thing is, you can never put any on there she wouldn't like but as she can see what everyone else puts on there, sooner or later someone will put something she will disagree with and blame you for it.

Then suck it up and add your mam on facebook, you shouldn?t really be using it for privet matters anyway.

Either friend and limit her access, or simply friend and, you know, don't publicly say anything that'll get you in trouble.
Or buy your own Internet. Heck, if your phone's got Internet, you can do tethering to let your computer use the phone's Net connection.
It's not that hard of a decision.

Er... add her and stop being silly?

Really, what are you hiding on facebook? Free speech doesn't come into it, all you're doing is shutting her out.

And frankly if you're posting stuff on there you're ashamed to show your Mum, then perhaps you shouldn't be posting it...

Man I'm lucky that my mother doesn't even know how to use a mouse properly. It's better for both of us if she doesn't go to my facebook account.
I really think facebook has become too important. No offence but to take away your internet just because you haven't add her on facebook is kind of stupid. She's your mother, something like facebook could never show if you love her or not. You should tell her that she's taking that whole facebook thing too serious.

add her and make a new account, ergo, she thinks she has access to your main, when infact its a decoy.

I don't see why you won't just add her to Facebook, especially if you feel you should be able to speak freely without fear of punishment. She shouldn't take away your internet though for not doing it though, but you are being the dick in the argument.

so long story short me and my mother got into an argument because i have not added her as a friend on facebook and because of this she wants to take away my internet. She argues that i dont love her anymore and that i shouldn't say anything on facebook i dont want her to see, i counter with i do love you and i am allowed to speak freely with out fear of punishment i went on to ask her if she had ever kept a secret from me she replied by staring at me and then walking out of the room. So escapist do you think i should allow her on my facebook? or should i be allowed to speak freely with out fear of punishment?
oh and i am 16
Delete your facebook, see what she does, go from there. :p, makes a point.

To be honest, also, when you remember that anything you ever post to facebook is logged forever on their servers and will come back to haunt you in job interviews etc, having your mother on there is small potatoes by comparison, and in fact may even be a good thing, reminding you to not post anything daft that may make the future, suited n booted you looking for work, in a worse situation.

My advice, come clean about whatever you're hiding, then you have no reason to not add her. It's better than her finding out the hard way.

My mom knows my friends and I are potheads. So nothing she sees will shock her. She doesn't like it, but that's just tough. Then again, I am an adult.

Add her on Facebook, then block her from seeing most of your stuff (tagged pictures except for specific ones, certain statuses, etc).

Reminds me of that South park episode where Stan's dad wants to add him on Facebook.

I refuse to add any of my family. Simply because I don't like to use the thing. My mom has got a few of my friends though...
