I love these two bands. Billy Talent III is one of my favorite albums.
I think that II and III are equally matched in their amazingness, just different in terms of subject matter. It's cool because every single one of their songs sound totally unique. I'm expecting great things from them in the future... with inevitably named Billy Talent IV -_-

I might have something you're looking for.
Aahn, yes. CAKE is perfect.

Also, I highly recommend the New York Dolls.

EDIT: Am i the only one who expected this thread to be about being musically challenged, like tone-deaf?

Ah, album names. Stumping bands since the beginning of time.

I remember the days when I thought Billy Talent was one guy... *puts on rose colored glasses*

Alternatively, ignore all suggestions in this thread and start listening to metal.

Depending on where you are from, you might or might not know of Muse.
This is true. If he is from under a rock, in a cave, on the dark side of Mars, he may not know of them. If he's from Planet Earth or somewhere in the near vicinity, he will know of them.

Come to Canada. We specialize in not knowing about bands like Muse. They are popular everywhere in the world except in here.

I've got a few suggestions, depending on what you like.

A good indie rock album (I guess that's how you'd describe it) is the first Between the Trees album, The Story and the Song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nuG0GvzF8k

An indie band called Wolf Parade is also pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktu_vAzhYcs (This video isn't the whole song, but you can look up the full version)

It got slightly popular, but the most recent The Killers album is also worth a look. It was the first album I didn't rip from a friend's cd, and it's still one of my favorite albums.

If you're looking for a little prog rock, a good one is the aforementioned Rush, but I'd also suggest Jethro Tull (folk-prog), Glass Hammer (I think Symphonic Prog is the classification, maybe Hard Prog), and Soft Machine (Jazz Rock/Fusion).

The last thing I've got up my sleeve are some Alternative/Pyschedelic Hip-Hop groups. The first is called Subtle, and the other is cLOUDDEAD. They're both great, especially in comparison to popular hip-hop.

I hope you enjoy some of these.

I'll be the first to recommend some Crossfade.

Hella yeah.
