Hello again! Haven't seen you since Omega Generation. :p
Got room for another?

Name: Arieal
Appearance: A 20-ish-year-old female Griffon with black feathers and white marks around her yellow eyes; head-and-shoulders taller than most ponies.
From: Arcadia City, Arcadia. Still there.
Occupation: Shadowbolt Sargent.
Personality: Friendly, if headstrong and stubborn, which served her well in the Shadowbolts. There's nothing she loves more than curb-stomping anything that tries to take her down.
Bio: Being a griffon, Arieal's been flying her entire life, and even had prospects of joining the Wonderbolts at one point, until she realized how good she was at aerial combat and dogfighting instead of just putting on a show, but the Royal Sisters wouldn't let her into their army. They said it was because she was too brash, but she knew better (That was actually the reason, for the record; Arieal's just stubborn). Right away, she joined up with Princess Magica in the Shadowbolts, figuring her plumage fit better with their aesthetic anyway.

She quickly rose in rank until she hit a glass ceiling at Sargent. She was fine with it, though, she didn't want no stinkin' desk job.

I think I can guess Magica's true identity, but I don't want to ruin it. :p

A quick question, I was in a pony r/p here on the Escapist a while back, is it cool if I use my old character and use some of the stuff that happened there? It won't be anything big, it will just be that he has met most of the mane six before the war and that if he ever meet any of them it might be acknowledged.
Sure, I'd like to see what you have in mind, though whether or not that other RP fill fit in remains to be seen. Should I read through that one first?
I don't think that's necessary, it's mainly that my character grew pretty close with Applejack and Big Macintosh, plus met with the rest of the mane six and would most likely remember them if he met them again. If they remember him is a trickier question, it was after all over 10 years ago, probably closer to 15-18.

Soooo I'm looking into maybe throwing my hat into your rp. It's been a few good years since I seriously did one though and I probably really won't be able to join till tomorrow as I'll be at work all day today. I'll work on making up a new character in the meanwhile though and I'll lurk around a little to see what's going on.

Just posting here to mention I'd be interested in joining up as well. I don't have a character nailed down yet, but I'm working on one at the moment and should have it done soon enough. ^-^

I'd be interested to join as well, though I'm not entirely certain about how often I'd be able to post and I've got a character in mind but I'm not sure how he'd work within this setting. Guess I'll draw up a character sheet and see what you think.

Name: Aurora Force

Appearance: A teenage unicorn with grey fur, a black mane, and dark red eyes. He's incredibly then and looks slightly sickly. He always wears a black hooded clock with an emblem of an eclipse on it. His cutie mark is the alchemic symbol for Pluto.

From: Trottingham, Equestria.

Occupation: Former Night Trooper

Personality: Aurora is extremely smug to every pony around him. He is confident in his abilities, often thinking himself to be superior to anyone. Despite this, he always seems to have a cheery disposition and enjoys a good laugh. Though it's mostly at other people's expense.

Bio: Aurora was born in Trottingham 6 years before the war. He grew up in a home with a single father and his cousin Virgo. He spent his youth studying magic, eventually gaining his cutie mark after becoming proficient at ice spells.

After the war broke out, Aurora's father started going away on extended business trips. After coming back from one such trip, Aurora's father was killed by an intruder. It was surmised to be a regular home invasion, but the culprit was never caught. The event instilled a sense of justice in Aurora, and he signed up to join the night tropes years later. However, months after becoming a cadet, Aurora came home to a seal envelope sitting on his desk. Opening it revealed a letter with a cryptic clue.

The truth rests below the moon

Aurora searched through his father's old office and found a secret compartment in the floor under a painting of Luna. In it were troop movements from the Equestrian army, and bits smelted with the Arcadian seal. Upon learning of his father's former dealings, Aurora defected to the Republic of Arcadia, and is wondering trying to find a new home.

Are all spots closed, or can I enter my pony here...?

Also, random question, but what about rather... evil, or grimdark ponies? Yay or nay? The less, the better?
Well, I'm still looking for sheets, go ahead and post.

Also, the RP may take a few... dark turns. Players... hm, tough call. What ideas do you have?
Just that I have two ponies already made, even though I can make a new one for this. One is rather too innocent, while the other essentially... well... lets just say shes A) Direct and unelegant, and B) She... has a thing for scarlet. If you are catching my drift from both. She also is... uh... interested in um.... cuddling close.

She also has a not-so-nice background and an unusual... spell mastery.

I hope you realize this is all the pg13 way of me explaining my character. Shes complex though, not all evil or so.

