It's been on the cards for a while with the introduction of those two new Pokemon, but now it's finally official, Pokemon White version and Pokemon Black Version. Other than the fact that Nintendo aren't waiting to release them for their new handheld and they are going to be DS titles there is nothing known about them as of yet.
I know a ton of people who are going to just turn their nose up at this announcement, but I am uncharacteristically optimistic about these new games. I'll admit that the games in the main series have been getting more and more outlandish as they have gone on. RSE (Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald) involved the Pokemon of the earth, the sea and the sky duking it out and Diamond and Pearl had time and space (not even including having a 'God' Pok'mon).
After what I felt has been a return to form with HeartGold and SoulSilver, I really hope that Nintendo stop trying to top themselves and instead of having the hero save the entire universe with few mutated woodland creatures. In my perfect world, Black and White versions will bring it back to the original format and tell a slightly less outlandish storyline, there was no abstract craziness in HeartGold and SoulSilver (taking into account this is a world where living fly traps can blast beams of sunlight from their innards) and that's why I enjoyed it.
Here is a vote for back to basics.
