Are you really the originator of the first? cause I've seen that around in a bunch of different styles.
Oh, god no. I didn't do any of these; I barely have the artistic skill to draw a house, much less any of these.
I think the one with the BLEACH girls in bikinis is official art, actually.

And there was me, all ready to show off my new wallpaper thinking it was one of those "What's your desktop" threads. Ah well...

I don't know about women, but if I went into a guy's place with those wallpapers, I'd feel uncomfortable, to say the least.
Maybe one or two to set the record on your sexuality but... dude...
I mean, what is Witch Blade? Some kind of porno?

Holy Necromancy Batman! Its alive!

And yet the V2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.224282-My-Background-Rd-2#7597181] barely got any attention at all.

Well, and yes I'm 100% aware of the fact that this is utterly and irrevocably misogynistic but, Who the fuck cares what a woman thinks anyways? I mean really, 100% of the time it's going to be negative towards the man, just because you're a man. It's called misandry and it's way more prevalent than you could ever imagine. You undoubtedly experience it at least once a day, if you're a man. I know I do.

I think the first and last images in the OP are kinda creepy. They're the ones that really seem to objectify women. The rest, not so much.

I'd like to know people's thoughts on the appropriateness of the following as desktop backgrounds, and if/how they differ from the OP's:

Well, that didn't clear much up... thanks for saving me having to risk Googling it, anyway.

I would be considered as a guy over why you think it's necessary to have that many scantily clad women as backgrounds, but whatever.

It seems like each one was created to scare off single women better than the last one.
This. There is not much I can add to this, but I highly doubt any (straight) women would like these backgrounds, although some might tolerate them. Even as a straight male, I must say that they're a little over-proportioned, if you know what I mean.

The first three where fine but after that my first thought was "They must get cold." It looks a lot like hentai to me but don't change based on what anyone says. If you like them keep them. There's nothing wrong with having anime wallpapers.

The Halo 3 ODST one was a step in the right direction.
Scantily-clad Anime Girl Background = Repellent.

OP:When it really comes down to it, 90% of who sees your desktop is you. So it should be something you like, and if someone sees it and thinks less of you because of your interests, then you probably wouldn't get along with them very well anyway.

That said, in general sexuality is considered a private thing. People don't really care if you like wildly out of proportion tits or anime girls, just as long as you don't go flaunting it every where.

If you like anime, great show off your interest. But in general, most people regardless of gender get creeped out by overtly sexual things on display.

oktalist:On the same vein, none of those are inappropriate because they aren't overtly sexual. Nudity in and of itself isn't only about sex. In art it can also represent a primitive or simple state, openness, vulnerably, naivety, and a host of other things, sexuality being only one.

That disgusts me and it's quite vulgar.
Really? On the internet? This? I mean, compared to some of the fucked up shit this place has in the basement (That is, the internet, not the Escapist specifically) this looks like Whinnie the Freakin' Pooh.

*Right Click*
*Set as Background*
*Stare in awe for ten minutes*

Back to business; I'd suppose that one's desktop image reflects their own interests and such in at least some way. The question is: ARE you a breast-crazy hentai fiend? Because if you are, and you refrain from displaying your best material for all to see, you're sending people the wrong message.

I really hope everyone here has a sense of humor and realizes that I'm just poking fun. If you're proud to have a particular interest, be it artwork, video games, films, books, television, or music, all power to you. But if you feel your interests may conflict with somebody else's views, show restraint for their sake. There's no reason to be socially abrasive when you have a difference with someone. So remember folks, when grandma comes to visit, make sure to clear your browser history, and enjoy her company with a clean conscience!

Once again, I'm just joking around and if anyone takes the slightest offense, I apologize.

Photoshop e-peen on each anime girl and voila! Futanari! Guaranteed to scare off any guy or girl, or my name isn't Reginald T. Scrufflebottom!
