Sigh... Well, I loaded up RD:R for the last time yesterday, not that I knew that... the power light flashed yellow, then started blinking red.... Now it won't stay on long enough to even remove the game disc.

According to the Sony support hot line, there's nothing I can do without voiding the warranty, and I doubt I have the skill to fix it even if I was willing to do that. It will cost $150 if I want it fixed, money I don't have. Honestly, I don't mind a gaming hiatus; I've lived without my games before. But I had at least 2,000 hours of game saves on that system, everything I've played in the last two years plus years of PS2 saves. There is no way to recover that data.

It's like... I've spent years painting little ceramic unicorns -- each one unique. Tedious, but ultimately rewarding. Some had racing stripes, some were dressed like a bdsm slave and were swinging a horn twice the length of it's body, and some seemed to simply be covered in blood. Then a bomb exploded, destroying them all and burning my hands so that I have to pay some ****** to fix them before I can attempt to rebuild my shattered collection... [/tortured metaphor]

....

Fuck, I don't know, have any condolences? Advice? Anecdotes?

...Life is cruel.

Hi there, I've owned, played, and generally abused a 360 for around four years now and it works great.

I'm savoring this moment.

Save your money, get it fixed, then play all those games you had data for again. That's really the only thing I can say.

You can fix it yourself. Look on YouTube for some tutorials.

I wish you the best of luck.

Sorry dude... but All is not lost. I don't really know what's the yellow light mean but if your hardrive isn't fried, you haven't lost anything yet.

Well, if its any consolation, I kinda know how you feel.

My PS1 memory card died out a few months ago. And with it all my saves of really old games. Basically the games of my childhood gone. I still have the games and could easily get them back, but still. Its just not the same.

Also, when my pokemon Yellow died.

2 years I spent playing that game. I managed to get every pokemon in that game. Without glitching (I got Mew at an event). I just wish I could have moved them to my silver version.

It was destroyed by rain. DAMN YOU NATURE!

And this happened again when my Crystal version's memory battery ran out. So much great pokemon. Gone...

That's uncalled for... if it were your 360, you'll be cussing like it the only word you know.

I feel ya, it wasn't as bad for me, obviously, but I've had years of saved files erased when I lost a gamecube memory card, and whenever my N64 memory card feels like getting corrupted. Now, this was "years" of saved files only the first time it happened of course...

Yellow lights are a warning. After the yellow light comes the red light, which means the PS3 is broken. When you get a green light it means you can drive.

I know. On the other hand, if I did and made a thread about it, I'd probably get a number of responses to the tune of "Tough shit, failure rate, blah blah."

I have nothing against this guy and utterly sympathize with him, but I can't help but think it's a bit funny. It goes with the pleasure of owning the one utterly indestructible 360 on earth. I mean, I seriously put that thing through it's paces.

You sir have no heart.

I may not have the same Console history as you do but I can feel your pain from my monitor.

I hope you can get it fixed for a much more affordable price. Life is cruel but it isn't static.

The universe should compensate you for this eventually.

Why, because it's one out of 10 billion occasions where a 360 outlasted a PS3?

Sad part is...that would happen. They would laugh at the "Har har. e74 or RROD"

If you can salvage the haddrive then you won't loose your data, sucks about your system though, the closest that I've got to what you had happen was my cousin reset my console so I lost all of my data with no chance of retrieving it. Save your money and get Sony to fix your system, with any luck you'll get your info back too.

My moment remains great because my 360 is one of four that have pulled that off. 8O

*Villain Hand Rub* Mwahaha. What he has experienced is known as the "Yellow Light of Death" it is the PS3's version of the RROD except that it's much more lethal than it's Xbox counterpart. This is just...so...beautiful *tear*

Sorry for being an asshat but this has proved many a people I dislike wrong.

I'll make it up to you with this.
