Well the year is coming to a close, so I figured now would be a good time to share some music. Only rule of the thread is that it has to be something that was released in 2013. Studio or live, doesn't matter. It would be helpful to put album titles as well as song titles in your description since ideally this thread will help us all find some new music to go listen to. So what have you got? Here are a few to get us started...

I am a fan of mashups yes n.n

If I had to choose a 'proper' song, it'd be Bound 2. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPxkp2F-nAQ]

I See Stars beautiful new album, that blends techno and metalcore flawlessly. It's a masterpiece. They somehow topped their last album, which was also amazing.

If I trusted my CD player in the car not to break again, I would be listening to this album every time I went somewhere.

I'm weird with music, I'm not up to date with very much of anyone.

This year had some good ERB.

Loved the new Touche Amore, Deafheaven, DJ Rashad, Danny Brown, Pusha T, The Knife, Run the Jewels and Tim Hecker. 2013 has seriously been a great year for music.

I have really no clue why but this song is "Sing at the top of your lungs at a volume that might blow your speakers out" awesome to me.

This is my favored kind of rock; hard(ish) music with clean vocals. Something about the chorus really strikes cord with me for some reason

"And now, I finally know what it feels like, to risk everything and still survive"

Not sure why that sticks to me so much but I adore this song.

Avantasia is one of my favorite bands, and The Mystery of Time didn't disappoint. I'm sort of hoping that this isn't the last album from them, and, like always, Tobias seems to treat each new one as a potential last one. If it does turn out that way, then at least they ended with a great one.

Yeah, most people seem to be in agreement that this was finally the album that got Children of Bodom back on track. Regardless of whether or not it actually did that for them, it was still a great album overall.

As usual, Amon Amarth put out a great album. Personally, I'm still trying to determine if this is better than Twilight of the Thunder God.

Finally, Live at the End of the World from Alestorm. Even as someone who doesn't like live albums most of the time, I actually did enjoy this one.

Coming as a guy who mainly listens to music composed by people who have been dead for decades or centuries, you're killing me.

Here's the only one I can recall, a first professional composition by a novice composer that was written sometime in the summer of 2013. It's real reminiscent of Stravinsky, and I really like Stravinsky's compositions. Saw it on Reddit's Classical Music subreddit.

Besides anything from Daft Punk, Avicii, Ninja Sex Party, Bentalfloss, and/or Doug Walker...

That last one I have no regrets saying that I like it more than I thought I would...

This year I found little to like. 2013 will go into history as the most boring year in music history, being even more boring than 1986, and that year was BOOOOORING!

I have completely stopped listening to radio, so I don't really know what came out this year. There is exactly one decent radio station where I live and it's hit and miss.

This year I've mostly been listening to various anime and game soundtracks. The RWBY soundtrack came out this year and that's pretty great, so I guess that counts?

EDIT: Oh I forgot! Within Temptation's new single which features the one and only Tarja of Nightwish fame!

It was only a boring year if you didn't pay attention to what was going on. Tons of good music came out this year, as well as very new and innovative projects. If you really think this year was boring, then you weren't paying attention enough.

And there's a TON more. This year was really good for metal, thank the gods.

Re-posting because I'm a lazy fuck:

Whilst there's still quite a few things I haven't given a thorough listening to just yet, these would be my picks for the best albums I've heard in 2013 thus far (in no particular order):

My Bloody Valentine ? m b v [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBKjhgHGVZs]
Steven Wilson ? The Raven That Refused to Sing [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w8SY_9yO8k]
Ghost ? Infestissumam [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkoIEbjbsM]
Black Sabbath ? 13 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8grID7sYkc]
Birth AD ? I Blame You [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETjTks4xSkw]
Shining ? One One One [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB-1Or6chks]
Gorguts ? Coloured Sands [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg6bWoH_aUU]
Deafheaven ? Sunbather [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWyVhIBmdGw]
Foxygen ? We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq19haZ0w7s]
Exivious ? Liminal [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkaLwZePdKM]
Ulver ? Messe I.X ? VI.X [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtHEFDVSfvs]
Dreadnought ? Lifewoven [http://dreadnoughtdenver.bandcamp.com/track/nascence]

I haven't picked up/listened to nearly as many albums as I did last year, but at the same time I feel pretty confident in saying that 2012 was generally a much better year for music, part of the reason I was listening to more stuff was because I thought there was a lot more on offer.

I'ma post this one 'cos it's way out of the norm for me. I usually like heavy rock kind of stuff (think disturbed) to kind of heavy stuff (think hatebreed).

The song I like is "Lorde - Royals", I like it 'cos there is a lack of music really, it's mostly her voice and a click. It's just nice and harmonious .. easy listening I guess.

This is the non US version (which is apparently better? So sorry if it wont play)

There's loads of wicked stuff out this year but this is definitely my favourite album. PtH are just too fucking good, everything about them is absolutely ridiculous (including that video).

The Bronx- The Bronx
Killswitch Engage- Disarm The Descent
The Dillinger Escape Plan- One of Us Is the Killer
Clutch- Earth Rocker
Red Fang- Whales and Leeches
Stone Sour- House of Gold and Bones Pt.2
Norma Jean- Wrongdoers
Streetlight Manifesto- The Hands That Thieve
Nine Inch Nails- Hesitation Marks
Black Sabbath- 13
Black Tusk- Tend No Wounds
Kylesa- Ultraviolet
Airbourne- Black Dog Barking
Tesseract- Altered State
Kvelertak- Meir
Evan Brewer- Your Itenary
Alice In Chains- The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
Such a great year, I don't know what people are moaning about. It does seem like there were fewer 'big' releases this year, but there's been a lot of smaller, interesting bands releasing awesome stuff (and Alter Bridge and Motorhead releasing the same albums again for the umpteenth time).

EDIT: Waaaaay forgot the How To Destroy Angels album that came out. That was awesome, I actually much prefer it to the Nine Inch Nails one.

Anime music counts right? Yeah course it does. I think the first Attack on Titan needs no further introduction

Also this

As you can tell, I have no idea what supposedly normal music is right now. It's nothing but game soundtracks, anime soundtracks and Space Jam remixes for me.

I've enjoyed the new Atoms For Peace (Amok) and Nick Cave (Push the Sky Away) albums a lot this year. But there's been a lot of different stuff i enjoyed, i don't really know what my favourite moments have been. The new Coheed and cambria (The Afterman Descension), How to Destroy Angels, Gorguts (Colored sands?), Cathedral (The Last Spire, Damned Cathedral migh be my favourite track of the year), Kavinsky, Dpeche Mode (Delta Machine, best album they've made in quite some time, Dave Gahans voice is stronger than ever here) and David Bowie (The Next Day, didn't see this one coming, but i'm glad it did), that's some of my favourite releases of the year.

I was a bit dissapointed by The Knife, i have a very hard time figuring out what Shaking The Habitual was supposed to be and i can't really find a way to get into it :/. Black Sabbath was a fairly mediocre and outright boring affair, wasn't expecting much though. The new Ulcerate got a lot of hype, but i still haven't found any appreciation for it, hopefully it will come, but right now i'm slightly dissapointed.

There's also a couple of albums that i have been looking forward to, that i haven't bought yet, like the new Ulver, Nine Inch Nails, Andi Deris, Newsted, Voivod, Suede and a bunch of other stuff. I'd say it was an interesting year for music.

Everyone else has mentioned a bunch of the best metal albums this year, but no Surgical Steel? For shame!

Also, the power-violence band Nails had a new release this year. It was great. That is all.
