My friend thinks I'm stupid for choosing Arkham City over Battlefield 3

Arkham Asylum is one of my top 5 games of all time and I'm what some might call a fanboy for the series. So I'll hold my tongue, lest you know my greatest wrath.

Anyway, I think you oughta recommend your friend the BF3 Beta, THEN try and pick. I've played the beta myself and I seem to share the opinion of the majority of those who have: Battlefield 3 looks disappointing. Even a couple of my friends who happen to be HUGE fans of the series are crying silent tears.

There's not really much I can add or suggest without your friend giving any reasons for his judgement.
He did try the beta and he's still like "BEST GAME EVAR" I was very disappointed with the beta and even when I pointed out everything that's wrong with it he's just like "Well it'll still be better than Batman."

Tell him "Batman can kick any soldier's ass", and watch him raeg.

Then say that you'll get Battlefield 3 when they add in Joker Teeth. Watch him raeg some more.

At some point, the only thing worth doing is troll the hell out of the other guy.

You think that's bad, my mate says MW3 will be better than Batman:Arkham City...and he's never heard of Battlefield 3.
Well at least he likes saints row...

I've seen / had a quick hands on with Batman: AC. And I think I would like this one over MW3.

As the state of MW3 is right now, I wouldn't buy it immediately. Sure it's a good game and entertaining in the multiplayer, but I have just come off a MW2 multiplayer match or 25 and it just leaves me a bit empty. Somewhow I just prefer the single player type of games.

I guess everyone has their taste (and is entitled to them) . If someone tells you to get game x or y while you're secretly wanting game z, just tell em it's your money and your choice :p
And then get the game in the budget bin or wait for the price to drop after 2-3 months.

It's a general tactic for me when I'm not sure about games.

Whack on the side of the head... like batman would because Batman beats anything.

In all seriousness you need to make it clear what your stance on things are. Since he seems so ignorant you probably can't change his opinion anytime soon (Though it always annoys me when someone thinks Metal is nothing but screamo music) and if you can't, just tell him you have a right to your own personal opinion even if he disagrees.

My friends have similar and different opinions and when we disagree, we disagree (One of my friends hates Metal actually) But we have learned to move on and just accept that we don't agree on everything and should enjoy everything we do have in common.

THough in all seriousness the Arkham games are way more fun and have the voices actors from the Animated series. That trumps any war game other there.

And I think you stupid for choosing batman over Skyrim but what does it matter :p
Actally I am looking forward to batman if it is anything like the last game we are in for a fun time...
But you cannot tell if a game will be good until you actally play it so to you I say you are both wrong.
I surgest you buy batman and he buys battle field then you play batman and he battle field and then you 2 go play split screen co op and online. From what I have played battle feild co op is quite fun :)...but batman is batman and that is always cool...

Batman's better than any soldier in a video game simply because, "He's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now."

He thinks you're stupid for picking an awesome-looking action game over an over-rated overdone shooter? Who's the dumb one here?

I think you're stupid for adding to the mounting pile of threads of "My friend thinks I'm stupid for liking [blank] instead of [blank]" threads. He's clearly not a good friend if he's as bad as you make out. You can choose your friends you know.

OP:SLAP HIM. SLAP HIM HARD.

I played the beta for Battlefield 3. It was not anything special apart from some pretty nice graphics which I will never buy a game for. You die way too quickly and I saw no destruction physics. Also glitches everywhere but those should be fixed for the full game.
Still not getting it.

FPS games are samey shooters. The other genres are coming up with proper game innovation giving truly varied, massively entertaining and zany game play opportunities.

I pity your friend for missing out.

OT:Anyway. I have a friend who I used to go to school with and whenever we got into discussions would always stick with argument that while they made some logical sense they were always unfeasible or impossible.

Before that though a while back I had a friend who would storm off in a strop every time someone disagreed with him or didn't do what he wanted. He was my oldest friend but I hated him. He was an ignorant prick who treated me like dirt.
I'm glad I lost contact with him.

I tend to avoid ignorant people nowadays. They annoy me.

Well, Arkham Asylum was easily on of the best games I have played in a while. BF:BC was fun for multiplayer, but doesn't have near the depth of B:AA. From all I have heard of B:AC, it should be epic. BF3 should also be epic... but it is just another shooter.

In the end you are trying to compare apples and oranges. But those FPS oranges have been around for a while. There just isn't much new that an FPS can offer. B:AC is a completely different story. Bright shiny apples!

I loved the last Batman game, but I do feel that I will get more playtime and fun for my money in Battlefield 3

My cousin is like this. All he can talk about is MW3. He's like, 14 so I sat him down and tried to steer him to the good side of gaming but he just doesn't care. I rattled off titles like Skyrim, Saints Row III, RAGE, Arkham City, and the like, but all he talked about was his stupid china lake grenade launcher.

I played Arkham Asylum, and loved it. I played BF2, and found it awesome. However ones a FPS, and the others a 3rd person stealth fighter. You can't compare apples and bananas like that.

Personally, I prefer Arkham City, and could care less for MW3, BF3, or even upcoming Halo 4. (and I actually LIKE Halo), so, I approve your decision.
Sorry, I don't usually go all grammar nazi on people, but it's "I couldn'T care less". Saying I could care less means that you care somewhat on a range between caring slightly and caring a lot. Again, I apologise, it's just a bugbear of mine.

OT: Tell your friend to each their own. I've played the Arkham City beta, and it was pretty awesome. I enjoyed Asylum, but this seems a fair bit better. And Battlefield seems a good game too, I love the beta, and I have it preordered. That said, is Battlefield better than AC? Maybe, maybe not. Just depends on what you prefer playing.
*shakes* PLEASE! Tell me where you played the demo! Please! x.x;
