Iron Man. Actually make that every new comic book movie. Don't tell me how good they are. I don't care.
Agrees wholeheartedly. As well as Iron Man, there's Dark Knight (aka Batman SIX), Fantastic 4 #2, Hulk 2, 300, Troy, Indiana Jones 4, Saw 3 and 4, Texas Chainsaw remake, Halloween remakes, Hills Have Eyes remakes and so on. I might add more later but you get the gist.

I don't support remakes and pointless sequels unlike SO MANY people that either go "for the sake of it" or go to "laugh at how bad it is".

Not the right reasons to go see a film so why bother? And why go on at me for not throwing my cash down the shitter?
The problem sounds like you get so many film recommendations that they don't mean jack anymore. You list around 12 movies there and as a movie buff i can tell you 2 are spectacular at least 2 are complete shit a couple are pretty good and the rest are mediocre. With all this pressure to see the latest big thing really good movies slip by because everybody is yapping about something.

and on a side note watch Dark Knight omfg seriously I'm not kidding.

edit : oh for the OP mine are The Crow and Donnie Darko I'll get around to watching them someday.

"Eternal Sunshine.." or whatever the full title of that movie is. My friends go on about it every now and then, but I still don't care about it.

Same for Ironman, and many of the newer movies.
Eternal Sunshine was bollocks let me assure you.

On topic: King Pin, it was on The 100 Greatest Comedy Movies and it got raves from everyone so I sat down to watch it with my mum, and we both agreed it was SHIT, nothing but sex jokes, an inspiration for stuff like Scary Movie.

No, read my post again dude. The problem is that everyone and their dog thinks it's okay to remake\sequel everything again and again and it's ridiculous. These studios are only interested in the franchise name and image, which means quick recognition, happy meals and action figures.

They never do the original source justice and I'm not going to support them. I love Dragonball\Z\GT and am I going to see the live action film? Am I fuck! There's NO NEED to make a live action film. And "meh" to all the other 'fans' that are going just to laugh at it. As long as you ***** about it online right? Yeah, that'll get your opinion across to the people counting the money you just forked out.

More people should grow a pair and stand up for something they believe in, rather than going to see everything that's advertised\hyped to hell, comic-book like and 'cool' you should say

"No. You're not getting another penny from me until you prove you're making the effort to entertain me and that you're not just suckling the nipples of something that's already proven to sell for X amount of years, you lazy, unimaginative turds."

That wasn't directed at you JimmyDanger, just the people that have adopted the silly attitude stated above.

EDIT: The Dark Knight would have put more people off if they'd actually called it Batman 6. funny how easily people forget these things due to something simple like a name change.

EDIT 2: For the record, I believe Marvel/DC etc. should just make 90 minute animated movies for the cinema, if anything. You know, keeping it close to being like the original medium.

Two things: one of my friends made me watch Date Movie. Dear Lord. The writers of those movies must be Steven Spielberg's kids or something.

Secondly, I really liked The Godfather I & II. They're long, but I think totally worth the amount of time you have to spend to get through them. Incidentally, I just watched The Conversation last night, which is the film Coppola made between the two Godfather films. It's awesome, and is almost the polar opposite of The Godfather. It's a tight film focusing on basically just one character (played to near perfection by Gene Hackman) and his obsession with figuring out the truth behind one of the conversations he taped. (You see, he's a surveillance guy.) Plus, Harrison Ford's in it, and it's pre-Star Wars so he's super young.

Movies like Citizen Kane cannot be properly appreciated by today's mediacentric culture without a little film education. Much of what makes the film notable is the way it pioneered certain camera techniques that are standard today (deep focus, dream sequences, etc.). These techniques, when fresh, were effective and shocking. Today, we take them for granted and only those who study film really keep score. So, I'm going to recommend Visions of Light for those who want to gain an appreciation for film. It's a documentary that dissects famous movies and the techniques that made them landmark films. Everything from the introduction of sound to the first widescreen movie (Lawrence of Arabia). This is truly a must-see movie.

i havent posted in awhile but what the hell i ll jump in on this...

Ive never seen the godfather ethier and i dont see the apeal of gangster movies( now im not sure if scareface and Amercain ganster fall into that genre both of wich are very good).

I havent more then 5 mins of any james bond movie ethier i find them boreing too.

I dont see what the big deal about the princess bride is, Im not saying its awful but its not the best thing ever may 4 out 5 but not the wonderful movie alot of ppl make it out to be

Also as far comic book movies go ive just about decieded the 2nd flim is usally the best as examples Spiderman 2 the dark knght( which is the 2nd from this team of folks) and Xmen 2 where deffenttly the best these franchises have offered.I think marvel has done something very good by now owning there own stuido i think it will help keep the movies closer to there source Like Iron man and the hulk did.

Most of these films are classics...except for those mentioned by HSIA...Titanic? A classic? Really?

I watched Requiem for a Dream today - an amazing, powerful film, so why there's a 'meh' reaction to that here I don't know.

But, OP, has it not occured to you that these films may actually be as good as this 'some person' claims?

Oh, I get it - is this all part of the IMDB craze in which it is cool to heavily criticise any film, regardless of content?

Some person: "Oh man, it's a classic. I can't believe you haven't seen it."
You: "Fuck off".

I agree. It's got to the point where I loan my copy of it out to my friends to make sure they watch it.

My friends are also retarded and continually tell me I have to see this movie, or that movie was so good. None of them seem to understand the concept of "I don't want to see a remake. I've already seen the movie, I own it, I'm not gonna pay to see it again."

And every time one of my friends tries to make me watch something, I make them watch something. Example, If you want me to watch Tropic Thunder with you, you have to watch Pan's Labyrinth.

I am not going to advise any of you guys to watch anything. But simply saying "fuck off," I don't get that. Why would you ever qualify a statment like "Never seen it" with "Never will?" I understand that people may not want to watch certain movies, but I guaranty that most of you would watch anything under the right circumstances. For instance, if a girl asked you to.
Personaly, I have not seen the new Indiana Jones movie. I know it is terrible, but I will probably see it eventually.
