i had a thought about the PS4 or Xbox 3602, and i thought there wasnt much to add to these consoles. they already have wifi support, online networks where you can play online and also download new games.

my thought (for sony atleast) as sony is one of the largest manufacturers of TVs and videogames consoles, why not encorportate the console in with the TV. it saves you having a serperate unit cluttering your room and it lowers production cost. we have smart TVs at the moment with harddrives so why not encorporate a massive harddrive into it and make all games purely downloadable again this lowers production costs and makes it easier for new developers to get into the console.

it just seems to be the logical next step to me, whats your thoughts on this?

Sir I would say streaming games would be the next step in that light. All you need is a smart TV,and an internet connection. It would be akin to netflix. They have it for PC at the moment and a AAA console game could be put into that light.
Or get a media PC for gaming link it up to your TV and use a 360 controller. It would shift the market back to PC's and have more functions than any console. Only problem with both of those is prices would shoot through the roof. The only good thing about the consoles is it keeps prices down. As a all platforms gamer in the US I could see prices as high as 100 for a ME game or a Mario game without the competition of all platforms.

youre point about the media PC is good but as i said earlier its still a seperate unit, if it was all encorporated into one machine would be so much easier and have less clutter and wires in you house

you raise a good point about game costs as without competition it would be a big problem, units would cost less to make if it was purely streamed or downloaded, the issue with high prices is that people will simply refuse to play and they wont sell as many units

The only problem with incorporation of a game system into a TV from a traditional console is that you get ease of use but say the tv gets old or broken that mean a new TV and console. And say now that it has this DVD blue ray player PS19, what is their to stop them from removing video slots, I have seen stuff for a wifi dvr and cable box so this is not so far fetched that you could have this happen. so my old stuff is just wasted.

Seems like it'll be a pain in the ass XD

the current trend for tvs are to get wider and thinner, having a console built in would need it to be thicker, heavier (Tvs are already pretty heavy especially those for the living room) and more expensive. And to add to that the TV would be even more cluttered at the back as you'll need holes for remotes/controllers(wireless still needs somewhere to charge thought you can buy a separate charger but $$$), memory cards and a whole load of other BS, and that's not even including all the other stuff you'll connect to a tv like a dvd.

The whole "download the game to your tv" Idea seems good on paper but then that'll mean you need either a permanent internet cable for your tv or a reliable wi-fi source. Also you'll never be able to get a hard copy of the game and some people just like that option :p
