I bring freeware games to my school, and they circulate more and more until everyone is playing them. I sort of consider it my job. My last freeware game I introduced was N, a 500-level platformer with a level editor. Needless to say, N was a goldmine. It's been about five months, and I want to bring another extremely addictive game to the school. I don't want to move into casual games, due to their lack of motivation to keep playing. I found a guitar hero game for PC called Frets on Fire, which is very fun to hold a keyboard like a guitar and wail away, buy It won't work on the computers there. Multiplayer is not an option, unless played on the same computer

Please, if you have suggestions, make sure it fills at least some of this criteria.
- long, and makes you want to finish it.
- easy to learn controls, simple
- addicting! play levels over for the sake of it
- small file. carrying 200mb games back an forth are not an option.
- entertaining. it should be fun just watching, too.

I think my best bet is another platformer. Let me hear what you guys have!

I love N. I played the hell out of it my Sophomore year. I also downloaded FoF, though I found that most of the user-created songs are pretty lame-- especially all the attempts at fast songs, where they really just throw notes in random places in an attempt to make it "hard".

Hmm. I dunno if your friends enjoy MUD games, but Achaea (http://www.achaea.com/main.php) and Lusternia (http://www.lusternia.com/) are pretty fun. They're essentially browser-based text MMOs. Not fun watching, though. :p

Unreal Flash 2007 (http://www.mofunzone.com/online_games/unreal_flash_2007.shtml) is pretty fun, I suppose. The computers at my school lag like hell when playing it, but maybe yours will do better.

The Impossible Quiz (http://www.addictinggames.com/theimpossiblequiz.html) was a big hit at my school for a bit. It's really fun to play when you have a group of people gathered around the computer.

That's all I can really think of-- I'm not a big player of freeware games, but I thought I'd throw those in just in case you see anything you like.

Some really good ones that evryone got hooked on at my school were:

Little fighter 2 (http://littlefighter.com/)
Liero Extreme (http://lieroxtreme.thegaminguniverse.com)
Ninjah (http://www.evildrbin.com/ninjah/)
Mono (http://www.download.com/Mono/3640-2099_4-10379807.html?sb=2&v=0)

The impossible quiz was also a huge hit lol

Hope that helped

Line rider Is okay, but very boring sometimes. AoT is not addicting, and I didn't like Battle for Wesnoth.

The one, the only, the original and grandaddy of em all: Nethack

http://www.nethack.org/

Takes a bit of getting used to, but one you've got the interface all figured out Nethack is a treasure trove of simple fun. Nearly impossible to actually beat, but the fun is in seeing how far you can get with your characters and trying to beat yer high scores. Seriously, look it up, don't give up trying to learn how to play it. It's worth it!

Oh, and here: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106286

Enjoy!

Maybe one of you can help me with this, im looking for a freeware game a playd many years ago, i dont recall the name but the game was like this:
You played a chick who was a member of a police force some time in the future, basically the game has you flying around in some sort of hover vehicle thru a futuristic town shooting down bad guys, the view was top down, and u could upgrade ur vehicle as far as i recall.

Apart from that there was pretty good story involving the main character who was an ornery *****, and would basically curse out anyone who remotely got on her tit. The game had a setting for adult language and a setting that censored it (as if anyone would play that).

As the story progressed we realize her chip on her shoulder comes from the fact that her father (a former police officer) got framed dishonorably discharged and subsequently killed, but noone will believe it...
Anyway her fathers death obviously ties into the story we follow etc etc.

I played the game many years ago at a friends house and we had alot of fun, but now i cant even remember its name.

There are packs of songs that are ripped straight off of the Guitar Hero I & II discs. Exact replicas. It helps to learn the song on FoF before I go to a party, and play it.

The game you're thinking of is Traffic Department 2192 by Epic Megagames, which came out in 1994. I spent many hours on it at the time, too. It was in 3 parts - only the first was free, the other two you had to pay for, so you've probably only seen a third of the game. All three parts have been made freeware now - you can get it here: http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/344.
