No doubt there's still actually reasonable people out there, but I've seen much more people making me lose more faith in humanity than restoring it.

I don't know if this is on the topic of faith in humanity, but I'm probably going to be dead by the time mankind has had it's next major breakthrough in technology, other than entertainment.

Amazing. Someone was actually polite and nice? I don't believe it. Although, it didn't much 'restore' my faith in humanity. There's plenty of other assholes to balance this out, unfortunately.
Not really balancing it out, more of tipping the scales in favor of losing faith in humanity.

Oh, no faith in humanity? No faith in the amazing race that has made the most complex civilization yet on planet earth? The one with all the scientific breakthroughs, the one that's been to the moon, the one that gives a chance to both the weak and the strong?
No faith in humanity? Really?
Have you ever seen the news? Or heck, the daily thread about people mercilessly slaughtering each other on this very website? Yes, we as humans have accomplished a lot like space travel, etc. But as individuals, some of us are pretty damn screwed up. Which is why a thread like this is nice once in a while to remind everyone that there are some very decent people out there.

And about your last point? Give both the strong and weak a chance? Dont make me f*cking laugh - go tell those in 3rd world countires how they have as much a chance at life as those in 1st world countires and tell me how it goes.

I try to always be polite to service people, heck I try to be polite to everyone. I always say hello with a smile, thank you after paying and to have a good day when I leave. Service people take enough shit every day with bad customers and my mother raised me to be respectful to everyone.

The news should be left out when discussing faith in humanity. Only bad things get in the news, you'll rarely(if ever) see good things in the news.

As long as we're restoring faith in humanity, any cynics in the house might want to look over this...

I think my work is done here.

Well, I kinda had this type of thing go on, though it was slightly different. (Long story, but so awesome to be honest ^.^)

Sadly, I work at a McDonalds (really didn't wanna end up there, but I did). I had to clean the lobby area many times, and it was mostly a "Woot! Easy work day!" moment. I used to just look at any customer who didn't clean up their shit with the highest amount of hate for being so bloody irresponsible. But, as time went on (6 months later, present day), I'm so damn good at cleaning that place, a Secret Shopper came in, and the next day, the lobby got a 100% mark. My managers gave me the BIGGEST amount of praise you could ever expect, and one still reminds me "Hey, I know I never need to remind you to do anything when you clean here, but I need you to..."

That just makes me feel so happy, knowing that even though the irresponsible customers are plenty in a work day, I am now looked up at by my own managers. Best of all, just today, we got a new worker in. He's 16, I'm 18. My second to top-in-the-tree manager comes up to me, and actually says "He needs to learn how to do things around here for his orientation. Why don't you show him how to clean the lobby for your last hour of the day?" I EXPLODED inside with happiness and pride, cause I'm just a lowly worker who has spent only 6 months there, and already I'm being given the chance to teach someone how to do the job. And I'm not even a Manager! (Manager's and Crew Leaders are the ones normally given the job to teach people how to do things)

So, I'm looked up by the managers so much, and they see me as such a capable worker, that I'm actually teaching people how to work a position, and that just makes EVERYTHING so much better there ^.^ It makes me just smile with pride, happiness, and the knowing that I do my job well. And now, I don't think any customer can take that away from me now!

Idk if this was off topic, but my god, I'm just so happy, I need to share the story! :3

I love these types of threads. They always make me smile when the snooty customer gets the back-hand they so badly deserve.

I know I'm going off topic, but there was this other thread I read last summer (or fall, can't remember) that just made me so happy, I had to bookmark it.

You guys should give it a read. Tons of cool customer service stories in here.

Ah, I'm not planning on being there for too long XD I don't mind about not being promoted or anything. I'm content where I am. Again, cause I don't wanna stay there for too long haha XD And yeah, it's pretty stupid how irresponsible so many people are. Hell, we even have people at around age 40 or something that even let their own kids get away with it. It's bleh, but as my story said, it hardly bothers me too much these days, after that little Secret Shopper thing :3

this restored my faith in humanity but it was sadly short lived. because then i saw this.

You just saw that. That is the movie version of the Lorax being used to sell an SUV. A movie based on probably the most aggressively environmental awareness book ever written, is being used to sell a large gas guzzling SUV. With sky-motherf***ing-activ technology, whatever the f*** that is. Sorry guys. It was nice while it lasted.

Well just so you know, there are people out there who would every time and not only that but say please and thank you when they order, so if a giant ginger man ever does say "Hi Tipsy Giant"

I'ts always nice when people recognize your hard work, even when all you ever did wor them is "just your job", doesn't happen enough (and I know I am not good enough to do so either)
