About 150SEK for 3 new maps and 2 old ones? Yeah... I could buy a brand new game for that.

Uhh.. I don't see the problem.. although I haven't bought the maps..

Will you get 3 dollars worth of playtime out of each of the maps? If not the old ones, will you get 5 dollars of enjoyment out of the 3 new maps?

Think for a minute, about what in your day you spend 3 dollars on. a coffee at Starbucks is 5 dollars minimum. If that seems ridiculous to you, I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find something just as ridiculous in your checkbook..

If you really don't think you will get your money's worth, then don't get the maps, they're not worth it to you, but I think if you think logically about it, it's not that bad.

but what do I know.

Ubisoft: Don't let them play it
Valve: Don't make it
Activision: Make them pay double for it

You're missing the point somewhat. On the PC at least, maps used to be completely free and mostly made by the community or included by the developers along with patches. Now you're getting charged for them and not only that, they've (Infinity Ward) haven't released a map editor, which was included with the previous Modern Warfare, precisely because they want to sell you their own stuff and it's completely ridiculous.

Take a look here: http://store.steampowered.com/browse/under7

For the price of those maps you could buy any of those full games, or any game from GOG.com. Still think the DLC is good value? The only way this is going to stop is if people stop buying this crap, otherwise, look forward to way more of this.

I'm one of those spoiled PC folk who always had their map packs for free so I was just wondering how does the matchmaking system work when some people have the map packs and some don't?

Do people get kicked when a new map comes into rotation or do they just not get matched with map pack folk in the first place?
In case anyone hasn't answered this, yes you get kicked out, also they make the "newer" maps come up more so it gets irritating. I for one sold MW2 a long time ago, and can't wait for my free BC2 stuff.

I think of my money as having an inherent value that's proportional to it's amount, and I can rationalize things as having a monetary value.

Yes, it would be nice if you got everything for free, and I'm sure those games are wonderful, but 3 dollars buys me enjoyment. If I get 3 dollars worth of enjoyment out of an extra map, I can rationalize that. And 3 dollars is very cheap in today's marketplace.

You're welcome not to buy it, for economic reasons, or moral reasons.. I just don't personally see a problem with paying 3 dollars for 3 dollars worth of fun. If you play that map even 100 times, that's 3 cents per time, and odds are, you'll play it more then that in the long haul, so the value gets even better.

The starbucks coffee doesn't have that same value

But by all means, refuse to buy it, I'm not even supporting buying it, I'm more interested in the discussion surrounding it then the actual thing itself.

I would pay $15 just to play Overgrown again. Throw me another one of the great CoD4 maps (Crash) and 3 brand new maps, and I'll pay $15 without question. Maybe they'll finally remove that fucking hellhole 'Rust' from Team Deathmatch when these are released. I swear to God I hate that map with every fiber of my being.

This makes me happy that I've stopped buying games from Activision. I still can't believe people eat this shit up.

Price lower? Activision? You're joking, I don't think CoD4/WaW has had a real price drop. Or maybe that's just PC

And that, along with all the other shittyness of MW2, is why I traded in my copy. Glitches, mods, pathetic fan-support...I'm not touching that game again until it is around £10 second-hand. Even then I'll only do it to see if anything is fixed.

Corrr...for £10 I could buy a CASE of beer for me and my mates. I did like Overgrown a lot but really they should have remade Crossfire instead of Crash. Eh, I know I'll end up buying it anyway, curse you Infinity Ward.

Seriously guys, calm the fuck down..it'll be around £3 a map..I bought a drink and something to eat earlier for £3..did I think it was a waste of money? no. Will a map give me more enjoyment then a drink and some food? YES. It's not a big asking price.

If you like that game then you will buy it, and if you don't you won't. Either cough up the cash, or quit complaining. If an extra $15 -$20 is too much, then perhaps you shouldn't have bought a next gen. console. I really don't have a problem with paying an extra A$20 for the download. Keeping in mind that games here are about A$109 brand new and I got my MW2 for A$82, so realistically I'm still ahead 5 bucks if you look at it this way. For the price of the Map Pack you are not really going to be able to buy much else anyway.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I dont care about the old maps, i actully love the remade ones, Waste Land and China Town (both based on some COD1 maps) are my absolute favorite.

Yes, it is. It's 19 dollars Australian for 5 maps, that is unreasonable for something like this. I could buy a bunch of older games for that, or some special on steam, and get hours of gameplay. I don't like paying for something I'm not getting my moneys worth, most DLC's are 5-15 dollars and give you a lot more playtime.

I love EA.
That said a lot of the commentary is BF:BC2 love on that post.
A lot.
Like wang-mouth-ersizing levels.

I think it is cool, but also weird to see a growing embrace of EA, but Acti seems to be making it "too easy". I kept waiting to see what the trick is. Why would you be quoted as saying "I want to take the fun out of games." This is nihilism.
