Have you ever had a conversation like this:

Some person: "Dude, you haven't seen movie X?"
You: "No."
Some person: "Oh man, it's a classic. I can't believe you haven't seen it."
You: "Fuck off".

Of course, you have. So what movie does everyone rave about that you've never seen or at least not watched in its entirety?

I'll start things off by saying "Blue Brothers"--I've had scores of people tell me it's a classic, yet I've only ever watched bits and pieces of it while channel surfing. I just don't care for John Belushi much.

Are you crazy, Blues Brothers is AWESOME!!!
Also I haven't seen Alien and everyone is telling me how good it is, I doubt it though, since I hate horror movies with a burning passion.

"Eternal Sunshine.." or whatever the full title of that movie is. My friends go on about it every now and then, but I still don't care about it.

Same for Ironman, and many of the newer movies.

Iron Man. Actually make that every new comic book movie. Don't tell me how good they are. I don't care.

Alien (the first one) is a bit slow. A good watch, but my no means required viewing, and if you've seen any of the later ones, it's not anything new. Aliens (the second one; pluralized) is a much better movie, but it falls into the action category more than horror.

For the comic book movies, Batman is the only ones worth watching, and even then, only a few of them: the one titled simply Batman made in, what, 1980? was a good one, as well as the two newest ones, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Other than that, I haven't seen any good comic book hero movies, and thus am avoiding them now with the above exceptions.

Requiem for a Dream

I've read the synopsis, and heard the "Oh it's the greatest movie ever made" cries from everyone, I just really haven't had the urge to watch it.

I have a very long list of movies I've never seen that my friends call classics, including things like Pulp Fiction. I've also never seen Casablanca all the way through--I'm not sure I've seen more than five consecutive minutes of that film, to be honest.

My parents were strict about enforcing the movie ratings when I was a kid and we didn't have any money for that sort of thing anyway, so it's only in recent years that I've been able to get into movies at all.

Ditto. My buddy LOVES that movie, I hated what I saw.
I would also agree with the 'Blues Brothers' comment.

However, being the movie lover that I am, I often find myself on the other end of this spectrum: Demanding people see movies they haven't. Mostly I just yell at people for not seeing 'The Princess Bride'...such an awesome movie.

Don't bother. Requiem for a Dream isn't that good.

I have yet to sit through Citizen Kane. It's just so hopelessly boring. It'd work as a novel, but as a movie you just keep yelling at the screen "I get it! He's being a dick! Move on!"

Yeah, I feel that way about Citizen Kane too and it is nearly always on the top of the greatest movie lists. Also I know something about the ending (see spoiler below) that I think might ruin it for me.

I had one friend of mine try to convince me that "Meet The Spartans" was a good movie.

Nice try, but I'm not falling for that one...

Agrees wholeheartedly. As well as Iron Man, there's Dark Knight (aka Batman SIX), Fantastic 4 #2, Hulk 2, 300, Troy, Indiana Jones 4, Saw 3 and 4, Texas Chainsaw remake, Halloween remakes, Hills Have Eyes remakes and so on. I might add more later but you get the gist.

I don't support remakes and pointless sequels unlike SO MANY people that either go "for the sake of it" or go to "laugh at how bad it is".

Not the right reasons to go see a film so why bother? And why go on at me for not throwing my cash down the shitter?

Epic movie. That was shit.
Really now? Are your friends that retarded that they would think any of those movies were good?

Mine would be The Godfather movies. Never seen em, never will.

I was like you once...

I decided to sit down and watch both parts of it to find out what the fuss was all about. I found it to be a total of 6 hours of technically well made and well acted film, but ultimately pretty unentertaining. Most of the time it felt like a chore, and the number of characters, while necessary given the story, made it difficult to follow at times, and the second movie might as well have been 2 seperate 90 minute films.

You can do better things with 6 hours.
