Inspired by this:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.300822-Inside-the-psyche-of-the-computer-smart-arse

And

http://xkcd.com/356/

I happen to be one of the people who believe Macs suck. Really really suck.
They are only better than Acers (Which suck so bad that the PC Repair stor I work at charges double for all Acers due to their inability to be logical)

So I find an Apple store, find the nearest Macbook Pro facing away from staff memebers, open up this picture:
http://thenextweb.com/apple/files/2010/09/mac01.jpg
And nonchalantly walk out.

I have done this 8 times in 3 stores so far, always entertaining.

Anyone else here have an unusual "hobby"?

Also, anyone who agrees/Disagrees with my method?

Why do you even still go into apple stores?

And for unusual hobbies I can't think of anything except that I hate people giving rounds whenn going out, because I'll have to return the favour, and that shit's expensive.

Well, no one ever said that Mac owners had any sense. Quite entertaining to see the Apple scam presented in this way. :)

I have no unusual hobbies though, sorry.

One opened across the road from my office (We do smartphone games) and kept leafleting the hell out of us...After informing them: We release on Android first cause you guys suck so much at letting developers onto the platform, they started raging us.

So, simple petty revenge is your answer.

Ah, the power of the free market. The price differential between Macs and PCs shows just how much better off we are that IBM released specifications allowing anyone to develop for it's line of computers. Otherwise, we'd be paying this much for a Microsoft computer (aka a "Mike") and there'd be no Linux.

In fairness to Apple, though, I did hop over to the "Configure your mac pro" page to check the numbers for myself. The lowest total it would give me was $2500, which is less than the $3300 in your image, but still ludicrous. It wants the same $1400 more to go up 400 Mhz. It still wants $700 for a RAID card and now wants $225 to get 3GB more RAM, even worse than your picture suggests! At least I can get Microsoft Office: Business edition for "only" $200 instead of $400.

Ah, petty revenge. Without it, the world would be a better place. But it's just too much fun!

While you're there hit the key combination (i forget it exactly) that changes the screen to it's photo-negative, if the staff there don't know the trick it's a bictch to reverse.

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with Acers?
I'm actually running one right now.
They're expensive and pretty sure...But they break so easily. They age incredibly rapidly, are awful to fix, have amazingly rare unique problems, are AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL to fix.

If a standard PC takes 15 minutes to diagnose and start to repair (Which is about right)

Acers can take anywhere between 1 and 2 hours to 6 hours, to a day. They're very very special.

We have to break out the soldering iron for more Acer laptops than any other brand.

I.... really like this image, but I wish the heading was more bold or red, because if a person's in a Mac store, they're obviously too thick set on buying a Mac that they'll discard the tab without reading.

I'd argue with you but...

My on board touch panel no longer works.
My USB (my only one) slot is temperamental at best, I have to jiggle around to get it to work depending where I am at.
My headphone socket no longer works.
I've had the number 4 key break for no reason.
My cinematic surround sound no longer seems to work.

Aaaand just as of this second my fan is starting to intermittently make a low whine/whistle. It does get used alot though.
I agree with your assessment.

Sorry to Self Post on my own thread as much as I do, but a quote is a quote.

I have seen someone look at buying the laptop, look at the screen, laugh, put down his purchases and leave the store laughing.

I cost Apple a lot of money that day. God I'm proud. But the point is that this actually works as is because it's not so affronting, it's simple unbiased work.

Your a vindictive person I like that!

I sometimes go into the local phone stores and set all the internet phones on a timer to play the song apple bottom jeans at the same time at max volume.

I don't really see the point of such vindictiveness. Why even go to Apple stores in the first place? Besides, while you're wasting your time there, you're missing prime nerd-snipe opportunities. The equivalent resistance between the two marked nodes...it makes me laugh.

OP, you do realize you have managed to derail your own thread, right?

And how about respecting people's personal preferences?
I mean, seriously. This is a thinly veiled hate thread.

Not only is this not how to conduct yourself on the Escapist, but I bet I could find fifty threads in which everything that has been said here has before been posted.
Repeating things is not good discussion.

Yet Steve Jobs owns more black turtle necks than he can possibly wear.
I hear he upgrades purchases of every turtle neck he owns to two for only $300 more.

Good work with them apples.

To answer the original question, I like to correct different signs and whatnot. I carry a black marker with me for this.

For example, in a Subway restaurant I sometimes go to, there's a chart that shows how much fat and energy is in the different subs. It has one column that says "Fat (g)" and under it how many grams of fat everything has. The problem is that the second column is completely wrong. It says "calories (kcal)". First of all, calories and kilocalories aren't the same thing. And even if you look past that, calories isn't something you measure with kilocalories. It should say "energy (kcal)", or even better, "energy (J)".

This kind of stuff really annoys me, so I correct them whenever I can.

Well, did the sign say "calories (kcal)" or "Calories (kcal)"?

Because Calories with a capital 'C' means one thousand calories, or kcals. Calories are indeed measured in kcals, so if the sign had a capital 'C', then it was actually correct.