EDIT: also, so sorry for takig your time, but will there be a possibility of making new characters later on? I used to be confortable controlling 5 chars last RP, hehe... :x

Alrighty, I think I can take a stab at coming up with an OC. Mind you, I've never really delved into this before and it's been a bloody long time since I've tried out an RP so feel free to critique and fix up as you'd like.

Name: Slick

Appearance: A fairly young earth pony with a lightweight build. His body is a lovely blue with his long mane and tail a deep green tint to it. He never leaves home without a scarf his mother knitted for him when he was younger, it's a little long and the bright red can make him stick out in a crowd but he still loves it and it makes a great pillow on some of his longer trips. When on the job, he also carries around a small back pack filled with notes, maps, and various sketches. His mark is a standard four point map compass but a large scar from an old wound cuts right through it.

From: Outskirts of Ponyville, Equestria

Occupation: Cartographer and field researcher.

Personality: A kindhearted friend and adventurous soul, he's always trying to discover new and interesting things to share with the world. His tenacity has caused him a little bit of trouble over the years, his curiosity leading to some of the less friendly creatures of the forest, but from these situations he's learned to think and act quickly when needed and has gained a good number of survival skills for living in the forest.

Bio: Having always lived close to the forest edge, Slick was always fascinated with the unknown. Even as a filly, he'd sneak out and venture a little ways in to see just what kind of secrets could be hiding out there. This lead him to some pretty grim situations once in a while, but as the years went by he learned how to handle himself better and better and prepare for everything that could be thrown his way. He even managed to make a small living out of it by selling sketches and maps he'd created during his trips to the Ponyville library, hoping to spread every bit of knowledge he could. He didn't care for politics or any of the war talk, so when he stumbled upon the mysterious new town hidden deep within the forest he couldn't help but snoop around, maybe even make some new friends out there. But, after finding out he was Equestrian, he was quickly chased out. As he ran back home though, he couldn't help but smile to himself. The idea of a new mystery town to explore sparked his interest and he couldn't wait to figure out what went on in there.

Yeah... I'm not doing the "human turned pony" angle, though if you retool the sheet a bit, maybe I'll let you in...
Alright, fair enough. I was going that angle because I was working on writing a story with that particular character and good old RP is always a good way to explore how a character thinks and reacts in different situations.

Let me know if the current sheet is okay, or you want me to change it some more?

Alrighty! So I've prepared my character. She's kinda based on a character hinted to in a flashback my character had in a previous RP, just to let that be known...

Name: Eos Dawn

Age: 42

Appearance: Female Unicorn, her coat a light blue, her mane a mix of orange and blonde, her eyes a deep green. Her cutie mark is that of a large mountain or rock with a sun rising up from behind it.

From: Whinneapolis, Equestria

Occupation: Former Day Soldier in the Royal Equestrian Army, Currently Unemployed

Personality:
While somewhat friendly and outgoing, Eos is often regarded as a bit of a pushover and too eager to do what others tell her rather than think for herself. When provoked, however, she can suddenly become very assertive and dominant, often displaying exceptional and surprising leadership skills. She believes this is the reason for her cutie mark, that it is not simply representative of her name but rather how behind her usual outside appearance can be found something bright and powerful just waiting to rise up and be unleashed.

Eos is still haunted by what she endured during her time in the military as well, still to this day having flashbacks and nightmares to the events surrounding Sefapane and the ponies that were killed as a result. She often carries little trinkets related to those whom she lead to safety years ago (an example being a copy of the novel "The Stars May Be" written by a comrade named 'Penn Wright'), all of which she holds close and rarely travels without.

Bio:
Born and raised in Whinneapolis, Eos Dawn spent much of her early years helping her father whom ran a carpentering business. She grew rather close to her father, but for a long time she yearned for something more than the life she had. Convinced by a Army Recruiter, at age 18 she joined up as a Day Soldier in the Royal Equestrian Army, somehow rising through the ranks and managing to become a Captain (something that was regarded as almost a fluke by her superiors).

During her service in the Military, Eos was deployed overseas in the Mosate Selao Conflict as part of the large force deployed to help the local government defeat a rebel force that caused a civil war to break out. While there, she was stationed in the town of Sefapane, which was overrun by a surprise attack by rebel forces. She and a small band of fellow soldiers (whom she became the impromptu leader of) managed to escape and trek approximately 30km through hostile territory to meet up with the main allied force. Most of her comrades whom were stationed in Sefapane, however, died or went missing in the attack.

