The OP is a crock of shit. So far every MP match I've played has been quick to join, the maps load quickly (this is because I have a proper computer and you do not), and there is hardly ever lag since IW.net matches me with people from my general area and chooses a host who has a good connection.

Check your NAT status, if it says "Strict" then you need to toy with your router (opening ports, check Steam support for this) to get the lag to go away. People who have the best MP experience have "Open" NAT.

Obviously people haven't seen the piracy rates that the PC version of the orignal game has. The dedicated servers actually help push this as the pirates create their own servers for the pirated versions of the game to be played on. (Don't believe me? type 'skulptura Call of duty 4' into mininova and see yourself.)

IW are a business that needs to make money, with the amount of care that has gone into the actual game they should have the right to implement systems that will ensure that people are paying them for this quality.

Do you honestly think there wont by a way pirates can play multiplayer w/o IW.NET? if you do you haven't been on the PC very long. I mean if they can reverse engineer WoW servers how hard do you think REing IW.NET will be?

in other words everybody else is wrong because you dont have friends to play with who dont live down the street from you. I was playing the L4D2 demo last night and talked to 3 ppl who had it and said their accuracy was off. as in, ppl were taking more bullets to kill than they should. and they also said they got jutter/rubberbanding sometimes.

do the math. CoD4 used 6KBps per person upload just for location/action data. Voice chat adds another 8KBps on top of that when it's being used. An average upload in the U.S. is 75-100KBps (when it's not being throttled, ex. Comcast throttles to 50% speed when u use more than 70% ur rated speed for more than 15 mins). assume people are using voicechat; you're looking at a 3v3 game if you dont want to be losing packets.

Actually that's exactly what has happened, the game is essentially a port of the console versions.
Have you seen the pirating figures for CoD4? Why on earth would they waste all that money creating extras for something that has low sales figures and is pirated frequently; fact is it doesn't make good business sense.

The problem is, they are making extras. Creating a whole new matchmaking service for the PC takes more work than just setting up a dedicated server browser (and also prevents mods from working well). The leaning and 9vs9, ok, I can deal with having the same thing as consoles, since there's no reason for them to put work into making the PC version way better.

However, putting extra work into making it worse is just bizarre, and that's what they're doing.

actually, they have had to make it for PS3. Because PS3 doesn't provide matchmaking, IW had to build it for that anyway. They've had it since CoD4 on PS3. It's likely just a simple port. Activision offered them more money for development and they turned it down (probably because they get bigger bonuses the higher the profit margin on the game).

EA's bullshit DRM (install limits, etc.) was punishing legit customers. Changing the way the multiplayer architecture works is not punishing the customer.

there is blatant laaaaaaaaag, everywhere, it's just not kosher for a PC game. Like I've said in another thread, I've encountered(so far)enemies skating across the ground, I've fallen through the ground a number of times too, become stuck on geometry for no apparent reason and even got teleported all the way back to the other side of a map by lag. It's not a smooth experience by a long shot. What gets me is that if it's this laggy with not as many PC gamers on, then just imagine what kind of "experience" the console people are getting with at least 3 times the amount of players(don't quote me on that ¬_¬).

The multiplayer is just a bag of fail really. I know though that IW probably won't do anything about it though since we are the minority that will buy the game, they have the money from the console guys to keep them warm instead, which is a shame. If you've gotten used to gaming on dedicated servers then the multiplayer in this game is not for you, not by a long shot, IW need to sort themselves out. I hope people hack this game and make their own servers, it would be all that could save this game really.

That's exactly what I heard when i talked to ppl on Steam last night.

Console gamers just dont understand that PC gaming requires more bandwidth because movement is a lot faster & aiming is a lot more accuracy dependent.

Console games w/ P2P have larger hitboxes & movement interpolation (which it can guess because turning speed is limited by the analog sticks). It also has built-in auto-aim.

PC doesn't. So there is no sugar coating & the taste is much more pungent.

I honestly can't blame them for doing this. This way they will have to do much less work on the game as it is mostly a port of the console version. I guess they figured out that there would be enough people still buying it for the PC that they could actually make more money by not putting the extra time in the PC version for the smaller fan base of PC gamers. They are after all a company trying to make money; if they make more money this way, then there really isn't anything they are doing wrong.

I'm just a gamer, I don't put some prefix to it cause it's all gaming plan and simple. I don't fight console gamers or PC gamers, I can enjoy Halo 3 on the Xbox 360(yet I don't play anymore), or Team Fortress 2 on the PC. You guys fight each other over what, one can mod games, one doesn't have to worry about hardware updates after 3 years for graphics(I know it's more)? This whole PC vs. Console thing is just as bad as console gamers fighting over which console is better or is PC better then Mac or better then the linux kernel or some variation of it. Every time a game comes out on both PC and console PC owners always have some smart*** remark about console games, and now that you lost a dedicated server for one MW2 you act like it's the worst game of the year(While it would be a game that was never finished due for to many bugs or something). It just seems to me since you can't lord it over a console gamer it has to suck plain and simple.
