Hello everyone, thanks for clicking on the link to this thread.

I, as the title suggests, need some help. Help with part of my Drama GCSE exam.

I have been tasked with writing a script for the group I'm working in, and I'm trying; oh lord, am i trying. The problem is, I need to introduce a character; this character is an abusive alcoholic.

This may not seem like much of a problem. It isn't. My problem, is that the person who is supposed to be playing this character in our finished piece, has severe StageFright. 2 weeks ago, because of the pressure she felt under, she fainted on stage in front of more than 200 people.

I would like some suggestions from the kind Escapist community on how to introduce this character to our performance, without making her feel under pressure.

Thanks =-)

Note: This character is supposed to be an abusive, acloholic mother, and she is on stage with her son.

Acctully get her drunk. Gives her courage and she would be in character.
This may actually work.

Otherwise I would say have her rehearse and practice a lot onstage in front of your class with the crowd growing a little bit every time.

Rohypnol...no wait..

Seriously though: there are things called "calms" and whatnot that you can get from Boots or any high-street chemist, that (surprisingly) calm you down. No Chemicals, no prescription, just that homeopathy stuff - even if they don't actually work, the placebo effect might help her relax a little.

Other than that, just gotta stop her thinking about the audience being there at all; not being Sigmund Freud, I can't help you there.

1)Blindfold her
2)Push her around a bit and it'll make her dizzy (much like the effect of being drunk)
3)?????
4)Profit.
