My old game is worth what?!

Most games get cheap as they age. But as they age even more they go from old to retro and they get harder and harder to find. So when you see a pretty good game when it drops to a pretty low price it usually means in the next few years it will start to appreciate in value if its a game people actually want. Its a supply and demand thing. The sequel will probably start to follow the same road eventually.

Yeah. My problem now is my PC won't run it, lol. The engine crashes, even in compatibility mode.

I don't have a single game that's worth anything, but my brother has Xenogears for the PS1 which is apparently worth a little bit if you want to purchase it online. I don't know if that's true or not, I haven't double-checked.

I throw in Earthbound. Christ, that game has people going apeshit.
Also Final Fantasy VII's Japanese copy is worth a pretty penny over here. Partly because the fanbase for it is so expansive.
Luckily, I found it cheap.

Yeah, I bought Kotor for £5. Psychonauts for around £10 and Call of Cthulu for £5. All of them are worth much more if you sell them.

Vampire the Masquerade is the worst. You can buy copies for like £100. The cheapest must be around £50.

I have [erfect conditions of all the Final Fantasys on the ps1, they will probably be worth something

haha bad pun. Wii strikes again with its 'small child bashes his head against the wall until his ears bleed so that his parents will buy him some crappy assed add-on for the Wii. I have a younger sibling and he explained he abosolutely needed the wiimote attachments that look like sports equipment so that he could play better. I honestly just laughed at him and called him he stupidest child known to man.

This is exactly why I'm holding on to my copies of Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War. They're worth pennies now because everyone's got a copy, but one day they'll be rare, and these two games can stop blighting my shelf with their presence. There're also copies of Final Fantasy VII and VIII in my house which'll be worth something soon.

When old (good) games go out of print their value spikes since there won't be anymore. FFVII is worth 50-70 USD last I heard. It's supply and demand kiddies.

Gears of war and call of duty to me, are the games that seem to break the chain. Gears barely has started to go down in price, most significantly after gears 2 came out. It was still full price until that point. Call of duty 4, I still see in retail stores,(special edition with map packs)at full price. So they may follow the rules of 'game-ageing' but alot more slowly than others, but Call of Duty 4 hasn't started and gears has just begun to do so.

It's ridiculous how these games, especially highly acclaimed ones that run fine on modern hardware with simple or no fixes, fail to get reprints.

A particularly egregious example is Mushihime-sama. It was released (on the PS2, so no compatibility issue is possible) in 2005 and got a reprint in 2006, just three years ago. Used copies now go for more than $120.

I think if you're waiting for games that all 360 owners have to become rare you might be waiting a while. Also by the time these are worth money a working 360/PS3, which don't seem to be as hardy as previous generations, will be rarer and therefore the real prize.

Keep those console's safe people.
