I play the electric guitar (how original, I know...) and I have a mighty blast with it.

I have a Danelectro DC-59M with a Roland Micro Cube and an assortment of various pedals (wah, delay, flange, overdrive, fuzz (not shown)).

Really like the guitar, don't know all the effects, and the amp is decent, although an upgrade I see approaching in your future, should with the guitar you decide to stick.
It's inevitable.
You are the second person to tell me to get a ew amp. Maybe I should succumb to peer pressure and get one...

Well, I get paid a ton of overtime at the end of the month, maybe I'll look into it then.

Thanks brah :)

Out of curiosity, what do you play/use?
Oh boy, here we go:

Guitar:

Amps, also plural:

And last but not least the pedals:

I have played the guitar since I was 6 and electric guitar almost exclusively for app. 5 years now.
I am a decent player and a real gear head.
I have too much gear, but I really like all of my guitars and effects and I will never need a new amp ever again. That marshall is simply too good.
You're a hell of a lot more experienced than I am :) I started around March 2011 if I recall correctly so I haven't been playing for long though I can say with confidence that it's been one of the best things I've done in ages.

It's great fun to play and (believe it or not) helped me a lot with my confidence.
If it's confidence you want, get a "real" marshall (read: an honest to god tube-amp made by Marshall, not one of those puny MG rip-offs that should have no right to exist).
Simply seeing one of these every time you start practising will boost your confidence to levels unknown before.
There is something magical to them.

As tempted as I am by one of those I have neither the cash nor the skill to make use of them.

The confidence came from defying expectations. Everyone in my family thought I would fail as it wasn't "my kind of thing". I proved them ALL wrong.
Then I recommend this:
Doug Mark's Metal Method (http://www.metalmethod.com/basic-guitar-lessons.htm)
I used it myself and it's great fun, too.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it. Always good to improve my skills. I have a long way to go.

Though I get the definite feeling with the guitar (or any instrument) you can never reach "the end".
Yeah, reaching "the end" is never possible, since you can always improve your playing.
Have the fastest fingers in the world?
Try some blues.
One of your bendings can make an audience cry with joy?
can you play it faster?
You are a tapping-master extraordinaire?
Have a second neck and now do it again.

Nice man! That's a seriously nice sound you're getting on Morse Code, it's really good ^_^

How do you find the SansAmp? I've been contemplating getting one for a while now. They seem really cool, what do you make of it?

And your band is sounding seriously good O_O...I'm jealous..

Thanks man, it's the culmination of a lot of hard work, so thats nice to hear!

I initially got the Sans Amp about 5 years ago when I had to go and tour New Zealand and wanted a consistent bass sound from any desk at any venue, without lugging a massive amp around, and i've never looked back.

I originally had a pedal based one with 3 presets, but that broke (it was 2nd hand) so i bought a brand new one that is just the one stomp box.

I even use it recording, but i will usually record 3 channels at once, One through the sans (a bitey, dirty sound), then 2 mics on a bass cab (bass kick mic and a SM57 for low end and mid range cut, respectively) coz it has 3 outputs.

Such a versatile pedal, just brightens and gives your sound more punch, i even use it when sessioning for jazz singers.

Definitely worth a purchase.

Okay..Yeah, I guess there's no more excuses for me not to get it anymore..I'll get my wallet..

Out of curiosity, what strings does my fellow bassist prefer? I'm having a hard time finding ones that last long enough with a good overall tone and I'm loving the sound you're getting..I'm not made of money so I can't simply try every single make of strings evah (like I'm currently forced to do)

Well i've actually got a sponsorship from Ernie Ball (through their Australian distributor where I get them for cost price) so i mainly use those haha. But they're pretty hardy strings, and I will play 3-4 shows before I change them...the Sans Amp can boost your top end tone via its Presence knob when your strings get a little dull.

Lucky..

What make of Ernie Ball? I've only tried the Super Slinky variety, which, in the tone spectrum, were awesome, but they didn't quite seem to last very long with my aggressive playing style..It's quite a shame
