Oh well, your loss.

(I assume I'm allowed to post a response this short and not get an infraction)

Better luck next time.

Meh, after watching those clips (and some other episodes) I still don't like, just doesn't appeal to me, and colourful ponies acting all sweet for some reason doesn't set off my "cute" meter.

Doesn't mean I think anyone who likes it should stop watching it, just stop shoving it in other people's faces.
...How was this shoved in anyone's face? It said 'My Little Pony' in the thread's title. If you didn't want to see MLP, why click on the thread? I don't understand...

Excuse me?

Does that mean you saw the semi cameo?
I must have still missed the adult humor part... Don't worry, I'll be okay.
'Adult humor' doesn't have to be a dirty joke.

Edit: Ninja'd.

You are correct. It does, however, involve humor of some sort!

EDIT: I mean seriously, you can't find a better clip to establish this?
Especially at 0:20 out.

Maaaaaan that was weird. The animators were probably laughing hysterically while making that sequence, too...

I never said this particular thread was shoving it in my face.

I was just referring to how I see it everywhere where it doesn't "belong", or how some fans really give off a "Haha look at me I love a show mainly aimed at little girls and you don't you mainstream conformist!".

Anyway, I don't care, just like I said in my post, I'm not telling anyone to stop watching it.

I for one don't shove it in anyone's face. I honestly don't know of anyone who really does, or know of any examples of someone doing it. It "being all over the place" does not count. And if someone means that, they can simply just deal with it. There will always be something popular that's everywhere that one doesn't like or particularly care for, or is tired of seeing everywhere.

Honestly I could care less about Skyrim topics. I wasn't eying Skyrim at day one for $60. To me that is far too much money to spend on such a game considering how much I got out of Oblivion. And how many other games I'm excited to play first, such as Skyward Sword, which takes my wallet-priority. And those topics are everywhere, but that doesn't mean it's being forced upon me. Or "shoved in my face".

I've been pressured to play a lot of video games, even threatened they would put me on the bad side of mods and get me banned if I didn't sing the praises of a game(God of War is one example this has happened to me, if I didn't like it, and wouldn't admit it was as awesome as they thought it was, they were sure to try to get me on the bad side with mods). But as far as My Little Pony, I never see this sort of "pressure" to like it that some people who don't like it claim that exists.

Furthermore, it's everywhere because people like it. People aren't shoving Nyancat in your face, it's just popular. That's why you see it everywhere. There's no "ill-intent" here. People tend to propagate and create fan-works related to things they like.

Any reason it doesn't belong in the off-topic section?

I don't understand this compulsion to find "adult humor" in children's cartoons. If you like MLP or Adventure Time or Regular Show, more power to you. But if you still feel the need to justify your hobby by pointing out stuff like this and saying "See? See? It isn't just for kids, this show is MATURE!", I gotta say, I feel bad for you.

I'd like to think that wasn't intended as fanservice (or else another complaint against bronies is suddenly justified).
The word "fanservice" doesn't necessarily have to mean sexual content, though it is most commonly used in that context. In this case the fanservice is just the references.

I don't know exactly why you're saying this. But I certainly hope that's not aimed at me.

Because that's sure far from what I'm doing and I've stated in the OP. I just like cute stuff.

Well, it's not aimed directly at you, no. You outright said in your opening post that you don't particularly care if cartoons feature adult humor or not.

But if that's true, I have to wonder why you feel there needs to be a rebuttal to the presumption that MLP doesn't contain adult references. If it doesn't matter to you, why entertain the argument at all?

You took that out of context, I was referring to other sites, or at least discussions here that have nothing to do with MLP, yet people still bring it up.

But like I said before, it doesn't matter, I mean no hatred towards you or other fans, only the annoying fans.

People find all sorts of things humorous. It's more of a "reference" than a "joke", though. A reference to an adult comedy.

I think that if you want humor that anyone can enjoy, the show is littered with it. For instance, Fluttershy's continued frustration at getting rejected by animals is comical because of the lengths at which she is going to and how it obviously comes off as creepy for obvious reasons of intrusiveness and a lot of the general aspects applied to the "creepy stalker". That if you try to hard to make someone like you who doesn't, and forcefully so, or even putting them into a compromising situation purposely, it only makes things worse. Furthermore, seeing someone so innocent typically, given those traits is a contrast which creates humor.

As a sort of simpler humor, Pinkie Pie often invoked the sort of "inappropriate hedonism" humor. When everyone else cares that everything is out of whack, Pinkie Pie can be seen lapping up chocolate milk.

I don't know what you consider adult, but I'm not going or caring for any definition with these. Just bonafide humor. In "Lesson Zero", an entire town fights over an ugly doll. The irony supposed to be being, that it's just an ugly doll, but people are going nuts. And the real added humor, is that after it's all over, Big Mac decided to take the doll because he was actually nuts over it somewhat to begin with.

I don't have to agree with the logic behind it to want to correct people. It's an interesting truth.

People are just argumentative. Instead of saying "marriage isn't a religious thing", they have to say "marriage isn't religious, but even if it was that doesn't mean that homosexuals shouldn't get married." and give multiple reasons why.

But we're on the same page, it would at least appear, that people care far too much about whether something has an "adult" aspect to it, like that's some sort of requirement. Though it's a bit unsettling that I can't really seem to bring it up without someone suspecting my motivations.

I'm on whatever side of the argument says good things about MLP. Whether it be on an entirely logical basis or not.

And any excuse to talk about the new episode and highlights from it is a good one. And this certainly seemed like a bursting thread opener. I totally worded this sentence when editing my post the first time. But the forum is having errors again and the text was lost.:/

What if I say that I don't like MLP just because I don't find it funny or entertaining, and not because it's "girly" or anything like that? Are you going to argue with meand say that I'm wrong?

For example, I think Invader Zim is a funny show, but I know people who think it's the most stupid show ever and not funny at all. I'm not going to argue with them because I can see where they're coming from.

I think we're all entitled to our own taste. I know that many video game and music elitists have told me otherwise, and that my taste is a "flaw", a bigoted flawed prejudice, and there is only liking good things and disliking bad things. I wish there were less people like that. I wish I didn't have to come across them all of the time when attempting to converse about music.

I don't know why you would suspect otherwise of me.

The first 2 episodes of season 2 with the references to Q from Star Trek.
Dr Whooves, although I'm not sure if that was intentional. I think some of the cast are Dr Who fans though.
The 'Star Wars' ending to the second episode.
I'm sure I heard something about one of Rainbow Dash's outfits being a nod to some superhero. Shall have to look that up and get back to you...
I think a lot of the writers are fairly geeky which is why I think it's so popular with people on here.

I remember watching this on TV and laughing at the cameos.

Of course, considering that The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginairy Friends (two shows that were made by much of the same crew as MLP:FIM) both had Big Lebowski references, having one on Friendship is Magic was inevitable.

I didn't say the Powerpuff Girls didn't have a Big Lebowski reference. I just wouldn't be surprised if Friendship is Magic has more references to "adult" pop culture by now, or is on it's way to having as many or more. It doesn't have as many episodes yet as the Powerpuff Girls, but it does have three seasons, and this show is looking chock full of references. I like both the Powerpuff Girls and My Little Pony greatly. And I don't think it's inferior to the Powerpuff Girls by any means.

Edit: Gah! Thank goodness I remembered to copy my post again before posting. I'm tired of losing posts to a 404 error!