After Mosate Selao, Eos stayed in the Army for several years, finally leaving and returning to her hometown of Whinneapolis right after Equestria split in two. Since then, she's worked a small variety of odd jobs but so far has not found something she wants to stay in.

Eos is also very much against the prospect of war breaking out between Equestria and Arcadia, afraid that what she saw in Mosate Selao will be repeated on her own home soil.

Any and all criticisms and critiques are welcome.

Two questions:

1. When do we start our actions and how should we do it?

2. Can we ban more Pony PCs and get more characters from the other side?

The moment you realize how much you were addicted to your last RP when you remember when, where and how a character was vaguely MENTIONED on somepony's backstory, knowing it was well over a year ago.

This will be like a little school reunion, eh? ;P Lets see if somepony else from our group joins up!

1- I guess I'll just set up the scene and you respond for it.
2- Yeah, apparently people prefer ponies from Equestia, I should really ask for more characters from the Arcadian side (and possibly more characters of different races). If anyone wants to change their character a bit, they can.

Fair enough. But is the kind of character I described okay, preferably not, preferably yes...?

Just wondering if I should reuse my pony or just make another OC.

Okay, so here's my character sheet, let me know what you think.

Name: Shamrock

Age: 28

Race: Earth Pony

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Cutie Mark:

A shimmering pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, that lays on fresh green fields adorned with four leaf clover's, representative of both his good fortunes and his keen eye for gold; a natural talent for swindling ponies of their earnings whether through picking pockets, slinking in and out of buildings, cracking locks and safes or using his beguiling charm as part of some scam.

From: Studlin, Equestria.

Occupation: Thief/Con-Man (Or Con-Pony rather, if you want to be pedantic about it. :p)

Personality: Shamrock is the sly and charismatic sort, always looking to ingratiate himself to others, with his keep being dependent on his charm and he likes to have someone around to share a few drinks with. Has an inkling for adventure and the adrenaline of big risk, which is good as his vocation often puts him at the face of danger. Something of a Lothario (or at least he likes to think of himself as such) he is often flirtatious with the mares, sometimes tactlessly so making no secret of the fact that he doesn't wish to be tied down and only seeks a bit of fun. Earning him the ire of many a jealous stallion and offended mare none too fond of his advances in the process. In spite of his magnetism, he can also be rather cocky and brash, sometimes to his downfall when he overestimates himself. Carry's a cool demeanour and a playful, colloquial tone in a thick accent that proves enticing to some and indecipherable to others.

Bio: Hailing from the land of Studlin, he never knew his parents, having only the derogatory comments made by the abusive overseer of the orphanage he grew up in as a colt to go on. He had a rough early childhood there, often being pushed around by those bigger and stronger than him and in spite of the belligerent environment giving him some thicker skin and making him more resilient to the beatings he realised even then that he wasn't much use in a fight. He's not really the violent type. Instead he opted to use his head and his silver tongue, not his hooves to solve his problems and his legs to run like the wind from them when things went haywire, keeping others in the orphanage off his flank by cutting deals with them, getting them things only he could get his hooves on.

At the tender age of 11 he ran away from the orphanage and got by on the streets as a simple beggar and pickpocket, which ran on for a few months before he ran into a stallion thief by the name of Emerald Eyes. Impressed by the young Shamrock's talent and audacity, he took him under his wing as his apprentice and taught him everything he knew, rolling from town to town as partners for the next 6 years, scamming ponies and moving on before the heat caught up with them, being the closest thing to a father figure the young colt ever had and his only true friend. The only one he thought he could trust. That was up until the night of the biggest heist the pair had ever tried to pull off when he was 17, where the stallion that he looked up to and modeled himself after had appeared to have left him for dead; a convenient scapegoat to draw attention whilst Emerald Eyes made a clean getaway. He hasn't seen him since. Shamrock was caught, apprehended and briefly detained by the guards, but managed to escape his cell before they could press charges on him. It was the events from this day forth that further cemented the notion in his mind that he couldn't truly trust anyone, that he had to be out looking for himself above anypony else, to be wary of all those around him and not to be caught hanging around any one place for too long.

Since then, he's spent his days travelling all along the lands, plying his trade as it were along with a string of different accomplices all of whom he's parted ways with over the years for one reason or another, though not all of them have split amicably. For the time being, he wonders alone, residing mostly in Equestrian provinces if only because he feels that's where the bigger scores are to be made. As for the divide between Equestria and Arcadia, he doesn't hold much interest in politics and is perfectly happy to simply side with whoever makes him the better offer/whichever end result nets him the biggest haul. That said, he still has a line drawn in the sand with certain things he's not willing to do, no matter how great the price. Hey now, he may be a criminal, but even he has limits.

