The My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom is such a mob. It's difficult to get enthusiastic about it (or indignant about its abuse) when everyone in it is doing basically the same thing, and you can't emerge as an individual. I dislike fandoms like that.

I have to agree, this is some creepy-ass Scientology shit right here. I mean, it was funny in the ironic sense. I myself once wrote a story about tooth fairies set in a gangland crime drama, where they shoot each other with Rainbow-Propelled Grenades and such. But this is going a bit over the top...

At what point does an interest cross from over-irony to authentic interest?

I guess this show has emerged as this generation's Powerpuff Girls, but even Powerpuff fans weren't this nuts. I guess it's the way the winds are changing.

Can you lot piss off to a forum of your own? I'm getting bored and pissed off with these repeat threads. You're like god damned missionaries for a religion and I'm getting seriously tired of it.

Please, fuck off or take it into a user group.
For the most part we do stay in our group. If you could see the amount of posting that goes on there you would likely stop complaining about what happens in the forums.
We have a right to use these forums as much as any other user does. The only threads started by us are legitimate questions involving the show or its following. As for the constant hate threads, we detest them as much as you do.

Considering the Escapist has just been nominated for a lifestyle award, shouldn't these forums be allowed to be used for lifestyle topics, which might I add, considering what OP and this thread is about, confirms that MLP FIM can be a lifestyle as much as anything else that appears in the off topic section.

What makes you so very very sure that any interest in this show was ironic to begin with? I know *I* didn't look it up in an attempt to provide myself with some irony bombs; I had a go because people were saying it was actually good.

It's not about just liking it. I'm saying, this degree of over-the-top cultlike worship is only acceptable (in my opinion) if it's done in ironic jest. Actual genuine cultlike worship at the pony alter is kind of insane.

I find the community incredible. Considering this is the internet we are talking about it's amazing that most of the time it remains so friendly and accepting.

The ponies bring out the best in everyone.

I cant say much for its earlier days though, as I have only been a fan for about a month.
Actually exactly a month today......yay
It is. I find the guy funny. This is the internet. No community is going to be free of division and flame wars. We do great, considering. He is making a mountain out of molehill.

I ask because not everyone who likes the show is someone like you who actually likes the show, but I know that it originated from a bunch of /co/mrades trolling a guy that wrote an article on Cartoon Brew, [http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic] so I'm not remiss in thinking that many people's interest in the show is disingenuous. It's like a new hippie movement to them.

You people aren't a damn culture...

I mean seriously hasn't this shit gone far enough?

There are plenty of series I like and don't devote some sort of creepy cult like attitude towards.

I have an idea for you guys.

For the ones of you who like actually like this show and aren't just in it for this ironic shits and giggles. Why don't you just watch the freaking series, keep your avatars as your PROUD AND BOLD MESSAGE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD and drop this retarded cult you have going?

It's getting really annoying.
Sigh..... I don't get it sometimes. WE try and TRY to be tolerant of people who hate the show but they're always one sided on everything. Have you even watched an episode? Have you been to any dedicated forums? Have you, for once in your life, looked at the garbage you write down?!

I'm gonna say no, because your arrogant. If you looked at our chat's, you'd see more than talking about the series. You'd see a group of people, with one thing in common, talk about anything and everything. From favourite youtube vids to worst meals, it's not always about ponies. Hell, one time two members talked about the undercurrent of communism in "The Lion King"

Let me axe you a question. You know how, in the first metroid game, they kept the fact that samus was female hidden to only those that were able to complete the game 100% in a small amount of time? Did that change people's perception as to how strong a character samus was? No, at least not until Other M.

The same apply's to us. Just because we like a kid's show for girl's, it doesn't make us different. We're all human; different colours, different jobs; different sexual preference, but still all the same! Sure, some are more obsessive than others, but its the same love none the less.

The Beatles once said "All you need is love"

And us, we've found our love.

You're all going to be so devastated when the show is cancelled after three seasons.
Apart from the three seasons of show we'll have anyway. Firefly never even got one.

I prefer 'Everybody needs somebody' by the Blues Brothers, but your point still stands.

...You have NO idea how hard it was to resist the temptation to ponify the above sentence.

Considering the message of acceptance and love you guys seem to be proselytising I find it quite ironic that I've been reported. Especially since I offered no insult; is being likened to a missionary really worthy of a probation? Especially when you're behaving as such?

As for my tone, it adequately expressed my feelings on the matter. I wasn't directly insulting or rude though, fuck off is a synonym for go away expressed with less patience. It makes no individual insult. Pleasantly asking you guys to go away is also not different from doing so in the manner I did; one is just honest. You're going to get my opinion, would you prefer it be honest and rude or pleasant and manipulative? Edit: I even said please for fuck's sake. 25 off of Morpheus too, I hope you're happy.

Anyway, considering the topics you guys seems to want to debate you should be in R&P and not Off-topic. Topics and opinions informed by an organised message go there, individual's ones go here.

Short answer no.

Long answer, does it behoof you to actually read some of the posts in this or indeed other threads before asking?

It's a little of both. There's partly the goofy shock appeal in telling people "I'm a man in his 20s that likes My Little Pony! Welcome to The Herd and all that!", and partly just, y'know, the show being adorable and funny and well-animated (and a far-and-away improvement over its old iteration). It's puzzling, really.
