dags90 informed me that it is a mutation called "crested duck"
I'm surprised a clear duck aficionado like yourself didn't already know about it, ducktapemax.

I also recommend this .gif as your avatar, because EVERY AVATAR NEEDS TO BE A .gif.
Ooh I want a duck gif! Do you know of any others, or is that the only one you've found?

I'd leave them alone, lest they seek out vengeance.

In reality, they're going to be harmless, just leave them alone. In Lincoln we have these strange turkey-swans. We just opt to ignore them mostly.
i'm not sure what you mean by "turkey-swans" but if you mean the Muscovy ducks, I wasn't talking about them.
...good lord the turkey-swans have a name. How has no-one ever known this, but a random guy on the internet knows it instantly by the description "turkey-swan"?

And I wasn't saying they were what you had, I had just assumed that what I had were some strange mutation too, and was saying our course of action here was just live and let live, and was saying there's no harm in you doing the same in your scenario
Yeah, they're a kind of duck native to Mexico that got shipped all over the US for their meat some time in the 19th century. Over time people stopped eating them (because seriously, who wants to eat something that looks like that?) but by that point enough had escaped into the wild to support a breeding population. They're also mean little buggers; give me mallard or wood ducks any day.

Oh, another fun fact about Muscovy ducks: one of the reasons they were so popular as food in the 19th century (aside from having, from what I've heard, excellent meat) was that some American rabbi did some creative interpreting of the bible, and decided that they were kosher. This was a very popular idea at one point among American Jews, but it never really took off anywhere else.
Yeah, but that doesn't really explain why they're over here in Lincoln, England. I've been all over the country, and I've only ever seen them in this 20 meter squared area of land.
England? Okay, that is weird. I thought you meant Lincoln, Nebraska.

There are a few reported various places in Europe, but it is considered a tropical bird so I would guess they don't spread because it's kinda vulnerable to the changes. It feeds on amphibians, reptiles, crustaceans, insects, and millipedes so I would guess the pond in question got a decent supply of those. As for why it might have spread there is a chance that someone tried to import them because their meat is quite good (tastes kinda like beef I've heard). They're also territorial and don't migrate.

I guess it would have to be insects, as I can't say I've seen any of the others.

And it most certainly does not migrate. When the lake froze over they didn't even budge, just sat on their patch of grass all winter.

Well, that was cleared up quickly. So, if this thread is still about ducks, who is the best duck?

Daffy easily, but not that version. The earlier version when he was insane, bounced around going woo hoo and used to torture people just for the hell of it.

I don't know who you'd call, but if that isn't caused by the crested duck gene, I wouldn't recommend swimming in the water...

If they appear to be in any kind of pain I'd say call some rescue centres near you, or a vets and have them look at it. To be honest, as someone who posted above said, if you call the people who maintain the park they may kill them or something. But if they are not in any pain just leave them be and feed them bread for looking awesome.
