A lesson I had to learn the hard way was not to throw the word "troll" around casually. In most cases Hanlon's Razor applies. If they're not trying to troll you'll just make them mad, and if they really are a troll then telling them so won't do any good.

Hahaha good point. I'll have to remember that. I wasn't planning on responding to him after that anyways...I just...couldn't resist.

WHY IS NO-ONE HIRING >:U
Cause its Christmas :( Plus, if you are in the States, that 9.5% unemployment rate has pushed a lot of qualified people out into the job market... The best bet is to try around semester change (if you are in the states) or during summer. That's when jobs seem to open up were I live at.

Eh, I fail to see how people could like the show purely for it's writing, animation or entertainment value. I think that people just use it as a way to detach themselves from the "mainstream society" and just want to show that they do what they want to, no matter what someone thinks.

Mainstream or not, I still like and watch the show.

Define "Mainstream." It wasn't exactly edgy or pushing any envelope to begin with, so i fail to see why you're surprised to see it pop up at a Hot Topic.

further implying that MLP was ever "underground"

No, Hot Topic just realized that people will buy pony shirts. That's all.

I can wear these shirts without judgement because I'm female

Makes up for not being able to read batman comics on the train to work without getting funny looks.

I'm pretty sure MLP has been 'mainstream' since the 80's...just saying.

Hold an - an MLP thread with no hate in it? What's going on?

In regards to the topic at hand:

Yes, I suppose the show is getting mainstream (as mainstream as it can get). Personally, I don't care. I just watch the show and I think some of the fan-art is awesome/cute, that's it. Let the media talk about it, let the clothing lines make shirts and hoodies - all I want is to watch the show.

There's been some hate, but yeah it's surprisingly quiet today. Not that I'm complaining.

Tbh, if I saw an adult male wearing one of these I would instantly begin to think low of him. They might be a great guy but the whole thought of a grown male wearing a shirt aimed at young girls is kind of repulsive :| Just my 2 cents let's not get to lynching me aye
Tbh, if I saw someone judge a guy for his choice to display his support for a show enjoyed by both adults and children, I would instantly begin to think low of them. They might be a great guy, but the whole thought of someone judging someone over their choice of TV shows rather than the content of their character is kind of repulsive :/ just my 2 cents, let's love and tolerate the shit out of each other

...i would think those 3 qualities would be plenty for someone to like a show...

And where i agree a part of it is for escapism (hell what isn't today lol) i doubt people are watching/enjoying the show to stand out from the crowd, in fact the contrary could be suggested since a amount of bronies do things to help perpetuate and expand the fandom.

for me personally, I'm delighted for more and more people to become interested in the show, i hardly want this to myself lol.

It's weird that they make these shirts in adult male sizes then, since they are aimed at little girls...one would think they would make them in small sizes.

By your logic I shouldn't be allowed to wear my Flash converse trainers because clearly comic books are for little boys and I should stop being such a repulsive young lady.

I know right? I'v long since tossed away the idea of judging people based on appearances. You get so many people who wear and display some of the most unusual/weird/flamboyant things (everything from clothing, to piercings, to hairstyles), and yet still turn out to be interesting, hilarious, and overall just good people.

Soooooo not cool! The Hot Topic in my mall doesn't have any MLP shirts! Not fair! Although I did get a sky blue one with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on the side. Vgcats for the win.

I always thought MLP was mainstream. It's not an underground cult classic or anything.

Haha my only worry about worrying a MLP shirt is that I might be mistakenly put into the category of people who drive white vans and give free candy to kiddies.
I've never understood this. Why would one's taste in television shows make one a pedophile?
why would someone who gives kids free candy automatically be a pedophile?
I do, however, agree that way too many people think bronies are a bunch of pedophiles.

OT: I do not own an MLP shirt, however if I had the funding and wasn't attending a school where you get jeered at for wearing a rainbow colored sweater, or even for wearing your socks a slight bit too high (fuck's sake... some people) I would probably already have purchased one

I would have to agree that MLP was never really 'underground' in the first place. Sure, bronies are obviously an unexpected following, but let's face it, I bet most people would know roughly what you meant if you asked them about My Little Pony (it seems like most people in their late teens/20s recognise the MLP theme, even if they'd never had anything to do with the franchise).

I don't have a MLP shirt (some of the ones posted on this thread look good, but... I'm not sure if I'd be confident enough to go out in public wearing it) and the only person I've ever seen wearing an MLP shirt was a girl with a G1 shirt (so I'm guessing she's a long-time fan, rather than a fan of FiM).

That doesn't mean I'm against the idea of owning some (fan made) MLP merch, though;
