I'll go with the top five because why not!

Loki (Thor). I mean come on duh.

Connor Kenway (Assassins Creed 3). I'm serious if he were real and even did so much as talk to me I would melt.

Jacob Taylor (Mass Effect). Everyone hates him and I don't even know why he is the nicest dude with the sickest abs and best smile. And he fills out that skin-tight suit like nobody's business.

Silver (Pokemon Gold/Silver/HG/SS). Like, I know he's just a tiny sprite but the amount of times during Heartgold where I wanted to give him a hug were absolutely too many.

Sebastian Vale (Dragon Age II). He may have been haphazardly throw in at the last second to make some quick cash, but that doesn't mean he can't have the most attractive voice in the whole game (after Isabela of course).

Captcha: "Red-handed", what are you trying to imply, captcha?

I haven't had a proper celebrity crush in a while, so I'm just going to name a few actors I've found attractive in the past few years:
James McAvoy (dat accent!)
Kurt Russell (his 80s/Carpenter looks are the best)
Misha Collins (Castiel wooh!)

I gotta say that I didn't really get the Loki thing for a long time... until I saw this video

Love those moves!

I seem to have a thing for older guys and father types. Something about rugged man who has been through a lot, but deep down has a heart of gold.

Two video game characters that come to mind that I had a big virtual crush on were John Marston from Red Dead Redemption and Joel from The Last of Us. I might also have a thing for beards too actually.

In terms of actors/characters in films.
- Stanley Tucci - Anytime, anywhere
- Daniel Craig - Didn't like him at first, watched him in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and now I love him
- Jon Hamm - He plays such a likable asshole in Mad Men
- Jude Law - Anytime, anywhere
- Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Anytime, anywhere...except maybe that Bicycle film
- Christoph Waltz - It was hard for me to see him as sexy in Inglorious Basterds, but Django is what made me put him on the list.
- Brad Pitt - Anytime, anywhere
- Cam Gigandet - Anytime, anywhere
- Josh Hartnet - Can't tell you how many times I've watched Lucky Number Slevin and The Faculty. Slevin gets bonus points for Tucci!
..There are so many, I could go on, but those are some of my favorites.

Okay one more.

And since everyone loves Loki, I might as well say who I think the sexiest person in the Avengers film is...yeah I'd pick Tom Hiddleston.

When it comes to the pretty side of things, I'll only go near full blown traps. Guys like Loki and similar are a real turn off because I feel they come off slimy and fake. Bruce Willis... maybe Matt Smith from Doctor Who do it for me. Also the old butler thing and classy older guys.

My tastes are a twisted due to the demented amount of... NSFW 2d stuff I tend to look at sometimes.

Straight male here but I have heard a great many female friends describe in extremely explicit detail the obscene amount of naughty things they'd enjoy doing to Jason Momoa. Mainly thanks to him playing Drogo.

Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston
Not that it really matters but a friend of mine did this for fun at her Uni. 3 of the 7 class asked were all for Chris exclusively with Tom having zero exclusive rooms BUT a higher % in the other 4. Chris won in total votes thanks to one of his exclusive classes being entirely female if memory serves.

Actually so far it's looking kind of one sided in the opposite direction.

I favour Tom Hiddleston. BUT! Not as Loki, I much prefer him as Henry V. Does that still count?
Yep I'll count that. To stay fair, I'll also count anything Chris Hemsworth was in that wasn't Thor.

I know that many guys will undoubtedly come post in this thread but I wanted to ask my fellow escapists that are into guys specifically - who are your most attractive and beloved male characters in movies, television, video games and current 'media'?

My pick?

Loki from Thor...

Thranduil....he's just so purty...

Sherlock from BBC Sherlock.

:D

Edit: I've got realized...all of these guys are light skinned and sassy/snarky.

Delightful. I've officially found my 'type'
It's like you know me!!! Seriously I could not agree more with all your picks! So yeah, I'll second all but Thranduil (he looks pretty yummy, though)

It's true what they say, sarcasm doesn't translate well into text. I thought I had made it pretty obvious with the token statement 'indie game you probably haven't heard of,' but I guess it wasn't enough.
Oh. Rereading your post, it actually is really, really obvious. I'm sarcasm-blind at the best of times, and the internet isn't the best of times. It is among the best of things, though. Damn, isn't the internet awesome?

Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston

I very much enjoyed Thor: The Dark World, and I suppose a lot of that might have been because it stared those two.
I also suspect Marvel knows this.

So anyone care to weigh in?

Edit:

Tom Hiddleston: 9
Chris Hemsworth: 2

Disclaimer: Numbers don't reflect people who don't frequent the Escapist, nor those who decided not to say.

---
OT: As for me, the two mentioned above and there's also Dean Winchester and Castiel.
Hmm... well, that's kind of a hard question, I think. I think both of them look ravishing (obviously) but Tom Hiddleston is the one who can ACTUALLY act well, so yeah, Tom Hiddleston it is.

Not normally straight in any way, but damned if Oded Fehr didn't push like ALL of my buttons in The Mummy.

Then he went and cut his hair, and now he doesn't do anything for me again.

Aside from the cast of Thor...

Colin O'Donoghue, aka Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time.

And, of course, Nathan Fillion. I'm shocked we haven't seen more pictures of Mal Reynolds in this thread.

I'm a straight dude, but I'm comfortable enough in my own sexuality to admit when a man is attractive.

For me, it's Klayton.

I have very little attachment to any characters in games, and much less so real people.
It's strange... I only seem to like characters that I have created, or things I can at least project a personality onto.

So yeah, I can think of nothing and nobody.
Hmmm, tell you what... I do like this fellow:

...a little bit... maybe.

Gregory Smith is my choice, or if we're going with characters, then Auron.

Tom Hiddleston, not Loki, Tom Hiddleston, let me put something out there I am attracted to women almost exclusively, I am a 0.2 on the Kinsey scale at best. And I think Tom Hiddleston is one of the most attractive humans on the planet, he's decent looking but he also seems like one of the sweetest people alive and an absolute delight to be around.

I would go for him in a second if he were to offer.

I guess I'll join the minority in preferring Chris Hemsworth.

Long hair, short hair, he's still hot to me.

I'm gonna try to list examples off the top of my head, otherwise I'll be here all night. :p

Idris Elba in anything.

Micheal Ealy in Almost Human. The show is meh but his face is worth it. Karl Urban being in the show doesn't hurt either.

John Cho (in anything)

Tom Mison(Sleepy Hollow

Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow)

Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn.

For a non live action list.

Kaldur(Aqualad in Young Justice)

Nightwing

Red Arrow

Grimmjow

Riken Yoshinokazura (Otome Yokai Zakuro)

Howl (Though it may be that Cristian Bale is his voice actor in the English dub)

So when you say female escapists, I take it you weren't talking to the gay female escapists. Well I think pretty much everyone has at least a small crush on Neil Patrick Harris. For reasons I can't explain I personally had a pretty big crush on Thane, from Mass Effect 2. I recognize that Nathan Drake is an attractive character and I would probably have a crush on him if I weren't a lesbian.

Oh and of course, although I supposed this is probably just assumed to be true of everyone here, I have a massive crush on Jim Sterling

I don't watch much in the way of tv or movies so I only have one choice from outside of the realm of video games.

Robert Downey Jr.
Troy Baker

What can I say? I like funny guys.

Regarding characters, however?

Jake Muller
Nathan Drake
Fenris (Definitely different from my usual preferences in men but I can't resist that voice)

I also find Noctis Lucis Caelum from the upcoming Final Fantasy XV to be ridiculously attractive but purely in the aesthetic sense right now since the game has yet to be released.
