I thought the show was good so I wanted to get my little sister the dvd of the first season for her birtherday, but it dosn't seem like the dvd's out yet and I doubt it will come out by Oct 1st, so what's a good way to get her the first season in present form?

She dosn't really know about the show yet and I want to keep it like that so the show's awsomeness is a surprise :D

the whole season's on sale on iTunes?

You could get her that 2-episode DVD with the toys, I have no idea how old your sister is but if she's young she might enjoy the toys and you can introduce her to the show with a little taste. I suppose iTunes would work if it's on there. Don't know when the full season DVD is coming out (But, the producers of the show have said one's coming), Shout Factory has handled plenty of Hasbro shows lately including the new Transformers: Prime, so I'm guessing they'll do a set.

Well, I would have mentioned YouTube, but I didn't know how the mods would think of that.

For your sister. Sure. :p
I believe the only way to obtain the whole series until the DVD/Bluray is released is to buy it from iTunes.
Maybe you could get an 8Gb thumb drive engraved with a picture of Rainbow Dash, or Celestia's cutie mark, or something cool like that, and put all the episodes on it for her? Assuming you have a TV with USB ports that can playback from this.

never heard of the 2 episode dvd before, she's 14 so she might like the toy if she likes the show

Being that it is a quality show it just seems like an appropriate gift for a 14 y/o girl.. aaaaaand I could watch it with when I got nothing to do :)

Cute idea with the USB drive, I just checked and the whole season is on iTunes.. for 30 bucks, 20 more for HD @.@

is HD worth it?

Heh, yeah I know, I was teasing.

Ehh... I'd probably go for the HD just because I prefer it, but it's personal preference really. If you do, make sure you'll be able to fit them all on the USB drive! HD video really adds up. Also, don't forget you'd already be paying for the drive and the engraving, so it also depends how much you're willing to spend. If you can afford it, I'd say sure, go for HD.

My sister thinks she's too grown-up to watch something like this. And yet I'm two years older than her. So I watch it with my niece and nephew, at least they'll enjoy it with me!

lol, I don't know how my sister would react, she isn't that into pink cutsie things; I know I was initially turned off by how girly and childish it was, but the show has some good humor and story telling so the gift may be an unexpected homerun.

For now I think I'll go for HD, but use some blank DVDs I have laying around. If she ends up a big fan, the engraved USB could be great in the future. I never even knew they engraved those o_O
