Sunn O)))

The fact that they've soundtracked nothing so far is a crime.
Yeah this is so true. They could make a crazy good horror score I imagine. Just really dank, musty stuff.

As for me...
I certainly want to hear Daft Punk try out more soundtracks, since the OST for Tron was stellar.
And Lustmord should have been doing stuff like forever ago. I have a music mod for Morrowind that allows me more places to specify for when certain tracks play, and I've got daedric ruins loaded up with his stuff (and the afore mentioned
Sunn O) and it makes for some damn creepy dungeon delves.

Kyle Gabler, the half of 2D boy who wrote the soundtrack for World of Goo needs to make more. That soundtrack was fantastic in how it accompanied gameplay and gave each level a unique atmosphere.

Trent Reznor already did some stuff for Quake didn't he? Because pretty much everything he does is good.
Since all of his music from Ghosts I-IV is non-copyrighted, it's been used in quite a few game mods and things to that angle, [a href="http://www.moddb.com/mods/minerva"]Minerva[/a] in particular seems to have a lot of his music in it.

I think it would have been awesome if Seikima II made another game as part of the Quarter Century of Rebellion thing that they did a year or three ago. Seikima II is a Japanese metal band from...I wanna say late 80's, early 90's (maybe mid-80's early 90's). They have had a single foray into gaming in the past too with Seikima II: Akuma no Gyakushu on the Famicom. I think it was just a standard platformer but could be wrong since I don't own it yet.

I always wanted to play a game with a soundtrack made just by Nujabes[footnote]R.I.P[/footnote]... The closest game that comes to mind with him giving a hand to its soundtrack was "Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked"...

Other than that, I can't imagine Gorillaz doing an entire video game soundtrack, though... and that makes me kinda sad... (Maybe leading the overall tone of the soundtrack, though...)

Er herm.

Disappointing that we have a guy who makes video game music on this site and no one has suggested him.

MIRACLE OF SOUND!

Out of legions of other awesome tracks, this is probably the most soundtrack-ey

For other musicians, I reckon The National would be good at some slow builders:

Blind Guardian.

I'd actually want to see Nekrogoblikon make music for a game about goblins. That would be pretty awesome.

I loved the few songs from Tiamat that made it into Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines so it would be interesting if there was a game whose atmosphere called for more of their music.

the national wrote a track for portal 2, exile vilify it plays on the radios and is pretty good

I'd love to see more of their work in games.

I loved Jose Gonzales in Red dead redemption as well.

My dream would be Neil Young doing the soundtrack for a sequel to Red Dead, he worked on the soundtrack for Dead Man a Film y Jim Jarsmuch and the soundtrack for an early Bill Murray film called where the Buffallo roam so its not an impossible thought.

Jean-Michel Jarre would be my first choice. One of the godfathers of electronic music that has dabbled in everything from the extremely avant garde to near pop. His music as it exists already could easily fit into a huge variety of games, and if he were to actually collaborate on a game project it could be mindblowing.

Megadeth would be awesome doing a Sonic game. With the exception of vocals, of course... I like Dave Mustaine, it's just that his voice would be somewhat out of place in a Sonic game.
Now I want this. Sadly it probably won't happen.

OT: Mastodon could prolly do something nifty.

For a western game like "Red dead redemption" or the likes i could imagine no one better than Ennio Morricone.

Mr Matt Bellamy from Muse. I loved his worked on the World War Z soundtrack, and I would love to see what he could do with a game soundtrack, from crazy riff filled combat music to more contemplative background pieces, it would be a great medium for all styles of his work.

Rob Dougan has to be in this list. The guy has been around for years and his music is recognisable to anyone.

He's damn good and I'd love to hear his music on something akin to Mass Effect, or put his faster-paced tunes to something like a Wipeout game.
