So I'm looking to really sink my teeth into and MMO or an MMORPG. I feel kinda ashamed i've never played one so its time to break the ice, but my issue is I only have my two consoles (Xbox and Ps3) and a Mac. now the mac can run games great but I'm limited to what I can play.

My research online was over whelming with choices, but reviews really don't help me in this category. So from personal Opinion, where do you all Think I should begin?

You might want to check out Rift. Although I'm not sure if there is a Mac version, but I read somewhere you can use boot camp. I haven't played it but a friend told me it was awesome. It just recently came out so you will be among the well established crowd eventually instead of starting up WoW which is 7 years old I believe.

Your best bet would be to check out this site;

http://mmohuts.com/

That where I go if I'm looking for a new MMO to play, it's got lots of reviews, different genres and video previews if you wanna take a look.

As for actual games, I've recently started play a free to play MMO calledd Forsaken World, not too sure if it runs on a Mac though.

City of Heroes is going free-to-play soon and has full Mac support. The game isn't incredibly taxing and it has 5+ years of content behind and an optional premium membership. The community is great and extremely friendly and welcoming to newcomers.

Guild Wars. Probably get it for $20. Guild Wars 2 will be out later this year...possibly.
Maple Story, if you aren't too serious and don't care for a storyline. (Free to download and play)

Rift is good but there is a monthly subscription.

Or perhaps you could try a lil wine.

http://www.winehq.org/about/

Perhaps it would give you the connectivity your looking for. I was stunned to learn how Wine is usable in OS/X, which made me wonder for about a minute why more people dont use wine on MAC... then I answered my own question.

Anyway, Wine may well do what you need it to so your not entirely limited on your choices.

Here's my personal opinion from personal experiences:

The easiest to get into and the currently 'best', but unfortunately shortlived in the long run, World of Warcraft. Monthly Fee and expansions cost separate.

The most difficult to get into but after learning pure awesome, EVE Online. Monthly Fee, but ingame currency payable, all expansions free.

The middle-ground option with decent user-friendliness, a lot to do, and a fair bit of challenge and story, Guild Wars. No monthly fee, expansions cost separate.

Then there are the many, many free-to-play MMOs, which tend to suffer in the area of beginner-friendliness and ranging from grindfest to lame generic RPGs and so on and so on.
Black Prophecy is one which is fairly good if you enjoy space-shooters.

So if you're really new to MMOs and don't mind a monthly fee, I would recommend World of Warcraft, since it really has a reason for being so popular, being that it's easy to get into. Guild Wars is the second option, if only because of lacking a monthly fee, but also due to the heavier story-bound gameplay compared to the more free-roaming WoW.

Those are my opinions, be they helpful, I do not know, but hopefully it'll offer some options to look at.

I would suggest WoW. It's the biggest for a reason. It's fun and easy to play.

I enjoyed the fuck out of my time playing WoW. Admittedly, it's changed to the point where my nostalgic musings are just that, nostalgia. I won't be able to play the same game I did in highschool, and nor will anyone else. But that doesn't mean it's not still good.

It gets hate because so many people are pissed off with themselves or others in their lives because they or their loved ones spent too much time playing, this isn't WoW's fault, it's just the way MMO's are designed.

Anyway, I enjoyed WoW and I think it's worth a look. If you're into finance, economics, politics and all that shit (which I find dreary beyond belief in the real world, let alone in games) then try EVE. It's really good, if you're into it. If not it's like trying to convince someone that nailing their hand to a board of timber will be fun.

If you want a MMORPG, play WoW.
I used to play it, it is by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar the best MMORPG.
I tried ~every other MMORPG and they all suck. Maybe Guildwars doesn't completely suck, but I am pretty sure WoW is better (due to the fact that most people still play WoW. The laws of economics say it is obviously worse, because it is cheaper, yet people play WoW).
Rift was like WoW, but worse. Aion was worse. Warhammer sucked.

If you want to play for real, play WoW, it is worth the money. I had incredibly much fun with WoW when I still played it.

I really appreciate the Input man, it helps to talk to people who have played and aren't too negative about it. Thank you again!

There's a couple on the consoles you can try out. They are Pay to Play, though.

Xbox 360 has Phantasy Star Universe and Final Fantasy XI.

PS3 has DC Universe Online.

For the Mac, I think your only option is World of Warcraft, which I would urge you to stay away from.
