least bit new to many people, but I hadn't heard much of it before, and it's really quite good.

I quite literally discovered a group/artist named Passenger of shit five minutes ago... It's... Interesting is maybe the way to put it.

I like them a bit, but like hell if I will ever go to a concert where they play.

I just discovered this:

while looking for a video to post in a Diablo 3 thread, and it's everything that's wrong with hipsters and their music in a nutshell. Twin. Lens. Reflex. Cameras. Do. Not. Work. That. Way. Neither does photo development.

Awesome british unblock metal band called Wintersoul (not to be confused with the goth band Winter Soul), and a finnish (I think) Melodeath band called Immortal Souls. Good stuff.

In fact they are.

They had some hit singles in the early 00's around here if I recall correctly - case in point "Kumba Yo!":

I'd also recommend Lords Of The Boards, Open Your Eyes and Big In Japan...

Thanks btw of bringing their new album to my attention - never thought they'd get together again after their hiatus years back....

Video Game-themed American speed metal band, Powerglove. Their cover of the Pokemon theme is incredible.

None, really. All the artists I listen to I've been listening to for over a year. Can't really find too many that I enjoy listening to.

I just heard Julia Holter for the first time the other day after buying her new album on a whim. She's super quiet and subtle and all her songs peak in super subdued ways and just kind of drift along in a fascinating little haze. It's a departure from 90% of my playlist, but whatever, it's good stuff

I haven't really started listening to anything completely new; I've been getting much more into Nine Inch Nails recently, but I've always been vaguely aware of Trent Reznor being awesome. I think it took a while to get into, it's not all quite as depressing as a lot of people think.

Baby Metal.
I read about them in Otaku USA magazine.
They're a japanese metal band, but the singers are all schoolgirls. 14, 12, and 12.
Its not what I normally listen to, but its not metal enough that I can't stand it.
