ok this has been on my mind since release and I can't find an answer, I'm the only male gamer in my class that doesn't own a copy of modern warfare 2 and I don't intend to because I just can't find any replay value in it. alot of people in my school are getting excited for black ops (even if they're underage)which will most likely replace MW2. So tell me, Why are people playing this? The only shooter that I own and currently play is Battlefield bad company 2, and even then that's only because I like the vehicle sections(please don't take that statement as hypocrisy)

Its because MW2 is easy to play. You can have downs syndrome and still get a nuke.
Battlefield Bad company 2 is too difficult for COD players even though it is the superior and far more enjoyable FPS.

It is just so... unreal and insane compared to the more down to earth Bad Company Battlefield 2 which I love
Still MW2 is considered to be popular and it just grabbed peoples attention in the gaming world. Therefore it became the default online FPS for friends to play together. Why it is played is obvious... it is why the XBox 360 still has people playing it: Modern Warfare 2 came before Battlefield Bad Company 2.
If the XBox 360 was released after the PS3 (and the PS3 was cheaper) then it would have such a smaller audience because it would not have been what everyone flocked to buy. (But I digress)
3rd party factors are involved in why it is the default... how good a game it is plays little part of it...

we enjoy playing fps's. especially with MW2 it's all online multiplayer anyway, there isn't that much first play value in the campaign, much less replay value.
