Hi there, I've owned, played, and generally abused a 360 for around four years now and it works great.

I'm savoring this moment.
That's uncalled for... if it were your 360, you'll be cussing like it the only word you know.
Nah, people do that whenever someone posts about their 360 frying, so I feel like his comment is ironic.

OT: Sorry OP, mine fried as well, but I found a way around it. I got it replaced for free after much bitching and foot stomping.

They should create some wya to back up memory on the gaming consoles incase you accidently shut down while saving or wipe your memory by accident.

360's are always criticized for always red ringing, but never praised for the fact they ALWAYS give you a new one at the cost of waiting a month or two.
Because it's a Hardware failure that they made before mass producing and therefore have the obligation to replace that hardware failure. If the concept was double check and the problem solve before shipping them, they wouldn't have that on their hand.

***SNIP********* to fix them before I can attempt to rebuild my shattered collection... [/tortured metaphor]
Lost saved games is no reason to use that word is it?

+ SNIPage
Don't mean to be rude, I've just never found that word particularly offensive. Apologies to the offended.

I don't think it's a "warranty" exactly, it's just that if I've tampered with the system (broken the seal on the case, destroyed the serial number, modified the hard drive, etc.) they won't extend the repair service to me. I think the warranty actually comes from the retailer and they just cover the costs Sony would usually have billed you. It's just $150 straight up to fix any problem and ship it back and forth, for simplicity's sake I guess (maybe that's the average cost of repair? I dunno).

Now, when my PS2 broke (given, that time it fell on the concrete and internal parts clean snapped) I found myself unable to even fit the pieces back together when I had failed to repair it. I don't even know what a heat gun is and I'm loathe to risk having no system and having to replace it with a new one. Besides, my system is one of the last of the line to feature the full (well, mostly. MORE full at least) backwards compatibility. So for $150 I'm right back where I stared (plus a few years) but if I gamble my technical skills and loose, I looking at upwards of twice that for two new systems if I want to still play all my games.

I haven't the heart to look at the thing, so I don't know how to remove the HDD or how it works, but I mean, I'm assuming there isn't just a usb port on its side that can link it to a PC or something like that or the Tech help guy should've mentioned it when I asked him. I suggested that I could put the thing in someone else's system and back it up from there, but he cut me off half way through, told me it wouldn't recognize it and would format before it accessed it and proceeded to stress there was no way for me to get at the data.

Also, a very lovely bit of irony :) I'm going to steal it.

I just nulled your moment :D
My moment remains great because my 360 is one of four that have pulled that off. 8O
I wouldn't go bragging too much, friend. My 360 lasted for five years before it got the RRoD. But yes, it was nice having one of the few 360s that lasted for a long period of time.

OT: Just save up the money and get it repaired. It'll be cheaper than getting a new PS3 anyway.

The OP reminds me of the rampant DRE errors my PS2 would give me about every six months.
I was so afraid of the implications the first time it happened.

Then, it turned out, all I had to do was crack open the case and swab the cd-lens with an alcohol-soaked q-tip. Problem solved. For six months.

This sounds far more serious, however, and have no valid input to the problem at hand. Also, I didn't read this thread[/admit]

I feel your pain, I too have felt the pain of a ps3 crash and burn. I would suggest gamesaves, but nay! it would be just as trading a lost child for a baby doll. luckily enough mine was still in warrenty, but they still raped me with forcing me to pay for what was supposed to be free shipping. games and game systems as well as most everything now-a-days is utter crapsmanship. my psp's analog is broken, my freinds have lost countless xboxes so dont raeg me back plox! my pc wont even play ps1 games on an emu much less old pc games (friggin vistas) (tfc runs ecellent if you love challenge maps involving bombing your way up chasms and then dying only to do it again). my wii was broken from when i first bought it (it uses some sucky motion controller thing). my NES still runs like a dream though.

tldr: gaming companies today are led by ruthless dictators focused completely on the genocide of the entire jewish race.
