I'm currently sitting at 373 games unbeaten and/or unplayed (not counting my DS and Gamecube games), and 62 games that are beaten, but I haven't gotten to 100% completion in them. I have a long road ahead of me.

Threads like this really make me doubt my gamer cred...

Seriously, I think I'm less of a "gamer" or "game nerd" than I am someone who loves a good interactive media experience. I love video games, but only the ones that give me the feeling of interaction with its environment, progression in its story, and immersion into its universe.

As evidenced by the fact that I have no backlog of games. I have never bought a game that I haven't played. Well, I guess I did buy BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and still have only played it once to make sure it worked. But that's a fighting game best played with a friend, and I played the previous one so I have kinda played this one too, and the only reason I bought it was because I had a Gamestop gift card that was about to expire.

There are certainly games I don't own yet that I would like to play. God of War: Ascension is something I will likely buy eventually. But I wouldn't call it part of a backlog, because I have not purchased it and have no idea when I will. Really, I'm so picky about the games that I buy, that I sometimes worry about getting bored with the games I do have when there are no interesting releases coming for the next several months. BioShock: Infinite is the only new game I really care about in the last...long time. Since Borderlands 2.

Oh, my list goes back to the PS1 era. There's so many, I'll just pick the notables. This is not even counting most digitally downloaded games, games I've played before but want to replay, games I need to record on video for reviews, reviews I need to do, and so on. These I have never played or finished but own. And not even all of them

PS1:
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII

GCN:
Phantasy Star Online Ep 1+2 Plus (F*** yeah, but it'll take me three years lol)
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

PS2:
Persona 3 (which has got me hooked but is so long....)
Radiata Stories
Star Ocean Till the End of Time
Xenosaga series

GBA:
Zelda: Minish Cap

DS:
Apollo Justice (can't find a copy)
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Professor Layton series (just finished Curious Village, now I'm hooked)

Xbox 360:
Assassin's Creed 2 (hated AC1 a lot. AC2, which I heard was better, will determine if I continue with the series)
Beyond Good and Evil HD
Bioshock 2
Gears of War 1
Lost Odyssey (made it onto disc 3, but so long ago I gotta start over)
Mass Effect 3
Transformers War for Cybertron

PS3:
Battlefield 3
Borderlands 1
Metal Gear Solid 4
Resistance series
Uncharted series

Wii:
Metroid Trilogy
Sonic Colors
Tales of Symphonia 2 (I know it sucks, but I gotta know how much)
Xenoblade Chronicles

My people haha.

I have about 110 games on Steam, 50 games on console, and probably around 80 physical PC games to play through.

Major steam sales do not help, neither does me going back to create a new character in D3, or replay the campaigns in SC2

Still have to finish:

Fallout: New Vegas (I've got all the DLC and I left off somewhere in the middle of Lonesome Road)
Alpha Protocol (for the third time)
Mass Effect 3 (I need to play MP for a bit to build up galactic readiness)
The Walking Dead (I just finished episode 2)
XCOM:EU (I got ripped apart in the last terror mission, to the point where I don't know if that playthrough is even salvageable)
Supreme Commander 2 (got the demo, enjoyed the hell out of it, now I need to actually get the game)
Skyrim (main quest+assorted sidequests and campaign to kick the imperials out. I know I'll never get to everything.)
GTA4 (Dear lord. The story is excellent, but what a godsawful way to structure your missions. I do not like having to start a mission from the beginning every time I die.)

Ya know, I think what's sadder than our backlog list is the lame games we've beaten before epic games we've haven't even touched yet.

I've beaten Fortune Street (which actually turned out to be an awesome version of Monopoly), Amazing Island, Zoids Battle Legends, and several Harry Potter tie-in games long long before I've even touched Mass Effect 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, and the Chrono series

And the notion that you absolutely must play something is silly.
I don't know, usually the reason to buy a game is because you're expecting to play it. Maybe not all the time but more than enough to serve as a rule of thumb. I mean, if you didn't really expect you'd play the game, you could find much better uses of your money - even supporting the developer is easier done just by sending them a few bucks.

Dozen or so console games, and probably 100ish PC games that I haven't touched. More if you could games I've played <30 minutes of.

I have about 60 xbox360 games, around 40 games for my mac and 10 gameboy advance games, not to mention the access to around 20 PS3 and 30 wii games that i have. I basically started the Why Haven't I Played? and Experience review series as an excuse to play all of my games, but now I'm enjoying the game critic lifestyle so there you go. The backlog will grow as newer titles demand reviews, but I'm happy with my output so far.

About a hundred and thirty give or take unbeaten, mostly RPGs of one sort or another. How can I play constantly and not keep up?

Mine is also pretty huge.

I have innumerable Indie games sitting there, as well as Xcom, which I just got from buying Bioshock Infinite, Max Payne 3 (half finished), Metro 2033 (half finished), Witcher 2 (barely started), Fallout New Vegas (half finished), Torchlight 2 (played on and off since it first started), Crysis 1 and 2, Metal Gear Rising (half finished), Uncharted 3 (last level), Batman Arkham City DLC (never touched), Borderlands 2 DLC (only played Pirates Booty so far), and those are just the big offenders I can think of off the top of my head. There's TONS more.

I feel like I'm the equivalent of a girl who buys shoes whenever they're on sale. Except that Steam is my shoe store. So now I have this closet full of unused shoes. Er, games.

Not too bad actually. I've played all the games I physically own, but when it comes to my Steam library (thank you Steam sales) it gets noticeable. It's mostly because I'm waiting until I get my new PC, but a couple of titles such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution have yet to be touched.

I have a backlog of about 10 games and this has been bothering me immensely. But I guess that I'm not that bad, judging by the other responses in this thread o_O

It depends on how you classify backlog. If you just want the games I own that I intend to play, but haven't yet, then around 20. If we go with games I own, but haven't played about 50 (I get a lot of steam dev packs that include games I am not interested in). If we go with games that I intend to play, whether or not I own them, it has to be in the hundreds. Maybe 150 to 200, somewhere in there. I will never actually get to most of them though. Of the 20 games that I own and want to play, but haven't, I will probably play 15 of them, and finish 5 of them, meanwhile I will be continuing to add to that list as games I intend to play, but don't own yet, go on sale.
