My One Complaint With Dead Island

So, I picked up Dead Island earlier today, after thinking long and hard on the decision between it and Space Marine. I'm very happy with my choice, as I've played for probably 4 or 5 hours and I'm only 10% of the way through the main plot according to the stat on the menu.

There is one thing that really, really pisses me off though.

I'm trying to sell some items so I can upgrade the power of my weapons, but there are two things wrong with the way selling stuff works.

Firstly, you can't sell in bulk. So I have 15 batteries, so I want to sell about 10 of them, so I have to select it, then confirm the sale 10 times.

This wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for this bit, though. Upon selling an item, the selected item seems to change to a totally random one. So I have 15 batteries, I sell one, and for some reason it's highlighting glue instead.

I'm assuming it's a glitch, because no developer in their right mind would put that into a game, because it's just fucking stupid. I hope they fix it, I'd rather be able to sell things quickly.

So, to add discussion value, how are you all finding Dead Island? If you don't have it, will you buy it? If not, why not?

I am really loving Dead Island, but the terrible UI really does get annoying, that and guns seem a bit wonky, like the auto-aim actively works against me or something. Unfortunate belmishes on an otherwise awesome game.

Dead island is great, and as far as I can tell to your issue: When you sell junk like that, the item them goes to the bottom of the menu that you are seeing (it's still on the list and you can see it, its just on the bottom) so if your mouse is over another item and not the bottom area it'll sell that instead. It's probably a glitch/issue they won't fix... but I love the game otherwise. I can only really complain that I hate the Infected type of zombie with a passion.

Might get it, but I probably won't until I finish university for the year, as I don't need another distraction.

It's really looking pretty awesome, and I love the look of the classes and upgrades and things like that. Definitely looking to pick it up when it comes down a bit.

I love the game. It's a blast and a half. This (OP's post) is also my one gripe. It's probably easier on PC, what with a mouse and clicking and all, but on 360 the item navigation has Tourette's.

Luckily, it's not a game breaker or anything, and it's pretty rare that I actually sell anything other than weapons, and there are only a few slots for those, so the problem's not involved there if you just select the weapons tab.

Man, I wish I wasn't at work right now. I wanna curb-stomp me some more zombies. :(

What you need to do is use the triggers ( on xbox) and scroll through the ones that contain what you want to sell like consumables or firearms and for me it lets me sell the same thing over and over again without searching again, and if it does make you go down the list again at least its easier to find

OH HI BRO, I AM A FAST ZOMBIE THAT HITS YOU NO MATTER WHAT, DOING ABOUT 1/5 OF YOUR HP IN DAMAGE, AND YOU CAN'T INTERRUPT MY ATTACK NO MATTER WHAT. OH DID I MENTION I ALSO COME AT YOU IN GROUPS OF 2-5? AREN'T I JUST AWESOME?

I fucking hate Infected so much... I hate thugs as well, but after farming 40 molotovs, I can deal with them pretty easy. Especially since my electric machete has a high crit chance when thrown into their face from behind, while jumping :D

OP: I have that same problem with items, but I doubt they'll fix it.
They'll probably make selling junk alot easier in the next Dead Island (you know they'll make a sequel)
I also hate how the game says "its much cheaper to just maintain items than to completely fix them". Bullshit. I've repaired my machete at 80% hp, and it cost me $200, then repaired it with a sliver of health, and it cost me $1000.
I also don't like it how if you use any other weapon than the weapon your character is good at, it drains all your stamina instantly and does shit damage =|

I haven't played it (looks like a fun Zombie game) but I've been keeping an eye on Jessie Cox's newest Co-op series playing it.

About the only complaint I have so far is probably the woman that Jessie is currently playing as, while listening to her backstory it just came off as overly crappy and angsty. I mean, just the layers upon layers of crap they piled on made me just dislike the character then anything.

Maybe it's just me, and it's a small complaint in an otherwise nice looking game.

I will probably get it, but it's a very low priority since I got tons of games to get first.
The gameplay I've seen(not much) didn't impress me that much, however, most people here has spoken warmly about it so I guess I'll trust the majority.

My complaints (and note that i still really enjoy the game): 1. Escort quests; why the flying fuck? 2. Inventory selling bug, as mentioned above. 3. Unclimbable stairs to sunken bathrooms (so far only seems to affect Sam B.); nothing like spending 5 minutes to jump out of a bathroom you've just looted. 4. Lack of a manual save; hasn't hurt me yet, but one of my friends lost like 5 hours worth of progress due to his autosaves not functioning.

I have both Space Marine and Dead Island and love them both-the latter especially is one of the finest games I've ever played and definitely the best zombie game I've ever enjoyed. My only minor complaints with it are that its a little immersion breaking to be in single player and then see all the characters in a cut-scene and that the characters are rubbish (but only because I want to play as a man with a huge beard, someone I can relate to)!

I haven't played it yet but so far the only thing besides this selling bug that might bug me is the weapons degrading. Of course that may just be an annoying gimmick that no one likes and just goes with out saying.

well that just talked me out of the game. my life and game time is way too sporadic and interrupted for me not to have a manual save. and i understand the need to create tension and all that ...

also, losing that much time would generate so much rage in me, my monitor would be lucky to escape from it unscathed.

I like to kick them until they fall over and then stomp on their heads. Because fuck you, zombie that flays around like an idiot and kills me in a few hits.

I have two complaints with the game so far:

1. Multiplayer on PC is really unstable. When I play co-op everyone gets random disconnects every 10-20 minutes or so. Then it takes forever for them to join again. I heard that the servers are at fault and they seem to work on that, so hopefully that changes soon. Especially because going back to singleplayer after 4-player-co-op sucks.

2. On PC the characters take exiting a menu by clicking on "Back" as their cue to attack. They also like to equip weapons that you just picked up/upgraded/modded/made. Now make something like a deobomb and hilarity ensues.
For those who don't follow: When you make a deobomb and then click on "Back" in that menu your character throws said bomb and thus kills himself (and everyone in the vicinity ).

Other than that I thoroughly enjoy Dead Island. It reminds me of Fallout: New Vegas. A great game with a huge open world sprinkled with a lot of minor hilarious bugs and awkward animations. Except, you know, 4-player-co-op.

I have only two complaints.

Firstly, after nearly 10 hours in, I still feel somewhat screwed from picking the firearms expert. it took nearly 10 hours to finally find some place where I can find ammo, naming those punks in the city. Being quite happy to have a green magnum with full upgrades and 50 bullets, I step outside, aim at the nearest zombie, give it a nice, clean headshot and.. another.. and another.. and another.. and ano-oh, he's finally dead! ... For a simpel walker? SRRSLY? That is what I specced half my talents into?

And secondly, What is the point of having a steadily increasing healthbar when every zombie ht deals the same amount of % damage? 4-5 hits of a infected will put you flat on the street, if you have 3 or 10 life bars doesn't matter one flying bit.

My only one complaint about Dead Island is the frequency in which they're sending Infected after me. Once I got to Morsby, Walkers were a thing of the past. Now I get 1 Infected, 3 Infected, 2 Infected, 4 Infected, 3 more Infected. And they can freaking climb smaller ledges you can get onto to avoid Walkers. At first I was like "Difficult? Whoever said this is difficult must be joking." And as soon as I reached Morsby, it got 50x more difficult. Rough estimation. There was also a time then I found one Ram, got hit from behind by a second, got hit by a third Ram soon as I stood back up, and had 4 Infected at one time rush me as soon as I stood from that. Now, I'm not one to complain about challenge, but that was just a tad unfair, if you ask me.
