So glad I found your post and another person that enjoys the story as much as I do. Great explanation on everything.
WHOO! You just made my night! Finally, someone else who can pay attention XD

*internet high five*
I loved the Modern Warfare plots, I thought they were awesome, and don't forget to the rest of the world Russia attempted a nuclear strike on the US, that alone is enough to turn almost every NATO nation against them.

Ok, not bad my good sir, not bad at all. I'll admit I didn't play MW1, so I didn't know about the U.Nationalists.

But I still have a few problems. Again, the No Russian mission involved the massacre of Russian civilians. Did nobody above Shepard notice this? Did nobody realise that the moment this info got out, it would spark a war? I mean yes, it was a spec ops mission, but didn't, say, the president know? Didn't the minister of defence (Or what ever that title is?) know?

I'll admit that you've explained pretty much everything else, but I've got to call that one, I just can't envision the president being stupid enough to sign off on a mission like that... Unless Palin becomes president in 2012. Then I'd buy it...

Also, yes, the involvment of other countries has been... kinda confirmed:

Well I'll be damned, they are going for a World War 3 scenario. But I doubt Russia will be alone.

Now, to clear up that last point, and quite simply in fact- do you really think the president signs off on every operation (in fiction)? Do you really think that every operation the CIA does (in fiction) is sanctioned by someone higher up?

Or, you know, like you said, Palin may be the Prez.

Have to say, though, I'm really glad you didn't dismiss what I said. Most people do. Seriously, thanks for that, you actually just put me in a better mood.

You're worried about the plot in a Call of Duty game?

Let me reassure you: It will be that of a crappy summer blockbuster at best.

That made me laugh, thank you for that. But generally once undercover only their contact knows where they are and who they are, for their safety. Chances are (I don't remember exact what you are told during your briefing before that mission) that Shepard blew your cover and then the bad guy decided to have you shoot up the airport, which probably means it wasn't a sanctioned mission to begin with,

"Russia" did break the...what ever the anti-nuclear weapon treaty by attempting a nuclear strike against America, so it stands to reason that at least NATO would declare war against Russia. Also Russia is a very reasonable enemy, they still fancy themselves above everyone else, refusing to be apart of NATO stating that great nations like Russia don't join coalitions they form them. Russia has also refused to support several of the UN sanctions against other countries.

Not only did he give better reason for the higher-ups not knowing about the "No Russian" mission than I did, he also explained very well why more countries would be against Russia than for.

Kudos, dude.

Edit: So I don't get another warning I should also include that I felt that the MW series had a very entertaining and engaging plot

Look. It's Call of Duty Moder Warfare. The only "modern" warfare is that you are shooting up baddies which US and A never can settle differences with.

And as far as a MW title goes. It is probably not surpass the original.

--- EDIT ---

My statement stands untill the 3rd is out and convinces. All I say is that it has alot to live up to.

And I am getting bored of shooting russians. Can't we just... I dunno, at least PICK sides?

Not make one of them child eating monsters that hate the free flags apple pie.

And the other side a freedomloving childkissing worldsaving ugh... I mean the IRONY.

Honestly, it's not the plot i'm as worried about, but the unbalanced unfun mess of a multiplayer. The story wasn't exactly impressive, but it... sorta worked, once you thought about it alot.

In any event, I won't be getting MW3 unless it proves to be a better *game* than MW2 and Blops.

They would have given him a fake Russian name, it was Alexei Borodin, and taught him Russian, or at least taught him a Slavic accent

Well, alright, I admit defeat. You just filled every plot hole I thought was in MW2. Who knows, maybe MW3 might have a good story.

Just let me continue talking for a second about this:
I thought that MW2 could have been one of the best stories that a game has ever actually had, having deep, interesting themes and so on and so forth, but was only let down by major plot holes. Apparently not. It was actually a really damn good story.

Let me also say that I still don't think that MW2 was a good game. It's got sort of the exact same problem as I thought the plot did, everything's fantastic, but it's let down by one thing. In my case, it's let down by aim assist. I just can't get past it and it throws me out of the experience instantly. I'm one of the few people that hates aim assist. I know that some do like it, but I hate it.
But anywho, that's of topic.

Good job sirs, you have changed my mind.

Glad I could help, the thing that ruined it for me was getting banned from online
Also the only part of the plot that really confused me was that Peirce goes against Shepard's orders to launch the nuke (which Shepard didn't even know he was going to do), but it was this exact event that allowed Shepard to get his executive power over the war, although I assume that it just happened to work in his favor

I assume you mean Russian? He needed to use Alex because Shepard needed someone he could recruit to join tf141, not just a loner, also intelligence communities are very competitive, the CIA wouldn't have helped him if he asked. And it's actually not that hard to learn a foreign language given the proper resources. I know a girl who learn very passable Russian on her own, in a year

Hey, I enjoyed the plot to all the CoD games so far. Hell, ZeroMachine basically hit it on the head. His explanations were flawless. Hell, if you want to go even further, go to the CoD Wiki. They have a lot of good source material.

What I want is a continuation of 141's story. I want to know where they are going. Where is Nikolai taking them? I genuinely love the cast of MW series. Ghost, Soap, Price, Roach... ALL OF THEM. And this is basically from a generic shooter, which astounds me that I'm into the story so much.

.... *ehem*... No. You can't...

It only turns off the aim snap, so you don't snap on to an enemy when you ADS, but it still pushes and pulls your aim around when then enemy you are looking at moves.
