Matchmaking is filled with people who don't play Halo in order to play Halo. It's populated by a large group of testosterone-influenced males who play in order to assert their dominance over other males with less EXP or a lower skill ranking. There are, of course, numerous exceptions, but it's hard to find a group of people that is collectively willing to fuck around with you, despite the precious experience that it will cost them.

I dislike metagaming in general, with an exception being made for achievements, because it is an institution apparently developed to destroy fun forever. PC games generally do things a lot better, with their practice of giving you a list of games that you might join, and then letting you play until you are bored.

The thing to bear in mind is that there are different kinds of fun - when I'm playing a deathmatch and someone starts arsing around it pisses me off; it doesnt matter who you're Teabagging, if your standing round dragging out a joke that wasnt funny the first million times you end up being an easy kill and wrecking things for the rest of your team- its not because I don't have a sense of humour, but because its the wrong place for it as it completely scews the result and renders the whole practice pointless - its like making fart noises halfway through a chessmatch and calling the other guy a dick when he fails to laugh; if you need it explaining to you, you just won't understand.

The first part has been done a million times. Its a good way to get across the map quickly when you want to assault. It was popular back when i used to play halo 3. The second one though... yeah, that will sure piss your team mates off.

Dude, that's appalling. You are the reason I don't play Halo.

Aww, come on. Don't tell me you've never dropped a concrete road barrier on a friend in forge?
Really, it depends on the mindset you're in. That's why I just play with a few friends, much easier to determine the mood between dicking around or actually having a proper fight (though it often ends up somewhere in between).

I would be one of those people who gets pissed off at you. Keep it out of the ranked games where people will likely kill you for it.

It might just be me, but the times I play Halo 3 and try to do something that's worth a couple laughs, everyone else hates me for it. Maybe that's why most Halo 3 Machinimas are humorous.
this kind of short post/not really conversational post and its topic are usually frowned upon by the mods, seeing as your new, they might cut you a little slack

People don't like it when you're running their srs bsns halo fun with dicking around or teabagging (for which you deserve to punched, no matter who it is).

Well judging by some of the reactions to your post I'm guessing that the Escapist is filled with those people who take it way to seriously. I mean teabagging your friends? what the hell is wrong with that? obviously if they/you have a problem with that then they are 1) not really your friends 2)retarded 3) 9 years old.

What the hell that doesn't even make sense.

There's a difference between 'dicking around with your friends in custom games' and 'dicking around in ranked games where people want to win and don't want some 15 year old dicksuck on their team teabagging their corpses'.

Jesus you sound like one of those kids who would run around small maps yelling into the microphone the whole game just to bother other team. Do XBL and a favor and smash your xbox.

There's no need to be so aggressive. Suggesting that I 'smash my xbox' is hardly helping this discussion. This of course raises the question as to why you're agreeing with me in such a hostile manner? I said that it depends on the people you're playing with as to how seriously you take the game. If a match ends up being silly and no-one minds then there's no problem, even if it started out seriously.

My Halo 3 Realization: Halo sucked past Halo 1, the multiplayer I find to be somewhat lackluster, and the campaign was sad in a kind of bad way, and I am hoping that ODST will be pretty good, I plan to play that!

But Reach...im not sure!

Unless everyone generally agrees that fucking around is okay, I wouldn't attempt it.

I remember on a Halo CE LAN game, I somehow got glitched so that I could not die. Instead of taking advantage of the situation, I ended up turning it into a session of making my character the immortal punching bag. You'd be amazed at what you could do with a Warthog, grenades, rocket launchers and immortality.

Some of us got really good to the point that you could angle your shot to make the warthog flip however you want. I would even rig my own 'hog with sticky grenades just for the added aerobics. Good times.

That was actually meant at the OP.