I'll take the colour Forest Green in bold for my character's speech if nopony else has claimed it.

Strangely, people seemed to have known in advance that no one was going to pick an earth pony. Now suddenly, fuck ton of earth ponies.

Tons of green as well! Man, this thread has really boomed, from barely much of a cast to a pretty huge one. Guessing there'll be a list of the final roster some time sooner or later?

Name: Hurley

Gender: Male, earth pony

Age: 36

Appearance: Hurley is big. Really big. He's usually a head taller than everyone else and the only one taller than him (that he has met) was Princess Celestia at the famous Grand Gallopping Gala. Since he also has a massive build he can look quite intimidating. His size comes from genetics, years of heavy manual labour and his time as a professional hoofball player.
Eyes: Blue
Fur: Lightbrown
Mane/tail: Black
Hooves: Grey
Hurley also wears a hat that looks just like Applejacks. In fact, it was a gift from her and Big Macintosh. There's a dark pink rose attached to the hat that has been magically altered by Rarity to look pretty forever.

Cutie Mark: A hoofball. He received his mark when he tried out for the school team when he was young. He was easily the most impressive player on the field (due to an already impressive size and strength), but only attended once due to being bullied by other players. He became a professional player later in life though.

From: Bastion, The Republic of Arcadia

Occupation: Recently retired hoofball player, currently unemployed. It doesn't bother him financially, but he's looking for a job, trying to keep himself occupied.

Personality: Hurley could be the very definition of a gentle giant. He's never bucked someone in anger and he doesn't like conflicts. This is most likely related to the fact that he was bullied when he was young. He would rarely let anyone in close due to trust issues, but this has changed over the years. He's usually quiet around ponies he doesn't know that well, but he's very talkative among friends. Hurley's not the sharpest pony around and is actually a bit dumb, but he sometimes shows flashes of brilliance.

Bio: Hurley grew big early (hah, it rhymed!). He was always the biggest colt in school but was bullied because of his size and it lead to him developing a low self esteem and never trying to achieve anything special. He just wanted to blend in and not be picked on. This led to him quitting hoofball despite showing amazing promise. It also lead to him never trying to get good grades. He never told his parents about the bullying but they suspected it. Not being able to help Hurley with his problems in school they instead did their best to give him a loving home.

After Hurley finished school he decided to leave his hometown Bastion. He wanted to find somewhere to live where he was accepted despite his size. That proved more difficult than he had imagined. Very few had actually met a pony of Hurley's size and most ponies would either get scared or laugh when they saw him. Despite this Hurley always managed to find work wherever he went. He was a hard worker and his strength made him perfect for physical labour. He rarely stayed anywhere longer than a month though. At first it was because he was determined to find a place where he would be accepted for who he was, but eventually he became somewhat of a drifter.

Hurley actually worked for the Apple family for about a month. This was around 3 years before Twilight Sparkle's banishment. He grew very close with Applejack and Big Macintosh during his time there and would probably have stayed in Ponyville if he didn't suddenly get homesick and wanted to see his parents, whom he hadn't heard from in 4 years. He returned to Bastion and started working with his father as a carpenter. Hurley wasn't that good at it, but he did the best he could and focused on doing the heavy lifting instead.

But even though Hurley was happy to be home again he felt that something was missing. Naturally, it was hoofball. After kicking a hoofball around during his spare time, he was noticed by an agent from the professional hoofball team Bastion Breakers. He was immediately invited to their training camp, but Hurley hesitated. He remembered what happened when he was young, but he kept hearing Applejack's voice in his head, pushing him on. He struggled at first, but eventually hit his stride and showed a lot of promise as a defensive player. He signed with the Breakers, and the rest is history.

He quickly became one of the biggest stars in the league and there were very few in Equestria that didn't know who he was. When the war broke out the league was put on hold. When it ended the league split into two new ones, one for Equestria and one for Arcadia. Hurley continued playing for the Breakers for a couple of seasons and even won the Arcadian championship a couple of times.

Hurley often thinks about Applejack and Big Macintosh. He was stunned hearing the propaganda saying that everypony in Old Equestria was evil and not to be trusted, especially since AJ and Big Mac had been so kind to him all those years ago. But the government wouldn't lie to him, would they?

Heh, no kidding. I never thought I'd be in a minority by picking a Unicorn, but apparently I am. XD
