My computer keeps restarting whenever I play X-COM or Dishonored.

That sounds like hardware failure.
I'd wager it's your memory sticks or your graphics card.
Could also be a power distribution error.

Check temp, fix if above 70°C on stress test.
Run a mem test.
Check power supply.
Update BIOS.
Delete system32.
Profit.

Sorry but I was too lazy to read the thread, maybe it was fixed, maybe not, but this is the basic things run through when this kind of thing happens.

Edit: Aaaand reading through the thread I realize I'm just echoing other peoples advice.
Anyway, enjoy.

If your thermal paste on the processor is worn off, that could happen.

For the last couple of days I have been having both a problem with Dishonored and X-COM. If I plau them for more than an hour or so my computer will crash and reboot. A friend of mine has been helping me with the problem and there is no problem with my hard drives, graphics card, or processor.

I have an AMD FX 8150 8 core processor, AMD HD 7970 graphics card, I have a crosshair 5 motherboard so I know that my PC is more than capable of running them.

I don't seem to have a problem with any other games except for Dishonored and X-COM.

I would appreciate any help or advice. Has anyone else also been having this problem?
Its the AMD FX processor. Download OROCHI CEG and run it before the games. Works everytime

I have been using Orochi CEG and it seemed to be working well. I was ten minutes into Borderlands 2 when my computer randomly crashed and restarted again. I was playing Assassins Creed II before that though. Do I need to run it again after I get done playing a game?

It shouldnt, but Borderlands 2 crashed on me a few times randomly. If you think it'll help, try running it before every game, however the permafix is to flash the BIOS like one of the other guys said

This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but nobody ever checks this - have you got a loose or bad fuse in any of the plugs? My old PC kept shutting down for that reason.

This does not seem like a RAM or GPU or GPU RAM issue. In those cases you typically get a BSOD.

This seems very much like a power supply malfunction. The other option is probably the FX processor problem. If I were you I'd look into the FX first, then try to find out whether your power supply is malfunctioning (which is generally speaking more difficult to determine than the former).

Also, check your power cables (both external and internal).

Forgive me for necroing my old thread but I wanted to update some things.

Reinstalled my OS and that didn't help.

My PC randomly restarted again when I was playing ACIII and I immediately checked the event viewer and I found this.
