I like Alistair, Leliana and Wynne.

I'm slightly in love with Alistair, though. So I'm biased.

Just keep a Rouge handy, and maybe the dog (Mine is called Rasputin) so that you can occasionly get free stuff.

I haven't gotten all the allies yet, but people tend to use Wynne for her Group healer specialty.

Just use whatever, they level up regardless of whther or not you take them.

I use Wynne and Alistair pretty much constantly, though I tend to switch out Sten and Shale for the spare spot from time to time.

Well I have Alistair as my tank, myself as a dps rogue, Morrigan as my dps mage (amazing AoE spells) and finally Wynne as my healer

Get Shale,

rocks.
Shale was my favorite. But then I had to kill her. : /

My party was myself as an Arcane Warrior / Spirit Healer
Morrigan with a little healing.
Shale : / --> Zehvran : / --> Allistair
Oghren.

As you can see one party slot kept having to be changed due to, "unfortunate" repercussions of RPing my character.

MY mage playthrough was:
Alistair = Tank (Seriously, when levelled up properly, he'd be the last one alive in some scenarios, and take the big bad down all by his lonesome)
Wynne = healing (I left MY mage for AOE and damage)
Zev/Leliana = opening stuff, and luring enemies into ambushes

If I was in a truly hard fight, I'd lose the rogue and add in a second tank, usually Shale (because 'Hurl' is awesome).

Well you can only have 4 in your party, so I'm wondering how your doing this witchcraft.

EDIT: I would take Allistar, Sten, and the Dog, then switch out the Dog later on. (For Wynne or Oghren)
Is the dog all that useful? I mean is he good enough to counter the fact he has no "Here's what I think" dialog?

Myself: Melee DPS/off-tank
Alistar: Tank
Morrigan: Ranged DPS/AoE/off-healing
Wynne: Healer

Shame I lack a lockpicker.

10 Seconds after I met the dog (Gir here) he found me an awesome staff for Morrigan. Other than that, he's a great crowd controller and does some nice mDPS. Plus his in-the-camp 'dialogue' bits are pretty much the best of the whole game.

Not really. I mean you can use it for tanking. But you have many other choices.

I think its mostly for entertainment value.

Morrigan, Shale and Allistar.

Morrigan would heal/dps and Shale would tank and Allistar would dps but I gave him taunt aswell when Shale is below 50%
i agree. this party rapeddd for me, shale would pound em like a mountain while allistair is taking out the mini's with one hit and me and morrigan would be pounding them as a whole with frost attacks
