What says that complexity is necessary for something to be good? Do you enjoy any classic video games? Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Space Invaders, Pong, Pinball? They're fun, they're simple, they're aimed at kids, and they're toys, but that doesn't stop people from appreciating them or mean that there's anything wrong with that.
Many classic video games are now dated and rubbish, so sadly you lost me with that point
You did not seriously just call Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Space Invaders, Pong, and Pinball "dated and rubbish", did you? >_>
Calling classic videogames shit on a geek culture based website where most of the fans hold at least one of those games dear to their hearts? Mr. Jimbo1212, I suggest you start running, the angry mob should be arriving shortly.
Now, now. Jimbo may be ignoring gaming history and disregarding the roots of the modern games he enjoys, but is that really any reason to gather an angry mob?

...Yes. Yes it is.

Yup, and they only entertain people with bucket loads of nostalgia rather then having good gameplay, storyline, technical marvels etc. Give me Shadow of the Colossus, MoH, and the X series any day.

NB. I had been on these forums way before they became how they are now; a time when logic beat down fans rather then the website catering towards weird fads.

Pardon me sir, but what the hell are you even doing on this website?
And what happened to complexity is king? SotC is a good game, but it's not complicated. Follow the light, find the monster, climb it, stab it in the obvious weak point, repeat.

Because sometimes this website still does good things.
And SotC may not be that complex (have to first find out how to kill the creature), but that aesthetics are stunning, it is utterly unique, and with the ending and the simple concept of boy vs colossus, it is brilliant. Now how do the game you mention match up to that seeing that non are unique any more, had better sequels etc?

You have not made a single "logical" point in this entire discussion, and I've been following it. Your argument has really just been the equivalent of someone yelling "True art is dark and gritty!"

We do not cater towards "weird fads." We post news that our community finds interesting - and more importantly, that we find interesting. Just because something has a younger target audience does not preclude it being of quality. The writing, acting, and animation is fantastic. Plus, do you *really* think little kids are going to get the references in 4-minute-long Sondheim parodies? Really?

There's a reason "All Ages" has that "All" in it, you know. If you opened your mind you might be a much happier person.

Your big on the idea of insulting people who have a wider area of interests than you, aren't ya? It has to be nostalgia, because people can't legitimately enjoy anything older than the Dreamcast, right? Of course, we'll have to include the Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox once the Wii U, PS4, and Xbox Next are out. Might want to try replaying some of those classic games...if nothing else, you should be able to appreciate the importance of the games that introduce popular mechanics or launched genres.

By the way, Shadow of the Colossus is a magnificent game, but its not complicated; its minimalistic.

tehpiemaker makes a valid point, and as such this will be our last correspondence Mr. Jimbo.
Though we may have clashed, I'd like you to remember that I will always love and tolerate the shit out of you.
Very well sir, you're a wolf.

Moving on, definitely maining Fluttershy. I'm hoping for a mod that adds fatalities, as they're unlikely to be in the regular game.

Twilight-teleport opponent into the air, they fall screaming and explode on the ground

Rainbow dash-soinc rainbooms into their face, tearing off their skin and pulling off head

Applejack-bucks apples into their eyes and mouth before shattering their skull with a kick

Rarity-whines, causing their mind to overload and their head to burst

Fluttershy-Stares them into stone then screams, shattering them

Pinkie Pie-creepy music plays, fade out, fade in, she's covered in blood and eating a cupcake

And by the way bluepotatosack, wonderful avatar you have there!

Just to draw a comparison, how many guys say Shrek is their all time favourite film over say Starship Troopers?
I don't think I know anybody who would claim either.

But I can say with all honesty that the characters in MLP:FiM have more depth than the ones found in Starship Troopers.

Hmm...I'm actually picturing her fatality a little differently.

Fluttershy: *stare*
Opponent: *kills-self*
Announcer: "...Hara-Kiri?"

Fluttershy probably won't be playable. A battle with her would consist entirely of a mob of enraged bronies breaking the 4th wall and kicking the crap out of whoever she's fighting. Seriously, no matter how they try to program it, that's what's gonna happen.

But Fluttershy can't turn people into stone with The Stare, just frighten em. And her 'yay' is unlikely to shatter anything besides Rainbow Dash's hope for a good cheer.

If Derpy's a character, this should totally be her finisher... She flies up into the sky, then the enemy gets a flower pot, an anvil, a piano, and a wagon dropped on them. Then it cuts up to this infamous scene.

Oh ho ho... You're just speaking nonsense! A zombie virus would be far too impractical!

The infection is spread through subliminal codes and images hidden in the colorful pictures. ^^ It's already too late.

It's a bit hard to judge from your post exactly how much you already know about it, so I'l just assume nothing to be on the safe side.

The latest iteration of the My Little Pony cartoon is entitled Friendship is Magic. The reason that it is suddenly everywhere is because it's actually good. It was created by Lauren Faust, previously known for her work on Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Faust set out to buck the trend that young girl's entertainment has of pandering to the lowest comment denominator, and if the legions of adult fans are anything to go by she certainly succeeded. The term for a fan of the show outside the target demographic is "brony" (yes that pun is exactly as bad as you think it is) and there are a lot of us. Many fansites have been created and there is a thriving community around the show. The blog Equestria Daily has over 13 million hits and the Escapist usergroup has over 700 members and is usually at the top of the Most Active list.

TvTropes

All the episodes are on Youtube. It's technically illegal but since Hasbro is mainly interested in the show as an advertisement for the toy line they don't really care. If you're interested in watching you should know that episodes 1 and 2 are a two part pilot and are generally considered to be of lower quality than the rest of the series.

Hm, I am surprised you missed the logic in my posts. I shall make it clearer.

As you get older, you can appreciate many new things, things which you can not appreciate as a kid, therefore these things are left out of kids shows and films such as mlp. These things are everything I have mentioned, deeper characters, complexity, intrigue, better/more appropriate humour, thus it does not need to be 'dark and gritty', and I never claimed that so where did you get that comment from? All these new elements are more emotionally involving and moving, creating a deeper and more entertaining experiences which is why adult shows are generally better then kids shows (I say 'generally' simply because some shows are still crap).

I have also said how age does not reduce quality, but simply that people should be looking to watch something else as it is aimed at children, not adults.
Being open minded has nothing to do with this topic. All it is about is maturity of content, thus maturity of the viewers. As I have said, I use to watch things like this many years ago, but have now grown out of it and I am onto better tv shows.

I always say nostalgia because no one can ever give a sound or logical reason as why some old game is better then its improved successors.
SotC is not that simple. The design shows this, and although short, it is clear that every inch was designed and crafted.
